whilst we're only 4 points above the drop zone but Stoke, Norwich, Newcastle and Sunderland are well and truly in the scrap now.

We will be fine.

This. I'm only a little worried now.

Who said we can't make 10th place! Game on onwards and upwards forget Wigan nobodies gone catch us looking up now not down 2 points off tenth!

Agreed. No need to worry about other results just keep playing like that and winning. Another superb display, although Chelsea came into it more in the 2nd half there was only one moment where they really troubled us, and Davis did brilliantly (I'm not his biggest fan and was really worried when he came on but fair play he did just fine). C'mon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I make it 6 winnable games for you from the final 7, if you dont pick up the 4-6 points you'll need from that you won't have deserved to have stayed up. But I'm very confident you'll stay up with ease in the end, probably 5-7 points clear

I hope people remember this game when it comes time to knock him again. ;)

Was a very important save, who would think we would beat Chelsea with Davis and Fox on the pitch ;-)

Why don't you join us? I started supporting Saints when I was a student at Southampton.

So a bit of who did you vote for and why?

For me Clyne today. Stopped pretty much everything on his side and very involved going forward.

We have some crazy good young fullbacks.....

6 points that we were not expected to take. Needed as well, 28 points and I'd be ****ting it.

This is the most important thing above all else for me. This is 6-points that we weren't expected to win, which will be the difference come the end of the season. In fact, throw in Man City and it's even better.

Yoshida for me. Had a massive game in centre defence - smothered most Chelsea attacking moves

I make that the current Premier League Champions, the current League Cup holders, the current FA Cup Holders, and the current Champions League holders (as well as the beaten FA Cup Finalists) we've put away at St Mary's this season.

St Mary's, Graveyard of Champions.

Brilliant perfomance, two absolutely magical goals.

Felt like we were struggling and tired the last 20, but we held out, and retook control for the last 5, when it looked like Chelsea had run out of ideas.

J-Rod MotM for me.

JPTCount spotted that we'd beaten the League Cup Winners as well :)

I liked the moment near the end when Luke pulled JWP away from a confrontation to calm him down. We absolutely MUST keep him at SMS for the next few seasons.

He would have been my 2nd choice.....(damn we need to be able to pick 3 players to get a fair valuation in these polls)

Potentially the future England pairing....

From a Chelsea forum....."Very, very poor from everybody and we lose quite deservedly. It says a lot about our squad that we can't get a draw from Southampton."

Um, yes you can mate, you got a draw from us at HOME! :D

Although good to see JWP isn't afraid of mixing it up with the footballing glitterati

Huge, important win. Ecstatic.

I still think anyone from 10th down could still go down. A high points total needed, defitinitely 40 points or more, to avoid relegation IMO.

Steve Claridge on Final Score: "There's no way Southampton are going down. Under this new fella they are a different proposition"

I like Claridge - Fair and honest as a pundit (if not as a player ;0) )

Great performance, I honestly think we have a solid foundation to build on for next season and establish ourselves as a top half Prem side !

Was a hard choice between Lambert, Yoshida, Clyne, Jrod and Shaw. Went for Lambert because of the goal and for being amazing. Its going to be tough trying to keep hold of Clyne over the summer.

Not really

Club: "Hi, we'd like to buy Nat Clyne"

Cortese Henchman "Do you want to sleep with the fishes"?

Club "Err no, we'll leave that to the Pompey lot"

Actually I'd add Cork to that list also. Thought he did well with a point to prove against his old club, did a lot of the hard work deep midfield.

So sad that I was unable to get there today. Had to give my ticket to a mate. By the way, how did John Terry - Captain, Leader, Legend - get on against our front men?
