Didn't hear that myself so couldn't have been all that loud.

were you at the ground or watching TV? Whole Saints support sang it clearly. Loud enough for Nigel to hear that's for sure. He kjows what we think of him.

The third being the inaccurate assertion that 'Gaston was crap'. He wasn't amazing, did good and bad but you can see he has class, and if we can train more of the good and less of the bad out of him in the close season we will have a special player on our hands.

Spot on Sir

Here is 11 mins of post-match analysis of the game from USA TV. Includes the goals etc & some good things said about Saints. I especially like when they look at the next 6 games for both teams. 'Southampton will be looking up the table now'

Ouch, that must have hurt Ian 'Inky' Darke, big p****y supporter. Laugh at him desperately trying to talk up a Reading goal that got that got away when Boruc carried the ball back.

"Can you see a millimetre or two of green between the ball and the post?"

No Ian, you can't. It was never a goal and you know it.

Was in the away end. Missed about the first 2 minutes and went down a minute before half time but apart from that I didn't hear "One Nigel Adkins" at all. Maybe I was too p*ssed..

Were you in the actual end opposite the Saints Fans? Were there many other Saints fans? We were in the away end and saw a couple of quite respectable looking fans chucked out by stewards. They both gave a wave to our Saints away end and it didn't look sarcastic! I suspect they were saints fans who could not sit on their hands and cheered the goals. Fair play!

Was that you who got ejected Griffo?

It's called plan B. designed to cope with the long ball game utilised by some the lesser tams in the league. MP's set up was spot on. The criticism about our game only suited to the football playing sides like Chelsea and Liverpool has hopefully been put to bed. Take another look at the stats and you will see we were a class apart.

We certainly weren't a class apart in the opening 30 minutes and the goal from Rodriguez came very much against the run of play. Reading had chances to have taken the lead during that period but thankfully their finishing was poor. Yes, we certainly looked a cut above them when we were two up and full of confidence and the Reading players' heads had dropped. Funny really that our stats against some of the top teams showed far more shots on goal than against the bottom teams. And as I say, plan B could have been undone even by some poor refereeing decisions, had Rodriguez's goal been disallowed for a foul on the keeper, Hooiveld penalised for his tackle to give away a penalty, or their shot having been considered to have crossed the line.

It will be interesting to see which plan we employ for the remaining fixtures. I'm guessing plan A for Swansea, Spurs and West Brom, but plan B for West Ham and Stoke. I don't know which for Sunderland. Maybe plan C?

I was in the away end as in 'our end'. The away end in the stadium.

Sorry! I didn't read your post properly. It felt like the home end though didn't it? Not much noise from Reading though.

I did like one of their songs though. To the tune of 'Adam Lallana makes Messi look shixx.' You're nothing special, we lose very week.

The 2 fans ejected were to our left approx 1/4 up the stand.

Did you see that?

You are a nutter. Two promotions in two seasons is clearly great. He is and always will be a Southampton great.
I might be 'a nutter' in your poor tired head but we all look at things differently. He did well on both occasions but not a great, both times we should have won the league especially last season.I can only assume that NC thought so as well.

I doubt even with the benefit of hindsight you'll find many who will agree with that assertion.

so you think we should not have been overtaken by Reading??? Or am I misunderstanding your post

I think you're misunderstanding it.

At the start of the season, we were not serious promotion contenders. Even on the poll on here the majority of people had us down for playoffs at best. It's re-writing history to suggest that getting usurped by Reading at the death means that it was an unsuccessful season. By any yardstick from the start of the season it was a rampaging success.

That I can agree with but the same would have been said qbout Readings chances. The position we had got ourselves in and well ahead of Reading it was poor not to win the league.

It was disappointing. It wasn't poor. We were never out of the top two all season; if anyone had been offered that at the start of the season you'd have bitten their arm off for it, it was so unexpected. You're judging a league campaign over a handful of games, rather than looking at the successful big picture. To actually get into a position to challenge for the title in the first was a cracking achievement, and to see it through to promotion will always stay with me as a brilliant season from all concerned, including the manager. Fair enough if you see it otherwise and see it as a failure, I myself can only see the positives.

. Getting promotion was brilliant and that will be remembered but to me not to put NA in the 'great' category.

Why did NA not bring on the big forward, he had nothing to lose to go for it but took off Robson-kanu . To be fair to Redknapp he would have gone for it and if they had got 1 goal back who knows what would have happened. They went out with a whimper IMo

Fair enough. Harsh in my opinion, but your choice. For me I'll always remember his tenure here as a huge, huge success with no downside at all; he did everything that was asked of him and more, and left the club on an upturn in 15th place in the PL. The man has earned all my respect and then some, even if he was perhaps not the man to take us on further at this level.

I don't think you will find many (if any) who agree with you. As for me I disagree with pretty much everything you write so it's not that surprising that you have said this.

I was in the home section of the south stand, towards the corner. There were about 8 saints fans in a corporate section nearby who openly and passionately celebrated both our goals, and no one seemed to be bothered, notwithstanding there were non-corporate fans all around them (though as i posted before, it was hard to tell if most of the home fans near me were even awake)

Fair play to them too!

According to Le Fondre, J-Rod should have been sent off - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2305490/Adam-Le-Fondre-says-Jay-Rodriguez-sent-off.html.

How are those grapes Adam? Touch on the sour side perhaps? ;-)

Why just sent off? 25 game ban and community service surely? Nothing to do with your glaring miss Adam. Let me know when you get back from la la land

I was in that group - even singing Saints songs at times and only one threatening look from 12 yo kid.

Was like being at the rugby
