Lawro's at it again!

He predicts us to lose for the 15th time IN A ROW.

I know, ANOTHER Lawro thread - but I can't help but wonder if he even realises he's predicted 15 straight losses....

Lawro's Prediction: Reading 2-1 Southampton

This is a huge game for Reading boss Nigel Adkins, and not just because it is against the team that sacked him in January.

Adkins steered Saints to back-to-back promotions and into the top flight.

It is almost a last throw of the dice for the Royals, who are bottom of the table and seven points from safety with seven games to go.

There will be added spice and extra feeling because Adkins is now in charge but I don't think that will affect his players much because he has only been there a couple of weeks.

I would still expect plenty of passion from Reading, though, because of their situation. That might carry them to the three points, although they remain in deep trouble.

Southampton will be looking over their shoulders at the teams below them but the great thing for them is that a lot of the teams at the bottom of the table - including Reading - don't look like they are going to win enough games to catch them.

Saints got a big win against Chelsea last week and they now have a few teams - and a few points - between them and the bottom three. They are strong going forward which is why I always fancied they would be OK.

Well, let's keep proving him wrong. Perhaps the Beeb will look back on his performance in the prediction league at the end of the season and decide someone else would be better at doing it. His positioning of QPR and Swansea is laughable.

How does that work then? If you lose 15 on the bounce then surely you would not be okay. Clinical Moron!

I don't so much care what he predicts for us, more that he's paid to come up with generally ill informed garbage. Better pundits have emerged in the ridiculous time he's been appearing for the BBC.

This isn't a completely stupid prediction, Reading might beat us.

Christ, he really hates us with a passion.

He always reckoned we'd be OK ? According to his running aggregate League table, he reckoned we'd be 18th. He's an utter bastard. He used to tip us for relegation every season last time around.

Lawro really is quite negative when it comes to Saints isn't he?

Surely nothing new get spit on these lawro threads but does make me smile.

More twits getting irate with posts declaring their disinterest though.

Like that he always thought we'd be safe but his predictions indicate that cannot be the case.

Lawro is so out of touch. He obviously doesn't know they have a clueless, grinning bumpkin in charge who is out of his depth in the Premier league and tactically inept. We however, have the new Mourinho and the next great European manager calling the shots. It's going to be easy.

I dont think he hates us, I just think he calls the games as he sees them without much thought for what he predicted lay week

Don't think he even does that. He makes some comments and then completely contradicts his comments with his prediction. Does it time and again. Yet he is seen as some sort of expert pundit. No one really cares but its just amusing to see how bad someone can be and get away with it.

First off, Lawrenson is not a tosser, he's actually a very nice bloke. The way his predictions are done is that a BBC journo will phone him and have a chat with him. He doesn't actually write the column himself, although as it's under his name it obviously goes back to him for checking.

Secondly, the BBC and other media organisations employ people like Lawrenson to voice an opinion and be prepared to stick their necks out. There is nothing worse than a pundit who sits on the fence, like Alan Hansen and. indeed. our old boy Shearer. They say little and add nothing to the debate.

Likewise, Geoff Boycott at the Beeb. Again, you may not agree with his views, but at least he voices an opinion and this is the whole idea.

Any media organisation - but especially the BBC as it is publicly-funded - has to encourage interactivity with its audience. One way of doing that is to use pundits to spark a debate, which Lawro has patently done.

Those who moan about the BBC employing Lawro are missing the point. The fact that people are discussing Lawro's predictions is carrying out the function for which it is intended.

Rather than moan at Lawro, you should at least give him credit for being prepared to stick his neck out. It's no coincidence that he does the predictions.

Hansen didn't want to touch them with a barge pole as he knew doing the predictions could ***** the bubble of his highly self-regarded reputation.

Lawro is not so precious. He accepts that part of his role is to be shot at and that is partly what he is paid for.

And he doesn't have an axe to grind when it comes to Saints.

It's not so much, that he predicts us to loose. It's the fact that he's now done it 15 times in a row, that makes me want to go ballistic.....

But then again... It's only Lawro, and who really cares about him? We're getting better and better with each game under Pochettino, we're coming off back to back wins against Liverpool and Chelsea and we're 12th at the moment. As long as the squad is focused and concentrating on Reading, then I really can't be bothered about a pundit.
