Saintru Posted 31 March, 2013 Posted 31 March, 2013 Watching soccer saturday and Nicholas was full of praise for the team. He particlularly picked out: Clyne, said it was the best game he has seen him play Yoshida, read the game well The defence - apart from the corner JRod - Where did he find his pace? Nicholas said when he was at Burnley I thought he was ok, but he is a different player Lambert - He mentioned that he gave the centre backs a torrid time with his movement. Asked by Geoff S who would you have Torres or Lambert? Answer Lambert 100% Cork - Very solid The forwards - Chelsea struggled to cope with their movement and threat they carried It was great that a pundit focussed on how well we played rather just talk about the top 4 team having a bad day, or making too many changes etc.

If we were arsenal they'd be crooning over our performances

Thought Charlie's comments were spot on TBH.
dan17 Posted 31 March, 2013 Posted 31 March, 2013 If we were arsenal they'd be crooning over our performances Said exactly this to the mrs yesterday (she is a Chelsea fan lol). What's more a team like Arsenal would be absolutely over the moon at beating City, Liverpool and Chelsea at home and would be giving it large.

saint si Posted 31 March, 2013 Posted 31 March, 2013 http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/tv-shows/soccer-saturday/8608170/saints-shock-chelsea Stadium of Light? That is a shock!
Lets B Avenue Posted 31 March, 2013 Posted 31 March, 2013 Stadium of Light? That is a shock! Presumably Cortese sacked O'Neill then.
mcjwills Posted 31 March, 2013 Posted 31 March, 2013 Liked Charlie's closing remark "They dont look anywhere near relegation this Southampton side"
ART Posted 31 March, 2013 Posted 31 March, 2013 Graeme Le Saux did the commentary on BBC World Services cover of the game. He was full of praise for Saints and the class of our players. Finally people are beginning to really take notice of us for the first time since we got relegated in 2005.

Finally people are beginning to really take notice of us for the first time since we got relegated in 2005. Couldn't give a sh*t what Le Saux says, like Redknapp Junior, he will always be tainted with the stigma of being in our team relegated with 'Arry, I'm afraid.

He was on the tail end of his career, but turned in some excellent performances - between injuries.
whelk Posted 1 April, 2013 Posted 1 April, 2013 I think we have had plenty of.praise from most of pundits. People get wound up by Merson but he was glowing http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/tv-shows/soccer-saturday/8571167/southampton-3-1-liverpool-mers Patrick Barclay, Barry Glendenning are all giving us loads of love but doesn't seem enough for some. Apart from Lawro but even think he will predict a point Saturday
Bucks Saint Posted 1 April, 2013 Posted 1 April, 2013 http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/tv-shows/soccer-saturday/8608170/saints-shock-chelsea Love it, thanks

Very harsh - he always looked like he was giving 100%, unlike 'arry and most of his signings.
red&white56 Posted 1 April, 2013 Posted 1 April, 2013 I don't normally watch Sky but thought both the Chelsea and Liverpool match reviews were excellent, plenty of praise for Saints and how we played and less of the "bad day in the office" excuses than on the BBC
dronskisaint Posted 1 April, 2013 Posted 1 April, 2013 Very harsh - he always looked like he was giving 100%, unlike 'arry and most of his signings. +1 Le Saux did care...unlike fat Fank's uncle!
david in sweden Posted 1 April, 2013 Posted 1 April, 2013 never my favourite "expert commentator ...." but at last Charlie Nicholas has admitted that we can play a bit .....
