Olallana Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Didn´t Adkins have some cheeky smiles on presses when he was asked about Forren the week before he signed and Adkins got fired...?? To me that suggested that he knew about the signing.....
pingwing Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Huddlestone signs for Hull. Decent signing for them. Decent in the sense he will be good in le champ next year but a bit average this year in the prem.
DuncanRG Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Huddlestone is so underrated, I'm really surprised Spurs have sold him.
Monk Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Sky Sports are now running with the Osvaldo story.
hutch Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Yep, just saw that. Sky "sources" say we're in pole position
Stepgar Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Yep, just saw that. Sky "sources" say we're in pole position Their source was probably here!
DuncanRG Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Yep, just saw that. Sky "sources" say we're in pole position Lovely stuff. Hope we can see this one through.
Smirking_Saint Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Huddlestone is so underrated, I'm really surprised Spurs have sold him. His problem is he has no real legs but he is a great ball player, with the right midfield around him they will be ok. Ive always liked him, he will have to watch his fitness though
Monk Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Forgot to say, Saints are looking at Alex's brother Christian. Would cost £100k
Saint Garrett Posted 14 August, 2013 Posted 14 August, 2013 Forgot to say, Saints are looking at Alex's brother Christian. Would cost £100k Alex who?
Verbal Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 The Times, which is pretty cautious mostly, is reporting our and Norwich's interest in Bologna defender Frederik Sorensen. (No link - damned paywall.)
SNSUN Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 The Times, which is pretty cautious mostly, is reporting our and Norwich's interest in Bologna defender Frederik Sorensen. (No link - damned paywall.) Two top centre backs would make for an excellent summer of transfer activity defensively (depending on whether Fox stays or goes - if he goes we need a new LB) but it would mean that either Jos or Jose would be out the door. Hard to choose which of those to let go though...
Olallana Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 In a worst case scenario....Dejan Lovren has actually played LB in the national team, but obviously not ideal since we need him at CB...

Hard to choose which of those to let go though... Is Sorensen really a top defender though? Either way if it means Jos never playing again I'm all for it.
Lighthouse Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Lovren's international team mate Ivan Strinic looked a decent LB at the Euros last summer, caused a lot of problems for Italy and Ireland. Haven't seen any more of him than that, think he plays for Dnipro.
positivepete Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Is Sorensen really a top defender though? Either way if it means Jos never playing again I'm all for it. It is true that the most effective way for a team to improve is to continue to identify and replace the weakest link, but that does not mean the over the top slagging off of those identified as such. There are a number of posters on here who by the nature of some of their remarks makes others wonder who you actually support.

I've nothing against him personally, he comes across as a nice bloke, but I think him and Fox are absolutely hideous footballers at this level.
SuperSAINT Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 In a somewhat random move, Napoli planning to gazump QPR for Zapata (?) http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11711/8871529/napoli-try-to-gazump-qprs-bid-for-duvan-zapata

Monk Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Also Newcastle and Fulham are slugging it out for Bent. So he had this spot on.
S-Clarke Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 So he had this spot on. Anything else on potential moves for us?
Monk Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 He is an agent I met at a UEFA conference, seemed to know a lot about the Juve wingers move to Sunderland, Napoli and I believe his partner is involved in the Fulham- Darren Bent deal. Seemed legit, he had a FIFA licence with him plus an A8 with Italian plates. Think I may of jumped the gun abit, maybe it was Osvaldo nto Damiao but does our Pablo have any third party issues?
Lazlo78 Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 How about selling Rickie and starting our next "lower league striker in the national team" project? I'm thinking Lee Trundle. CHDAJFU?
Saint Garrett Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Can't see them both playing...Bent will probably be Berba's backup. Laziest team award must go to them with half their team over 32 and having Berba, Bent, Taarabt...

Could be contenders for Europa League.* *if they replace Fairplay with a 'Sulk & Strop' qualification
Pastor Patrón Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Seriously though, why is no one in for Ronaldinho? Think he's out of contract in the next few months and is still a beast Only club I've heard linked is Fenerbahce.

Lighthouse Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 I think Bent and Berbatov might win the award for least movement in a strike partnership. Both probably score a few though. I think Hasselbaink and Fowler at Cardiff a few years ago might have given them a run for their money.
Pastor Patrón Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Wages? Age? He's on £2.6mill a year according to google, isn't that half of what Osvaldo would be? For what we be arguably the best player to ever play in the prem. He's only 33, not that old.

Think he's out of contract in the next few months and is still a beast Only club I've heard linked is Fenerbahce. He is enjoying being a hero in his home country. With his career winding down why would he leave?
Pastor Patrón Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 He is enjoying being a hero in his home country. With his career winding down why would he leave? Could've said the same about Del Piero. Be a great way to finish his career, playing in the prem and would make our profile explode.
Smirking_Saint Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 He has an impressive beer gut these days
Colinjb Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 Could've said the same about Del Piero. Be a great way to finish his career, playing in the prem and would make our profile explode. A subtle difference that Del Piero would still need to be at full tilt in his own homeland. In Australia any decline in ability will mean nothing, just like with Ronaldinho in his native Brazil. can't compare Serie A with the A league.

I really couldn't see it being any harder then getting in Damiao or Osvaldo, granted we've signed neither yet but you get my point.
Colinjb Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 I really couldn't see it being any harder then getting in Damiao or Osvaldo, granted we've signed neither yet but you get my point. In terms of profile... yes. But in terms of motivation, there is a world of difference.
Pastor Patrón Posted 15 August, 2013 Posted 15 August, 2013 In terms of profile... yes. But in terms of motivation, there is a world of difference. Just generally in terms of signing him, I think it'd be an easier deal to pull off. The guy's a footballing god and would work a treat in our system. But meh, I'm sure I'll cope with Osvaldo.

The guy's a footballing god and would work a treat in our system. But meh, I'm sure I'll cope with Osvaldo. He may only be 33, but no. He's not the man he was at Barcelona. A colleague of mine in Brazil supports Mineiro and he loves him, yet, he is loving life back in Brazil... to move away again would be totally bizarre. He has reinvigorated himself by going home. He can earn millions there and be a hero. It makes no sense for him to leave, especially when he has essentially nothing to prove. And yes: I also would be happy to 'cope' with Osvaldo! haha.
Naboo_thats_who Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 So, assuming Osvaldo and Damiao are not going to happen. Who shoould we turn our attentions to upfront? Or are we happy with Mayuka as back up?
niceandfriendly Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 Scott Parker to QPR? But... Parker is class! Very confused.
Window Cleaner Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 Scott Parker to QPR? But... Parker is class! Very confused. Parker is also pushing on a bit, didn't show enough to retain his place in a PL side last season. Still he'll be back again with QPR next season.
Wade Garrett Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 So, assuming Osvaldo and Damiao are not going to happen. Who shoould we turn our attentions to upfront? Or are we happy with Mayuka as back up? Defoe, still got plenty of goals left in him.
sotonist Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 Scott Parker to QPR? But... Parker is class! Very confused. They only picked up Barton when they failed to sign Parker. Second time lucky.
Smirking_Saint Posted 16 August, 2013 Posted 16 August, 2013 I imagine Harry still think QPR aren't favourites despite adding another premier league player. Never known a manager need so much quality to achieve so little. So if you were in his position and TF was agreeing to spend money you wouldnt be taking him up on the offer and filling the team with players who personally I think are going to do v well in the NPC ?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 16 August, 2013 Author Posted 16 August, 2013 I imagine Harry still think QPR aren't favourites despite adding another premier league player. Never known a manager need so much quality to achieve so little. He is looking for the Pompey equivalent of Paul Merson - Parker is a very good signing for QPR. However with that team even I could get QPR promoted.
