scotty Posted 31 March, 2013 Posted 31 March, 2013 Sod that. I want them, their ridiculous wage bill and their saggy faced manager down. Not just down, adrift and hopeless playing no better than when Hughes was sacked. I'd take a few more points from Fulham and Wigan for that. I think they are both staying up anyway. +1, well said. The icing on the cake would be if that shifty chancer found that qpr was his final job.
Badger Posted 31 March, 2013 Posted 31 March, 2013 Jay rod man of the match without doubt tireless running and closing down and a great goal! Credit to rickie and even kelvin! Superb. How do I download this ? Have tried but only saves first btwo seconds. Not what I wanted to refer to. Will try again.

angelman Posted 31 March, 2013 Posted 31 March, 2013 Using this site: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/southampton-fc/startseite/verein_180.html it is interesting to see the cost of the two squads. The papers go on about Benitez making 7 changes but given the value, and by that supposedly, quality (hmmm - Torres!!) then really, should it really make a difference? The transfer fees paid (which I know is not a real indicator of things)...... Chelsea - starting line up = £161.36m, subs used = £54.56m, total = £215.92m Saints - starting line up = £17.64m, subs used = £2.75m, total = £20.39m
Minsk Posted 1 April, 2013 Posted 1 April, 2013 For anybody saying about Chelsea playing a weakened team: of the 14 used against us 10 played a part in beating ManUre today, with another 3 being unused subs. Only Marin didn't appear in their squad today.
SaintRobbie Posted 1 April, 2013 Posted 1 April, 2013 Brilliant! I knew we'd win though. We've got the best midfield in the Premier League IMHO, and that means if you're a decent side that plays through the middle like Manure, Citeh, Chelski or Liverpool you dont stand a chance against Southampton! Stats have us all over Chelski despite the odd scarey moment. We dominated AGAIN. About time the press started to wake up and give the lads credit instead of saying the opposition had an off day. Frankly we'd have beaten a fully manned Chelski team. Reading on the other hand.... will hoof it up past the midfield and break and put the back four under pressure. Our Centre Backs will need to be on their game. AND we'll need to be ruthless at the end of the game. They have the ability to strike late and ruin our day. Adkins will also know our weakness. I was always more concerned about Reading than Chelski. I was right. No complacency MP - you should want this Reading game more than any other with Adkins in the other chair. And the players? BE RUTHLESS. Out pass, out play and out muscle the Reading forwards... we win and 37 points says we're safe and staying in the Premier League. Reading.... no mercy.
grantsaint Posted 2 April, 2013 Posted 2 April, 2013 Enjoyed my 4th Saints game of the season after originally booking flights for the Sunday and having to pay a lot of money to get flights changed and sort a hotel!! Great display on Saturday, thought Maya, Cork and J-Rod were outstanding and we didn't really look like we missed Lallana or Gaston. It seems as if we have this idea that we should always play Gaston due to the price we paid for him. I certainly didn't feel that he would have made any more impact than the staring 11 did on Saturday. On a side note- when did the king Alfred shut??
pingwing Posted 2 April, 2013 Posted 2 April, 2013 King Alf shut 3-4 weeks ago, there was a thread on here and everything! (Think it was after city at home) Not a big loss other than easy of access to the ground as all of their drinks were badly watered down/tasted terrible (like most pubs in Southampton)

Same could be said of Liverpool and Man City.

Graffito Posted 2 April, 2013 Posted 2 April, 2013 the trouncing they gave us in the cup perhaps gave them a false sense of security. Yes. Their second half performance was the best I've seen at St Mary's for some season's but all the more reason to select for last Saturday as close as possible to their second half cup selection, especially as we got a point at Stamford Bridge.
pangy Posted 3 April, 2013 Posted 3 April, 2013 Not sure if this has been posted but this made my day when I saw it
S-Clarke Posted 3 April, 2013 Posted 3 April, 2013 Not sure if this has been posted but this made my day when I saw it Should be the trademark image for John Terry of 2012-2013. Sums it all up. Lost his way completely.
