Cannot believe people on here are having a go at Ramirez, his link up play with Ricky and Jay was very good, he may not be scoring but was not playing badly. It what he does off the ball and his link up play that I think people are not seeing. Anyway a good 3 points that near as damn it puts us safe this season. 3 points against Wet Sham next week and we will not be caught.

Great win, never really in doubt. Loved The Boruc moments.

Dear Lord Gary O'Reily is a DREADFUL Pundit. ROFL at Abu Dhabi losing the Commentary and so we had to listen to Andy Townsend and (wait for it, No Really) Brian McDermott chatting about the first 10 mins of the second half.

Think half the audience hung themselves Strewth how dull is McDermott, but he did have a :snork: on his face at the end.

And what a tremendous effort by the Dubai Massive. With the banned forever 'cos we win when he ain't with us Eric away we still mustered 17 at the pub.

We had a Sandstorm AND while you lot were in the Sunshine WE sat in the RAIN!

On top of all that two of the lads were interviewed on National Radio here during the game. And they avoided swearing!

This, my only concern about Gaston is he cant last 90 mins.

Another one of my predictions wrong !!!!

Keep making them Dalek - keep making them!

Super result, another one of my predictions right!

- Provides the evidence the Press needs to acknowledge Saints are not flooking wins but have a good manager and team.

- Puts to bed the Adkins/MP debate

- Sends Reading down and claws us back some North Hants fans to help push on with expansion.

- Gives us another potential England man in J-Rod (we could see Lambert, Clyne, Shaw and J Rod in an England shirt soon)

- Vindicates Cortese.

We're going to be the Barcelona of English football. All we need now are red and white shirts back!

Fantastic day - we are Premier League. AND STAYING THERE FOR MANY YEARS.

Good point made on whatever channel I was watching.....Boruc is mad enough to go in for a ball where the studs are flying and he knows he will take a kicking. .......I'm making the hand sign of the heavy metal devil here with the little finger and index finger representing little horns, but you can't see it.

I wish people would lay off Jos a bit. He got the ball, so no penalty. Had he stood away and they had scored he would have been at fault for not going in. The guy just can't please anyone it seems!

He didnt get the ball and he did against Chelsea too but was lucky Hazard decided to carry on. Too many lazy legs for which he was getting punished at the beginning of the season and is getting away with them now. We were lucky, but it's part of it.

I'd still rather see Fonte in there.

About the game, a bit of a copy from the 1st one at SMS. We dominated and apart from scares often caused by us not being as assertive as we should clearing our lines we won the game with no real trouble.

Most importantly, I think we're a win away of definitely being a Premier League team next season.

This is very good as it gives us a chance of building earlier than most teams, so West Ham could be key. The sooner the better, but I think it's fair to say it's been an exciting first season back! COYR

Jos was outstanding today

What do you mean by outstanding? Not conceding an own goal? Not giving away a penalty? A goal?

Impressive how standards drop when we speak about Hooiveld, yet criticism of Yoshida or even Fonte or any other player on the pitch was almost necessary in every single game.

Great win. Just back home now. First 30 mins we were under pressure but hey, new manager, must win game and all that, so perhaps expected. Rode our luck from failing to clear set plays a few times but goal settled things down brilliantly. Jay Rod was MOTM and the link up with Lambert and Gaston (and later Adam) was excellent.

Jay very unlucky to hit the bar, from another super pass by Gaston, just after we scored. Controlled the game 2nd half, just too easy at times and we should have had more.

I was in the half of the South Stand for home fans. Had no trouble blending in, as from the kick off it was hard to know if many of those around me were actually awake. No atmosphere from 90% of the "Reading faithful" even when they were on top at the start. Apart from being a very handy away game for me, they will not be missed.

I was the first one to wonder what mp was doing leaving Fonte out but jos swallowed everything up today. Improved greatly. Why are we even questioning the managers decisions. He obv likes gaston and jos and I will go along with him.

What a result, apart from the first 20 mins we dominated the game. Could, and probably should of had 4 or 5 but a win is a win.

MOTM was JRod for me, really improved under MP, as have the team. Only "negative" was Hooiveld. played ok, but passing was awful, seemed to find Morrison more than Lambert. Only had to out-jump a 4"7 Le Fondre. Shaw also seemed to struggle today. I know he isn't the biggest but I'd like to see him attempt to challenge for headers, it puts us under so much pressue - but he's young and i'm sure he'll improve with experience.

Lallana showed his class when he came on a Davies has to be signing of the season. We also need to get Boruc signed up.

Thankfully we have someone running the club and not some of the bed-wetters on here, or we'd still be managed by NA, have De Ridder/Gazzanigga/Sharp still playing and probably be in Reading's position. Roll on West Ham!

Highest amount of defensive clearances in the match.

Obviously this was a great result, and at times we played some lovely stuff. But our defending can be comical on occasion. We seem to struggle to clear our lines, and we certainly lack composure at set pieces. Davis was MOM for me, closely followed by JayRod. 3 more points should do it.

Lambert Rodriguez and Gaston all linking up together is a joy to watch.

Gaston should have scored but apart from finishing he played some excellent stuff

Agree and that's what Jamie redknapp and ray Wilkins said'rather think they know what they are on about than the usual clap trap about certain players posted on here.

how is it? All are not premier league quality?

You just threw names in there willy nilly. NA would not be playing Sharp. Probably not Gazza at this stage either. Look, I'm happy with the way things are right now, NC, MP and everything, but you were talking crap about what you thought NA MIGHT be doing right now. It was petty and disrespectful.

Dion Dublin and Garth Crooks drooling over the impact Pochettino has had on the Saints team on Final Score just now. "Much more belief and fluidity than under Adkins - showing the confidence and freedom of a continental side"

if you actually read my post, it was based on the opinions and bed-wetters at the time of some decision on here, not what NA would be doing.

Just back from the game. I was sat in the middle of the Reading faithful, as my company has season tickets to Reading. I must say they were very quiet, not vocal enough especially when Reading were in the accendency for the first 10-15 minutes. I was disappointed that they didn't join in with the Saints fans to sing 'There is only one Nigel Adkins.' as I thought they might.

Onto the game, I though J Rod, SRL, Ramirez played well, also hats off to Clyne and Shaw who seemed to stop them playing theior game. I though Steve Davis played well, and was surprised he didn't get his goal. Finally a big up for Boruc as his acrobatics wound up a number of Reading fans, especially his one handed keeept up by knocking it up and moving it across the area. Be interested to see if he did save the one on the line, as the Blue hopefuls screamed foul.

On the TV replay you couldn't see the edge of the ball pitch side of the post but by the same token you couldn't see a gap between the ball and the post on the other side. So, given that element of doubt the officials made the right decision.

I'm a supposedly mature (yeah right) 44 year old bloke who is still walking around the house clapping at comments like this I keep hearing from pundits today. Time for beer number 4...

we all know would have been a different game had ALF scored that chance and ref gave a penalty. As always, fine lines, need a bit of luck, then class, desire and fitness take over. Such an easy second half, for once as well AL got the killer goal!

The difference between him and Federici. Reading were moaning about Saints first goal, but Federici bottled it. It's times like that you need your keeper to be brave. Boruc would have been out to smother it and clatter the forward at the same time. I'm old enough to remember Bob Wilson breaking Hugh Fisher's leg in a similar situation.

Sky were trying to make J-Rod's challenge a controversial talking point but both Wilkins and Son of The Twitch said J-Rod wanted it more, which is as near as an ex-pro will come to saying the keeper bottled.

Boruc wouldn't have choked in a similar situation.

Yep, that was exactly my reading of it. The worst part is, when Federici realised he had lost out he rolled over holding his face, the dirty cheating git.
