Saints v MAN UTD

And what point was that ? Apart from the obvious "I can urinate higher than you" point ?

No - its the I'm a man of principle until suddenly my principles might mean that I miss a mouth-watering match. To those that stand by it then hats off to them even though I disagree with them. Those who don't are being hypocrites. And by the way - this is my last reply to you. I refuse to get involved in one of those endless threads where your replies become more and more convoluted until I completely lose the point of them.

So, all those who have been lecturing about "Get behind the team FFS" and "Keep the faith" and "I dont give a shiitt in the boardroom, I am a fan of the club" are now coming out with snide comments because our FA Cup 3rd Round draw is likely to draw a full house.

So not only do they lecture others about their lack of attendance, they now feel they have some right to veto which matches people come back for.

And despite them counselling about the financial survival of the club, some of them would rather the fair-weather fans didnt turn up so they can continue to wallow in their self-perceived and paid-for positions of moral superiority.

You couldnt make it up.

Shiit club, shiit fans....

Saints should make fans go to 2 home games to qualify for UTD game.

That way the likes of Windmill arms 2 and Alpine who NEVER go to games wont get tickets before genuine fans/supporters

And means for people like me and my daughter who live in west midlands but are visiting family in Romsey for New Years wont be able to go coz we cant afford to buy another 4 tickets as well as 2 for Man Utd.

A fantastic draw for SFC in term of revenue, and even better should we get a draw and then a replay up at old trafford (in financial terms).

Although it will be great to get a full house at St Mary's its a shame it is only going to happen because of the opposition.

I just wonder how many of the so called stay away until lowe & wilde are gone crowd will suddenly forget their pledge...

Time to start checking the posts and spotting them as im sure they will slip up in something they say lol....

A good decent cup draw and you children are sat on here ****ing arguing.

Pathetic. Grow up ffs.

I agree completely. There is no down-side to this draw at all. The club wins.

It's just a f**king shame certain individuals feel it is cause to score Brownie points about who is a real fan or not.

It seems a shame to to focus on the loyal / fairweather fan to be honest (even though I did have a quip myself). To be honest Alpine Saint is at least standing up for himself which you won't see others doing.

I mentioned it earlier only because the original argument of stayaways - that they would 'never return whislt Lowe and Wilde were at the club' was so pathetic I don't think anyone really bought it.

I don't personally see the term plastic fan as a term of abuse, merely accurate. But whether you are a season ticket or a plastic fan, you should get down to the SMS for this game because you will be impressed by what you see from both teams

Even you can see the irony and hypocricy of fans who claim to have been protesting about the Chairmanship of the club and staying away as a result, who rush back at the first chance to see Manchester United??

Or are you really stupid?

For me, so long as the hypocrites do not prevent genuine fans attending there is no issue.

But some humble pie from the high-moral brigade wouldn't go amiss...

I'm not advocating to anyone that they should stay away at all due to their stance. I find it funny thats all.

As I said earlier it'll hopefully get more people behind the team in the run up to this game.

I just don't understand where all your frustration comes from and quite frankly can't comprehend it.

I maybe a sh*t fan and follow a sh*t club but hey thats my choice. And yes you could make it up as I'm sure many other clubs have been or going through the same process us as at one point or another.

First of all, it hasnt happened yet.

Unless the club does the usual database history check, I find it much more likely the ground will be as equally filled by ManYoo fans from Surrey sneaking in to the home areas as fairweather Saints fans. And I reckon the club wont refer to the database because they will want to ensure the ground is full.

I keeping reading that the clubs financial survival is paramount; therefore the hypocrisy charge should be trivia.

But lo and behold, suddenly its as important....

Lets put it this way: If you/TDD/Scabby/sunburnt breast etc actually turn up for this match I will be pleasantly suprised

On a serious note, it is vital that all fans who HAVE been supporting the team this season are given a fair crack at the tickets over and above the Premiership fans.

It would be a travesty if those who have turned out in the wind and rain to see us get stuffed miss out.

how about those, who have had a season ticket since they were 4 years old (1994) but havnt got one this year, or been to a game this year because they are studying in a different part of the country and can't afford to travel back???

I will be down over christmas and would love to go to this game, will be attending all games over christmas. have you taken in to consideration that people can't make every game?

No we shouldn't change ticket prices for non-season ticket holders, hardly surprising the ones suggesting this would be unaffected by the change.

And what is wrong with this fan base, we get a good draw in the cup and everyone's moaning about one thing or another to do with it. Contradiction after contradiction just beautiful

From the moment you are backed into a corner, can't hold a reasoned debate, and you have to change tack to evade answering questions.

Anyway, more pressing issues to discuss than answer your'e argumentative drivel.

Really ? I dont feel backed into a corner, though I'd feel pretty stupid about calling fellow fans "plastic" when I am fully aware how desperate for the money the club I claim to love is....

So that's your view.

It doesn't matter if real fans who have attended all season are usurped by those who will attend once this season and then clear off once Burnley and Blackpool come to town?

I always knew you held fellow fans in contempt but even for you this is poor, really poor.

Who is talking about "usurping" ?

Do the maths, FFS. Our attendance has been 17,000 or less ALL SEASON, about 5,000 to ManYoo and the ground holds 32,500.

And ST holders (the "omnipotent ones") get the chance to have their usual seat.

Have just just finished a particularly heavy roast dinner or something ? Mental powers not what they are usually ?

Not sure about draw, on one hand its great, I can't wait, a world class squad (notice I didn't say team) probably a full house etc etc but on the other hand, ponder these:

1. WE PLAY BETTER AWAY.

2. Would you rather we get 45% of the receipts at SMS or OT, FA cup rules means 90% of gate is split equally between both teams, other 10% to FA.

3. Yes our youngsters will be up for it BUT will Jan be allowed to play them because they will become cup-tied,( loan players included in that as well as possible sellers) or if they do play and play like we know they can, end up being sold because the tie is so early in January and they'll be putting themselves in the window.

4. Man U get the whole of the Northam, our atmosphere will be blown to all areas of the ground and break up, which is a pity.

5. A draw would be good, because we get more money and an away trip to OT.

6. If we lose at least we have gone out to a top notch outfit, not Notts county, P'boro, Rotherham and Bristol Rovers to name just a few.

7. The smug look on rup's face as his wallet bulges.

8. Or am I being to negative and should I just enjoy the occasion come what may?

Whatever happens I will be there as always. COYR's

Might have to get along to this game. Will be my first for about a year. I know someone who works at the club, so will probably get my tickets at the same time as the STHs.

Whoop whoop.

You know theres rules against baiting, right? Plenty will think you're genuine

Who says they will be rushing back at the 'first chance'? I won't (but I don't begrudge others if they do).

My decision to stay away was about Lowe, whilst he stays nothing has changed.

I think you are getting ahead of yourself.

Doesn't fit their "I'm a better fan than you" line of argument ;)

Just to show I am consistent, I will not be attending this game. I shall in all likelihood be sat at home, in front of a real fire, watching us lose yet again on TV; screaming abuse at every decision the blatantly biased ref gives in favour of Trafford United, ( as my true blue wife constantly says, there is only one team that plays in Manchester ); heading every clearance, blasting every shot, committing to every tackle, making every dive with KD. I only hope we put in a better performance than our last televised FA Cup match.

On the other hand, we do have some 'history'; 6-3, the 'wrong colour shirts' match, the spirit of '76, MLT vs Taibi :D, revenge for the last game of our last ( 'so far' ) Premiership season.

COYR, Pride of the south !

After meeting Jan and the boys last night I am pleased that they have got this draw. They will be buzzing and I say good for them.

If it is on TV the game WILL NOT sell out so everyone that wants a ticket will get one so can we put to bed this hollow argument please?

The comments from some on this thread sadden me and it does feel like there is a discussion going on that has little importance or relevance.

Personally I have not yet been to a home game this season. I have my reasons and none of them are a boycott. I am actually in Southampton on the 3rd as I fly back from Edinburgh after New Year’s. Will I go to the game? Probably not! I would rather make the trip down to watch us against Forest.

There are what 9k ST holders?

That means 8k fans (some of whom will be members admittedly) fighting it out with the 25k who will suddenly want to attend to see Ronaldo and will have their finger hovering above redial the moment tickets go on sale.

Can we at least agree that people who HAVE been this season should be given a priority over those who have not?

A game we are more likely to lose given our record. ;)

The last FA Cup third round tie we had on terrestrial TV was when we trounced Spurs 4-0 in what was the most ultimate display of total football I have ever seen.

But we have got spanked by Newcastle and humilated by Brissol Rovers on terrestrial TV since then.

Can I also predict within half an hour of the final whistle at least six saints fans will be on this forum whinging and *****ing about how biased against Saints the coverage was.

Also, the club should bundle the tickets for the game and insist that fans have to buy tickets for at least two other home games in January. Lots of other clubs do it (Derby did it for the Forest game recently) and its the best way to drive as much cash for the club out of our lucky draw.
