ToreSF Posted 31 March, 2013 Share Posted 31 March, 2013 Totally understandable that they got rid of O'Neil. One of the most overrated managers in the game, IMO. Di Canio would (literally) kick some butts if he came in, and I think he is mental enough to actually save them.

If you're going to make a managerial change this late then you have to bring in someone capable of totally changing things and turning things around. Di Canio is a massive wild card, but he's certainly a character and won't stand for any sh*t. Potentially a good appointment, they were nose diving with O'Neill and something needed to change. Kingsbridge Saint Posted 31 March, 2013 Share Posted 31 March, 2013 5 across the midfield at home. Pointless possession based football with no cutting edge. Drab and dreary Sunderland. O Neill got what his tactics deserved.

If the players don't measure up, he'll have them executed - or sent to a 'special' training camp.

Born In The 80s Posted 31 March, 2013 Share Posted 31 March, 2013 Totally understandable that they got rid of O'Neil. One of the most overrated managers in the game, IMO. Di Canio would (literally) kick some butts if he came in, and I think he is mental enough to actually save them. Glad i'm not the only one with this point of view. O'Neil is a nice guy and speaks honestly and sincerely, but as a manager he really isn't as good as the media like to make out. He likes to spend an awful lot of money on very average footballers and he generally plays dull, uninspiring football. Sunderland are in total freefall, and O'Neil was taking them down. The timing isn't great, but a change needed to be made. Relegation for a club like Sunderland, whose wage bill must be through the roof, would be a complete disaster. No doubt it's a brave move by the chairman, but it's one he really needed to make.
Crazy Diamond Posted 31 March, 2013 Share Posted 31 March, 2013 Here comes Di canio... Will make for some interesting viewing! If they go down he'll probably petrol bomb Adam Johnson's house, he is f*cking mad.
