Glasgow_Saint Posted 24 July, 2013 Author Posted 24 July, 2013 Im looking forward to transfer deadline day......
itchen_dan Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 Should 100% end for buying clubs the day before your first league game of the season. Totally agree. Once the season starts, the squad you have is yours. Teams have had all summer to get the deals done but some like to leave it until the last minute. This is why you see a lot of panic buys and big fees.

Plus it often overshadows the first month of matches. Fair enough you can still sell to another country that has an open window to buy, but you shouldnt be able to add more players after the first game.

Glasgow_Saint Posted 24 July, 2013 Author Posted 24 July, 2013 I think transfers should be allowed all year - would add 200 million posts to Twitter very year
itchen_dan Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 which would still happen regardless of when the window shuts No because there is 4 weeks less time to do deals in so decisions will have to be made early and not panic decisions based upon early season results.
Saint Garrett Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 The things that need to change IMO. 1) Transfer window to shut before the first game of the season. 2) No loans over the age of 20 in the Prem/same division.
ART Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 Having a laugh, Bradley Wright Philipps off to play in the States subjet to a visa. Don't those with a record notable to get a USA Visa?

Glasgow_Saint Posted 24 July, 2013 Author Posted 24 July, 2013 With Hooper joining QPR, does Remy become more possible for us?
Saint Charlie Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 With Hooper joining QPR, does Remy become more possible for us? No, too much off field drama.
SNSUN Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 With Hooper joining QPR, does Remy become more possible for us? I thought he was destined for West Ham...

itchen_dan Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 Duvan Zapata http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/southampton-transfer-newssaints-weigh-up-2086461 Genuinely looks like a very good finisher from the video included...

Anyone know what was the trouble with his work permit for West Ham? If he didn´t get it then, why would he now...?
Saint Charlie Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 David Sullivan did a twitter Q&A on Sunday and was adamant he wouldnt get a WP which is why they lost stopped the move.
thorpie the sinner Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 Duvan Zapata http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/southampton-transfer-newssaints-weigh-up-2086461 Genuinely looks like a very good finisher from the video included... Heard this was a real contender!

itchen_dan Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 Just watching the entire video and he seems very Benteke-esque. Strong, tall, powerful, plenty of headed goals, picks the ball up and runs with it with good footwork. Bit of a gem here maybe if true? I'm quite excited by it. This type of signing wouldn't usually get me interested but I'm quite intrigued.
Pastor Patrón Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 I'm only interest in players who cost at least £8mill tbh.

itchen_dan Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 tancredipalmeri: West Ham's target Duvan Zapata is negotiating with Sassuolo, according to Sky Italy
Olallana Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 btw, did Allardyce knew he was only 22 or did he found out and therefore invented the work permit story..??
Bewildered Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 Tancredi Palmeri @tancredipalmeri 1m West Ham's target Duvan Zapata is negotiating with Sassuolo, according to Sky Italy
saintrich Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 Why would we get a work permit if west ham can't?
charliemiller Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 Duvan Zapata http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/southampton-transfer-newssaints-weigh-up-2086461 Genuinely looks like a very good finisher from the video included... Classed as an outstanding talent he will not qualify for a permit in the normal way it will go straight to representative appeal , if enough high profile people from the football world say he is a wonder kid he will get a permit . its how united and city etc get the young Brazilians before they qualify by appearances

SaintsCorner Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 Don't think there's any chance of Zapata getting a work permit- he's nowhere near the Columbia squad, so can't get it normally, & that in itself suggests he's not an outstanding talent.
SuperMikey Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 Looks like a good player though, very powerful and pretty pacy too. If we could somehow get a work permit for him then he'd be a good option for us to have!

He is on the verge of the Columbian squad and is very highly expected to be in their World Cup squad next summer. He is tipped as the next player to follow in the footsteps of Falcao and Jackson Martinez to make a big impact in Europe and some places in Columbia and Europe value him as high as £10m He's been linked with Borussia Dortmund, Lyon, Benfica and Porto. I would class these points as making him an outstanding talent. Age is on his side as well for the work permit application.

charliemiller Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 Why would we be able to get a work permit for him and west ham not? Assuming west ham actually applied
ThreeSixty Posted 24 July, 2013 Posted 24 July, 2013 And what realistically can we do that Wham weren't able to do? West Ham have 2 market traders for chairmen. We have the don.
Huge Baboon Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 I believe we managed to get a WP for Tadanari Lee as an "outstanding talent", so we have some experience in such matters. Of course, given how little he has played, that may count against us! We could argue that Lee was good enough for the league we were in at the time.

He had played for Japan though and scored the winner in the Asia Cup.
Saint_clark Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 And what realistically can we do that Wham weren't able to do? Actually apply? The whole "outstanding talent" thing is such a loose term, it's very rare a work permit gets turned down on appeal for Premier League clubs.
Huge Baboon Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 That's a good point, this would be a harder sell, based on potential, which is obviously harder to prove.
hutch Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 And what realistically can we do that Wham weren't able to do? Wham are offering a pony in a plain brown envelope. We're offering part of a pony wrapped in a bedsheet. Allegedly.
DuncanRG Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 (edited) And what realistically can we do that Wham weren't able to do? I'm not gonna ask what they want with Duvan Zapata. Edited 25 July, 2013 by DuncanRG

Lighthouse Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 He just phoned Cortese and said, "I'm you're man!"
Suhari Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 He just phoned Cortese and said, "I'm you're man!" He won't have answered you though. I happen to know he is out of the country - on holiday in fact. Can't quite remember where, but apparently the drinks are free, and there is enough fun and sunshine for everyone.

mynameisthehulk Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 I think I know the place you mean, we went there last Christmas. Are you off there again this year, if so, will you wake me up before you go go....?
Window Cleaner Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 Wham are offering a pony in a plain brown envelope. We're offering part of a pony wrapped in a bedsheet. Allegedly. why offer part of a pony when we've got donkeys aplenty to offer.
SuperSAINT Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 (Just for the record, as we were linked) Nottingham Forest FC@Official_NFFC #NFFC have announced the signing of Olympiacos winger Djamel Abdoun for an undisclosed fee.
MerceSaint28 Posted 25 July, 2013 Posted 25 July, 2013 what are our scouts doing??? ;-) http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/328630/Manchester-United-and-Arsenal-beaten-to-wonderkid-signing-Bernard-Malanda-Adje-by-Fulham?
