JackFrost Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22043824 I wonder if KD got a bonus this week
Bananaman Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 read: "Southampton club captain, Kelvin Davis..." - realised what a piece of ****, uninformed article it would be, closed it.
Window Cleaner Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 I see Zeus 88 knows what he's talking about then. When will people admit that the nucleus of our succesful side was here before Adkins and is still here and playing well in the PL after he's gone.

Bananaman Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 also, and i'm hypothesising here, KD doesn't mention at any point that the club were right to sack Adkins etc.. rather he is simply praising the impact of a new manager.. shock!!
Saint Garrett Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 read: "Southampton club captain, Kelvin Davis..." - realised what a piece of ****, uninformed article it would be, closed it. He is the club captain !?

student Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 I think he's more saying they chose the right man to replace him than they were right to replace him. Media love to spin it though
Matthew Le God Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 read: "Southampton club captain, Kelvin Davis..." - realised what a piece of ****, uninformed article it would be, closed it. Kelvin Davis is the club captain, Adam Lallana is the team captain. As for the article it is using this interview recored yesterday... http://www.player.saintsfc.co.uk/latest-news/article/3133834/date/20130405160000/page/0/name/Kelvin:-Pochettino-Brings-Something-Extra
Toadhall Saint Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 Bit of a sensationalist headline TBH. its kind of inferred but not said.

trousers Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 also, and i'm hypothesising here, KD doesn't mention at any point that the club were right to sack Adkins etc.. rather he is simply praising the impact of a new manager.. shock!! His exact words: "The manner in which the new manager's come in and the way that the club lifted to a new level certainly shows it's a decision [to sack Adkins and replace him with Pochettino] that's been proved right"
Bearsy Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 Triple checked. didn't check "recored" tho did ya? Edit: i withdraw comment! If i start mugging off peoples spellings this won't end well for me!
Crazy Diamond Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 The headline isn't exactly what he said though, bordering on sensationalist.
Horley CTFC Saint Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 Bad timing...Beeb obviously trying to get Lawro's predictions back on track
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 http://audioboo.fm/boos/1310823 "it was a decision that was proved right" bout as close as it gets.
Webby Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 The BBC hate us. End of. All stories turned to suit their agenda.
Saint Martini Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 The BBC hate us. End of. All stories turned to suit their agenda. And this agenda would be?The headline is a bit sensationalist but the article itself is nothing special.
dinger Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 The BBC hate us. End of. All stories turned to suit their agenda. All stories in pretty much any news outlet are turned to suit the agenda of maximising consumption of that news outlet. So this is sensationalist, because very few outside of the hardcore Saints fans would read a story about 'Keeper says things generally going quite well'. When we beat Chelsea, all the reports are about Chelsea playing badly because there are more potential readers who are Chelsea fans (or care about the battle at the top). It's not anything to do with hatred or anti-anything.
Graffito Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 http://audioboo.fm/boos/1310823 "it was a decision that was proved right" bout as close as it gets. KD might have played those questions with a straight bat. If anything he's sucking up to Cortese whose decision it was that was "proved right".
Crab Lungs Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 He's Cortese's man now. Mind, body and soul. This.
musesaint Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 I loved Nigel - but of course Cortese was right In a few years, when we are hopefully a regular top 10 Premier League Club at the very least, all the angst of the last few months will be forgotten and the bed wetters will be saying what an inspired choice MP was Can anyone on here seriously point to a major decision Cortese has got wrong so far? Really?
Tom8558 Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 Cortese is single minded and has bottle. He is also completely lacking in sentiment. Replacing NA with MP could have gone horribly wrong. Top bloke that he is, NA had taken us as far as he could. It was a brutal decision, but looks to me like the right one, although I didn't think so at the time. MP will make us a top 10 side. Not sure that NA could have done that. I hope that it works out for NA at Reading (after tomorrow). He deserves another go.
Willo Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 One thing i find odd is that most fans/pundits don't have an issue with players being replaced with better players. e.g. Hammond and Sharp - decent players who always showed full effort to help us get to the premier league. In the summer they are replaced with better players and are loaned back out. This is seen as essential progress by most people. So why is that not also true of managers? Manager A gets the club to the premier league. Manager B is (perceived to be better) so is brought in to replace him. If the game is about "deserving a chance", should we not also give all our League 1 players the chance to play in the Championship, and all the Championship players the chance to play in the premier league? Most clubs wait until crisis point before replacing the manager. NC has done the almost unheard of thing - to replace the manager BEFORE the situation reached crisis point. Because, i presume, he thinks MP is better. Oh, and for the record, i will always appreciate what Nigel did for our club. Very, very few people could have achieved back-to-back promotions (even with our squad/resources), so he'll always be a legend to me
ART Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 Disgusted that such sucking up to Cortese for a new deal gets printed today of all days. Pochettino is made of the same crap as was Redknapp and Hoodle. He's using Saints as a stepping stone and will leave us when he gets another offer.....and, when he goes he'll leave us in a right s h * te, taking his mercenaries with him. Atkins had the Saints interests in is heart and would have got there fairly and surely.

Is that the same mercenary Pochettino who hung on at Espanyol, with no money, in the face of better offers, for years? They're all doing a job to get paid; Adkins, Pochettino, all of them. You can't tell me Adkins wasn't at some level using Saints as a stepping stone, same as he was Scunny, and it worked for him; his prospects and wealth are vastly improved, and well done to him, he deserves it.

Disgusting!
Leicestersaint Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 I am pretty appalled at KD's comments - it sounds like some real brown nosing. Shame on you Kelvin Davis.

CFSFC Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 This! What a surprise that the guy who lost his spot in the team under Adkins now sucks up to the new boss. Disgusting! Hardly been a regular under poch either. Cortese is always right when will you all learn.
TopGun Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 As time has passed I am reasonably happy with Cortese's decision to replace Nigel. There is no doubt that Nigel was great for us with successive promotions but MoPo has instilled fresh vigour in the same set of players.

manji Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 This. Of all the people on here Id Never have expected you to turn into an Um Pahars-lite.
georgeweahscousin Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 I have heard a few players weren't as happy as we might have thought under Adkins. I don't think Davis' comments are that appalling, perhaps a little unnecessary, but he may have been one of the unhappy ones. Wasn't the GK coach under Adkins useless?
OldNick Posted 6 April, 2013 Posted 6 April, 2013 I am pretty appalled at KD's comments - it sounds like some real brown nosing. Shame on you Kelvin Davis. He is pointing to the truth though, we have performed better recently and players like Morgan and Jay have become better. It is also noticeable that he says he rather than Nigel etc
