*sigh* we was doing a joke dalek! I feel ur not playing! See you was saying that you wouldn't get abuse if you had a different name, so I offered you my logon yeah? You remember that? It was only last page!

 

Here is the joke: I immediately start making Dalek statements in weird Dalek voice. The idea is people think ur logged on as me. Then ur sposed to start making Bearsy statements in Bearsy voice like I'm logged as you, and then... I hadn't thought it through that far. Trust me, it was v.lols tho. And You Ruined It!

Saints have a lot to answer for. The lack of 50 signings has left our threads like this. The others all seem to say last post dune or Glasgow so I'm to click and spend another hour in despair at the human race. Oh for a competitive football match to talk about.

I agree that it's getting beyond a joke now. There are some genuinely sad ****ers out there that fill the best part of their day getting "lols" out of winding people up on a website. Shame, as this used to be a decent place to get up to date info' on my Football Club. Not difficult to rectify it imo.

Totally agree. I hope that when the football actually starts thing might improve but I doubt it. These "characters" spoil every thread. The lunatics really have taken over the asylum.

Sadly have to agree. This site has become a clash of egos rather then a place for discussing football. The 'discussing' point is key. It's becoming just as bad as when Stu was shouting in every thread.

What are we gonna do about it? seems most are calling for harsh treatment of the trolls or kicking them out. Steve Grant seems a great fella but I am surprised he has not put his foot down.

 

Not a question of freedom of speech for me when you are dealing with blantent wums.

 

I have paid happily for ages but am registered user now cos I can't stand the trolls. How about a poll or a change of rules?

Anyway, hope anyone vaguely actually ITK will keep posting. Otherwise just be good to keep it about players you'd like, have seen, whatever.

 

I'm still struggling to think of many great strikers out there. Surely the current FM players still know loads, or is it as sparse as I think? Even playing Fifa, and I tend to try out all teams, you find a shortage of decent strikers now outside the top 10 or so in the world. I'd never heard of Osvaldo before this summer though so hopefully there are plenty like him.

 

I liked Adrian Lopez (not just the name) and we were linked but that went quiet. Good player who went off the boil, so seemed like a good chance. Still want Sinclair but seems he'll start the season against us. Haven't been linked though have we. You'd think with his brother here we'd at least get to talk to him if interested so I guess we aren't.

 

Don't agree with all the Norwich praise. Well, possibly good signings for them yes, but I don't think those signings would have been greeted the same here. Who knows how any will do.

 

I liked Guiseppe Rossi but doubt Fiorentina would let him go so soon.

 

And even strikers who are fairly average now cost an absolute premium. To bring in a proven goal scorer (at the right level) now cost a fortune and are wanted by numerous clubs which is what we are up against now.

Us and many others. You look at Kone, who many would say did well...I think I'd say he did quite well too, but he scored 10 or 11 goals. That was considered poor to average not so long ago. Or maybe I'm old and it's actually quite a while ago! Still, it's not exactly free scoring is it. Strikers who have a short purple patch get signed up quickly too, or show any promise over a full season.

 

I don't think it's foreign players stopping English strikers coming through, so much as a lack of strikers being played. 20 main striker positions in the Premier league, so pretty hard to get in there. Even a lot of championship clubs do it, although we made the most of lambert/barnard and lambert/sharp or guly in the lower leagues, so more chance for strikers.

 

Seems odd that good strikers would just disappear. Would be interested to see Seager get a chance anyway. Someone needs to give the youngsters a go at some point, might as well be us.

 

No, it doesn't seem that long ago when a 10 goal season was considered very average and certainly not worth a £6M move. After Rickie has gone, what chance do we have of signing a striker capable of scoring over 100 goals for the club without spending an insane amount of money? Assuming we stay at this level of course.

I'm sure others on here have stated similar thoughts [i can't be bothered to trawl through pages and pages of utter drivel to find them] but I haven't seen too many people even considering that some players don't perform well at every club they go to.

 

After all Southampton fans '**** waste of time' player can be Bolton's 'go-to-hero'. Most people on here have been watching football long enough to realise this surely?

 

It's the same as taking every poor game or defeat as definite sign of the 'crappiness' or our team when from game to game players and teams can perform so incredibly differently.

 

So dismissing players that have 'only scored' seven goals last season or claiming twenty goal scorers 'guarantees you goals' does seem to be overall a bit naive to me.

 

It would be nice if everyone settled down a bit for next season so this place is actually worth a regular visit or two.

 

Finally.

1. I have no rumours about players but I am frustrated that Saints have not yet beefed up their attacking options;

2. I have a bad feeling about this coming season, I'm generally optimistic and I have no reason to be pessimistic, but I just do feel this way at the moment;

3. I did not renew my Forum membership quite a while back for the same reasons already stated;

No one has a problem with banter....this forum has decended into the nasty bullyboy playground of a minority that ambush every thread and consistently spout the same stuff on every thread and take it off topic....their ego's are such that they cannot bear not being the centre of attention. This used to be a great place to come and chat about about Saints related stuff but now its just boring as hell having to read the same drivel from the same people on every thread.

No matter what our club does these people will never be happy....they are the sort of people that will always find fault!

So true that is why I will not pay any more. Just become a site for 6 - 10 w....rs. Have been on here since the days of TOSSA but it is now .......... not a real forum:rolleyes:

Good post and very well put. I'm not too sure your opening sentence has been echoed on other posts too often - it seems as though it's easier for people to be black or white in opinions (which are somewhat strentghened by the anonimity of a keyboard) ;).

 

IMHO, I think the pre season work done with the players will have been more beneficial than last season. I have a sneaking feeling that our attacking options already in place will prove to be good value, if not set the PL alight, as both JR and AL consolidate their experience (and are more settled now - JR with relocation, AL with a young family) with more belief and flair that was a bit sporadic last "term". Lambert, will hopefully, operate with the mindset of a player who knows that realistically, he has maybe 2 seasons left at this level and will play with an honesty, calmness and intelligence which both brings players into and takes opposing players out of, our attacking thrust. Of course he did that a lot last year, but wasn't always supported well enough. If JR, AL/JP, GR and the solid midfielders can work as they finished last season and support SRL more often I think we can convert more chances this outing. For me the stats last season were quite revealing - game after game we created more than our fair share of goalscoring opportunities compared to teams around us, but failed to convert. I think we will be slightly more efficient this season and i hope the training has been working on that.

 

I would like a big signing up front too, but even if nothing happens, I have a optimistic feeling about this coming season and am confident that the management staff have improved the squad - maybe not as much as we would have liked with signings - but as a collective unit that is greater than the sum of its parts in their belief and collaboration on the pitch. Allied to a season under the belt and I am hopeful we will be a more efficient team and will continue to grow, hopefully into a team that never occupies the bottom 8 places. And as the season starts, it means that this forum has a lot more stuff to occupy its time with and the quality of posts may get better -maybe! :)

I believe we'll be nestled mid-table once again, with the odd blip now and then that will get people shouting that we should've strengthened etc. I reckon Poch and his staff probably believe that with SRL, JRod and Mayuka (with the slight possibility of Sharp coming into the mix), that we've got a strike force that can do a job. We've strengthened at the back and in midfield. We've got some talented youth coming through the ranks. Add to the mix that the affordable talent on the market is probably no better than what we have + the whole issue of retaining the excellent squad spirit and you begin to realise that signing just an average Joe will be counter-productive.

Lyon desperate to balnce the books as per usual are now shipping out Lisandro Lopez to Doha, couldn't get rid of Gomis so they suddenly ship out their other main striker and keep Gomis, probably give him a new contract. Lopez isn't bad at all, will be totally wasted in Doha, still I guess he wants a lot of money and everything has to be squared away instantly in the Aulas system.

Yep, we sure pick them, but it seems we have been seeking a loose cannon all along, what with Osvaldo, Cardoza (didn't he have a mega strop at Benfica ?), and Naingollan linked ( bloke who looks like Nigel Quashie and has a Mohican - must be unbalanced).

I'm wary of these judgements when we haven't seen him play. Might have played on the wing, been sub, injured, scored all 14 last season or whatever.

 

True, but there have never been many positive stories about this fella. He's either falling out with the fans due to his poor form, getting remmoved from the squad for a period of time, or beating up his team mates...
