From their hob nob knob muppet thread:

"Saints fans mocking us for having 40 odd tickets left to sell. Those seats are £42 and £47 for adults, which is ludicrous at best for this fixture. We've also averaged 97% for home attendance this season, which is better than Southampton"

Yeah, well done all the plastics, 97% of 22k is wonderful.

BTW on the viagogo site alone there are 130 tickets left, starting at £35

Way too generous to plastics

And they're saying £42 is ridiculous....It is but it's what we all paid! Sure there will be plenty of Saints in the home ends. Really thought that they would have sold out so far, only need to sell 22,000 tickets...!

If anyone hasn't got a ticket, just buy one in the home end. Celebrate any of our goals as much as you want too, they won't really care. Nothing club.

I see the thieving bastards over at not606 have robbed me Nige vs Poch graphic!

They're even stealing my bandwidth, FFS :D

\Those not606ers are getting too big for their boots.

It's alright. 'Cos they're nicking my bandwidth, I replaced the image :D

It's a game we can win. If we play like like we did against Chelsea in the first half, then they have no chance. No disrespect to them, but they just don't have the quality.

If you're having to play Legierwood and Harte in your starting 11 in the PL, then you're clearly in the wrong league.

Didn't MP go on a crazy winning streak with Espanyol once he got to grips with them after taking over? I wonder if this could be the start of one for us?

I bloody hope so, anyway...

It was more of an unbeaten run I think. Espanyol were in relegation trouble most of the season, but at the end they finished comfortably in 10th, he took them well clear of it when most expected them to go down at some stages.

He then took them on the following season, but financial purse strings forced him to sell the majority of his big name players and replace them with players from the acedmy. It's then when they started to struggle again.

this. although some caution should be exercised as I recall it kicking off in the home end at Elm Park in the FA Cup game of 97 when they beat us 3-1 on a frozen pitch so with the cold weather forecast I don't want history to repeat itself .

a mate of mine who goes to Reading says they look completely deflated and have lost the fight that got them results earlier in the season so an early goal for us is what we need. will be good to see Reading go down and resume their rivalry with Swindon and we can once again lay claim to being the only top flight side in the south today / meridian tv region !

Adkins addresses Royals supporters

Speaking to the press, Royals boss Nigel Adkins gave a message to the supporters as he prepares for his first home game this coming Saturday. Nigel has enjoyed great relations with supporters wherever he has been in charge, and is looking forward to the same again at Madejski Stadium.

"We are Reading Football Club, the football club is about the supporters. We all share that same common goal. We want to win games before the end of the season, we want to be in the Barclays Premier League and we want to be excited about coming to the Madejski Stadium and travelling away. It’s hard earned cash people have to go and fork out to see their team. They want to see a team that’s committed, they want to see a team that ideally plays attacking football to score goals. This League is the highest pinnacle of English football. It’s exciting for the supporters, they know they’ve got a massive role to play.

I noticed in the canteen at Hogwood there’s a lot of history and quotes around the room, which is great. On one of the posters, they show that the Reading supporters were the first supporters to get the number 13 shirt - and officially be named the 13th man. That’s how much of a role they’ve got to play, it’s a massive role. We’ve all got to be together, they’ve got to drive the players on.

I want the players to pass the ball and to do that there needs to be no reprisals if they give the ball away, because it is a decision making process to pass it and sometimes the ball will go astray. But I want them to pass the football so they’ve got to know they can do that with the supporters being appreciative of the way they want to go and play and being supportive of them.

I know we’ll get that because everyone – if you’re a Reading supporter, you just want Reading Football club to do well."

I loved Nigels enthusiasm but it really is the same for every club...

Seems like they are fearing a loss to me...

If we can go 1 up in the first 10 minutes or so they will cave in because they'll know that they're relegated (if they don't already). The longer it goes at 0-0 the more difficult it will become for us.

thing is they'll have to go for this as a draw isn't good enough for them at this stage, so i can see it being really open and hopefully we can take advantage of their f*cking awful defense, 1-4 for me

My preview of the game, looking at comparisons between Adkins and Pochettino http://www.thesaintshub.com/readingpreview.html
I agree that we are playing better football under MP than NA, but there isn't much in it. What about our Arsenal at home or Man U at home performances? A bit of luck and we'd have beaten Arsenal, a bit of Prem League experience and savvy and we'd have probably beaten Untied. We drew away at Chelsea, having been 2-0 down at half time. Who knows how much we'd have kicked on from there under NA. If you remember Gary Neville's analysis after our West Brom away game, he blamed it on individual errors, rather than the way the team had been set-up.

Thoroughly good read.......Thank you Papa Shango

Like many fans..Thank you Nigel and good luck for the future. Not v Saints:D

I am still of the mind......Alan Pardew deseves a great deal of praise for the start/foundation to our rise back up the leagues.

Obviously without our new owner RIP ML and the very astute NC ...where would we be.

Now with MP running the show the future certainly looks bright........:)

Hope all goes well versus Reading and we come away with 3 points after a good win..:)

One of those games whereby if we play well then we should win bar giving away silly set piece or a Jos OG.

Just hope the team have not only learned from the positives of late but also from our mistakes including that dreadful performance v QPR.

No better time to put to bed that theory that we only raise our game for the big clubs.

Such a fine line in that if we win we are almost safe but if we lose the team will have to overcome the mental scar of losing to the worst team in the league.

To be perfectly honest, I prefer the post-Adkins MNF analysis, where Neville explains how we're ripping teams apart.

Yes, but "the same" is what Reading wanted. It would be unfair to expect a manager to reinvent himself everytime he moves club - he is who he is :)

We underperformed at their place last season, though getting a draw in the circumstances felt very good. We have progressed substantially since then, they have not. There is the risk of the "new manager first game at home" impact, but its heavily diluted by their near-certain relegation. You get the sense with two days to go that the supporters, at least, have properly given up. Frankly, they had empty seats 4 weeks ago at the "must win" game against Villa

We need to start at our normal pace and go for the throat. Cut out silly errors and we should be ok

won't be too upset with a draw either.

I'd definitely take a draw. Anything away from home is a bonus for me. Need to win the home games.

If you can't look for an away win against the worst team in the league, who can you look for one against? It isn't home games we need to win as that is just settling for survival, Saints should be looking for a mid table finish this season and beating Reading is a key part to achieving that. A draw on Saturday would be very disappointing as we should be capable of easily beating them. A draw would be because Saints didn't play very well against a poor team.

They didn't say we shouldn't "look" for a win on Saturday did they? They just said a draw wouldn't be the end of the world which is true. Not great, but ok. Win home games and draw away as a general rule of thumb aint too bad. A draw on Saturday wouldn't be "very disappointing" would it?

You don't know that. They could play out of their skin and get a draw.

I'm certainly looking for them to raise their game because of the 'rivalry' they suddenly think they've got with us and the Adkins factor.

Didn't really seem to be listening to him, did they?

My thought too, looked like a few have already tuned him out (mind you, just like people their age, they probably don't pay attention to anyone)...

Of course this is a game for us to win.

As MP always says, that should always be our mindset.

If they wanna try to outplay us passing, that will only benefit us I think.

Their major threat for us to defend will be set pieces, really need to have our focus 100% defensively there.
