MOSaint Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 The bid was made 2 months ago and Negredo told the Sevilla he wasn't interested, apparently.

Smirking_Saint Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 TBH the past two TWs we have wasted time on trying to get players that had no intention of signing for us, its admirable but definately wastes time !!
Smirking_Saint Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 How do you know without trying? Why can't you go after several players at once like every other club? Is giving up and aiming low a strategy you'd applaud? Not at all, calm down though Adrian, Im not slagging them off, the strategy snagged us Gaston which is one I applaud, we were in for Michu and Coutinho last year. It isnt a case of looking at just one player but if you manage to talk to people in and around the game then we are in for some big names that we arent v likely of getting.
MOSaint Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Something relevent to a player we've been linked with... Tancredi Palmeri @tancredipalmeri 4m Juventus has been contacted by Stoke City for De Ceglie and Sorensen
Saint Garrett Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Is that the same Sorensen? I thought he was at Bologna?
Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 I think Juve part own him, a bit like Ramirez and Penarol last year.
MOSaint Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Is that the same Sorensen? I thought he was at Bologna? Yeah, Bologna and Juventus have one of those Co-Ownership deals with him
SuperSAINT Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 http://metro.co.uk/2013/06/04/southampton-to-fail-in-double-transfer-raid-as-they-eye-place-in-the-premier-leagues-top-four-3828079/? The only saving grace if that proves to be true is Arsenal probably wouldn't want Morgan if they sign Wanyama.
BlakeySFC Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 People on the Twittersphere saying that Sky Italia have said we've signed Astori. I'm calling BS on this, but just thought I'd share.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 People on the Twittersphere saying that Sky Italia have said we've signed Astori. I'm calling BS on this, but just thought I'd share. Tancredi Palmeri seems to be on the ball with all transfers in Italy and he hasn't mentioned it.
Gorgiesaint Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Gabriel Marcotti on Talksport just now, asked by someone who texted in about Lamela possibly going to Liverpool - his comment was that Roma have no reason to sell. Given that he thinks Lamela would get in most international starting 11's (including Germany) it sounds like it would take a massive deal to get him out of Roma.
Gorgiesaint Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Who knows - I've only ever seen talk of Lamela on this thread. Did also mention Davide Astori, but no comment on whether we were likely to get him. Pretty positive about him as a player and what he might do for us, but did say a player who has developed slower than expected.
Saint Charlie Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 People on the Twittersphere saying that Sky Italia have said we've signed Astori. I'm calling BS on this, but just thought I'd share. Its just bull****.
SuperSAINT Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Where did all the Lamela talk even come from? Pretty sure he was just an assumption from when Nixon said The Don was in Italy, with his cheque-book....
DuncanRG Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Sevilla reject £14.5m bid for Negredo from West Ham They say they have no need to sell after the Navas deal and also point out he's got four years left of his contract. Looks like a no-go unless we really want to pay through the nose.
Saint Charlie Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Pretty sure he was just an assumption from when Nixon said The Don was in Italy, with his cheque-book.... It was. Never been any proper link and most likely never will be.
SNSUN Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Sevilla reject £14.5m bid for Negredo from West Ham They say they have no need to sell after the Navas deal and also point out he's got four years left of his contract. Looks like a no-go unless we really want to pay through the nose. Bidding for a player they had 0.01% chance of getting gets them newspaper headlines and pleases the fans. Still, I suppose if you don't try, you don't get. I fancy Saints to bid £30 million for Messi.
Saint Garrett Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 Can't imagine anyone Spanish would be interested in playing Fat Sams system tbh
Saint Garrett Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 aren't west ham signing a spanish goalkeeper? Oh yeah....apart from him. keepers don't count.
Matthew Le God Posted 4 June, 2013 Posted 4 June, 2013 keepers don't count. Rickie Lambert makes it 4-0 to Saints... "Kelvin whats the score? Kelvin, Kelvin whats the score?" "Kelvin Davis, he can't ****ing count!"
JoeShmoe Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 Sevilla reject £14.5m bid for Negredo from West Ham They say they have no need to sell after the Navas deal and also point out he's got four years left of his contract. Looks like a no-go unless we really want to pay through the nose. Plus the 15m for Andy Carroll. Any business we try and do will have to be done quietly as no doubt they'll be in for anyone we get close to
Monk Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 Been told first deal is done, wont be announced till early next week.
itchen_dan Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 Been told first deal is done, wont be announced till early next week. Any idea as to who? Reliable source?
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 Been told first deal is done, wont be announced till early next week. that ties in with the rumoured signing of astori next week although there was no credible source on that story.
pingwing Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 ...were we looking to buy Andy Carroll? He's asking for 100k a week to move to West Ham Got a feeling he's going to be bench warming at Liverpool for the rest of his contract with that attitude...
Glasgow_Saint Posted 5 June, 2013 Author Posted 5 June, 2013 Our 1st transfer will be announced Monday or Tuesday next week. Will arrive in Southampton on Saturday to sign contract.
Saint_clark Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 Our 1st transfer will be announced Monday or Tuesday next week. Will arrive in Southampton on Saturday to sign contract. You're so unbelievably transparent.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 5 June, 2013 Author Posted 5 June, 2013 You're so unbelievably transparent. Carly Simon? You're so unbelievably transparent You probably think this song is about you You're so unbelievably transparent I'll bet you think this song is about you Don't you? Don't you?

Thats crazy talk, I can get my head around his 10-15m value, but that much a week ? How much did Kenny chuck at him FFS ?
pingwing Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 Thats crazy talk, I can get my head around his 10-15m value, but that much a week ? How much did Kenny chuck at him FFS ? He's on 80k at the moment from Kennys move for him and wants an extra 20k to move to the dreaded south/London where it's even less acceptable to assault women women in public. I really hope who ever let Kenny sign him up has been fired (out of a cannon)
Saint Charlie Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 Monk has some good contacts I think. There are lots of rumours about other teams but few about us because we try to do things privately behind the scenes as we have been told many times. I'm sure things will get done.
Smirking_Saint Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 He's on 80k at the moment from Kennys move for him and wants an extra 20k to move to the dreaded south/London where it's even less acceptable to assault women women in public. I really hope who ever let Kenny sign him up has been fired (out of a cannon) FWIW I dont think he is as bad as people make out, he has his uses. He isnt a great footballer in the very sense of the word but has a decent enough touch, pace and can finish. He is best used as a battering ram though and must be a massive handful to play against. 100k or even 80k is mental though. Shows what happens at clubs that rely just on managers opinions and not a commitee IMO
tajjuk Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 I really hope who ever let Kenny sign him up has been fired (out of a cannon) That would be Comollli - On 3 November 2010 his appointment as Director of Football Strategy at Liverpool was announced, with part of his remit being to oversee the recruitment of new players to the club.[15] Comolli made an instant impact at Liverpool as he was responsible for the signings of two players, Luis Suárez and Andy Carroll, on January 2011's transfer deadline day Laughably the section above that on Wiki says On 9 November 2008 it was announced that he would return to Saint-Étienne as sporting director.[11] His appointment led to the departure of manager Laurent Roussey.[12] After leaving Saint-Étienne for Liverpool, the club's co-chairman Bernard Caiazzo claims that Comolli was responsible for causing the club's financial problem and told the News of the World:[13][14] "Damien spent €22 million [£18.7m] of our money on seven players in summer of last year. Only one is a first-team regular now. We gave him the keys to our club and are now in financial difficulties. My own view of Damien is he favours size and strength as the qualities he goes for first. Perhaps, he will do better with more money at his disposal at Liverpool than he did with us. ” In the summer transfer window for the 2011/12 season Comolli helped Liverpool FC sign Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing, Doni, José Enrique, Sebastián Coates and Craig Bellamy. LOL. On 12 April 2012 Comolli left Liverpool by mutual consent.[19] He stated that he left due to family reasons but rumours have circulated that he may have been sacked as a result of failings in the transfer market.
Monk Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 Any idea as to who? Reliable source? From first team coaching member. He doesnt know who it is.
itchen_dan Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 From first team coaching member. He doesnt know who it is. Brilliant! Be interesting to know who it is!
Smirking_Saint Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 That would be Comollli - Laughably the section above that on Wiki says LOL. Shows how poor a manager Kenny was as well, if I remember rightly (and ignoring all the massively inflated fees) Adam, Carroll, Downing and Henderson were very much in form for their respective clubs. Kenny managed to get hold of them and in the space of 6 months all were used as perrenial jokes on social networks, such was their disasterous loss of form and overly expensive prices.
SuperSAINT Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 Brilliant! Be interesting to know who it is! I'm going for Verdu.
Webby Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 I think its Astori. Just because of all the rumours about him going way back; the Astori dvd etc. I reckon its him.

SuperSAINT Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 Fair play if Villa can pull this one off... http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11677/8758075/Aston-Villa-target-Younes-Belhanda-keen-on-Premier-League-move
MOSaint Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 Belhanda would be a good signing for a top 4 side so fair play to Villa if they can get that one through.
stevy777_x Posted 5 June, 2013 Posted 5 June, 2013 Belhanda is a class class player, has enormous potential, although he went off the boil a little last season. He had trouble finding some motivation to play for Montpellier who did not have a very good season having being champions the year before. Would take him in a heartbeat.
