That would be an absolutely insanely good signing. :-o

We've got Lovren - if we signed him, Astori and Nainggolan as well, our disciplinary record will be horrendous next year

This morning's paper talk re: Players mentioned on this thread.

- Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino wants playmaker Joan Verdu from old club Espanyol.

- Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway is reeling after being quoted a stunning £14million fee by old club Blackpool for Thomas Ince and Matt Phillips.

- Burnley to put £7million price tag on Charlie Austin to ward off potential interest

why exactly did Ince sign a new contract?

You mean for this season, Chez?

I think both Phillips & Ince were out of contract, but Blackpool had options on both to extend for the extra year which the club took up.

Would be a shame to see Fonte go, but if he does i guess we can be assured we'll get another CB for sure.

Yeah, very much.

What a coup he was for us in league 1.

If Fonte left, I think we'd only get another centre back if Hooiveld also left. Four centre backs - Lovren, Yoshida, Forren and one other should be enough.

I think that you need 5 good BC's in the Premier League.

2 playing, 1 on the bench, 2 in reserve / suspended / injured.

So I would definitely replace Fonte - not that I expect him to leave though.

Where did Lovren first get a mention on here this window?

Wondered which site had the link first?

Daily Mail was the 1st place to mention it over here I believe.

Trousers posted this link on June 7th.

Worth noting in the future that *even* articles with typo's can be trusted:-

Hard to take Simon Jones seriously as a journalist when he spells Seaborne incorrectly as Seabourne.

I'm surprised that Fenerbache would be interested in Fonte. He'd be mad to turn it down though, they're a huge club, paying massive wages and playing at a far higher standard than us currently. I'd be pleased for him if it happened.

Duly noted, Garrett.

I can see Jose leaving us this window, I don't think we will sign another though. MP seems to rate Jos so will settle on Lovren, Yoshida, Forren and Hooiveld IMO.

Yeah, Turks, every time I read one of your half-a-dozen types of post it reminds me what a funny and well liked contributor you are. If only there were more like you and fewer dim-witted, monotonous, bores.

Valencia, Southampton offers nine million Euros for Banega

The Southampton on the trail of Ever Banega (24), Valencia midfielder and Argentina come under fire of the English club. As reported by Sportmediaset.it on the former Boca Juniors and Atletico Madrid is the strong interest of the Saints, who have already offered nine million Euros.

Banega is a very clever player. Not much of a goal threat but he is awesome at being able to move the ball forward into the final third and get it to players in space who can do some damage. Creative but without creating goalscoring chances for others, however he will start loads of moves in moving the ball forward in transition. I can see why we'd be after him.

Sounds like an upgrade on Cork. Partnered with Morgan and with Gaston at 10 we'd look very solid in the middle.

Sounds like an upgrade on Davis if anything.
