Ohio Saint Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 whilst we're only 4 points above the drop zone but Stoke, Norwich, Newcastle and Sunderland are well and truly in the scrap now. We will be fine. This. I'm only a little worried now.
stknowle Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 Who said we can't make 10th place! Game on onwards and upwards forget Wigan nobodies gone catch us looking up now not down 2 points off tenth! Agreed. No need to worry about other results just keep playing like that and winning. Another superb display, although Chelsea came into it more in the 2nd half there was only one moment where they really troubled us, and Davis did brilliantly (I'm not his biggest fan and was really worried when he came on but fair play he did just fine). C'mon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
student Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 I make it 6 winnable games for you from the final 7, if you dont pick up the 4-6 points you'll need from that you won't have deserved to have stayed up. But I'm very confident you'll stay up with ease in the end, probably 5-7 points clear
pangy Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 Does it come of Torres? No,it does look like that but straight in
Ohio Saint Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 Special mention to Kelvin, there when it mattered coming off the bench... I hope people remember this game when it comes time to knock him again.
pangy Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 I hope people remember this game when it comes time to knock him again. Was a very important save, who would think we would beat Chelsea with Davis and Fox on the pitch ;-)
scotty Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 if Stoke were to take a hammering tomorrow we could even move up again. Good point. I was only looking below us!!
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 I hope people remember this game when it comes time to knock him again. Really good stop. Wasn't too busy but did what was needed of him. Super-kelv!
jampot Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 Still wonder about the Boruc "injury." Some sort of strain maybe as his kicking was off?
trousers Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 Steve Claridge on Final Score: "There's no way Southampton are going down. Under this new fella they are a different proposition"
Olallana Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 After looking at some Chelsea fan forum I can confirm that they played their worst game this year, and all the blame is on Benitez....
niceandfriendly Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 Very happy here in wet and stormy South East Asia. Rodriguez is going to be some player!
redder freak Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 I make it 6 winnable games for you from the final 7, if you dont pick up the 4-6 points you'll need from that you won't have deserved to have stayed up. But I'm very confident you'll stay up with ease in the end, probably 5-7 points clear Why don't you join us? I started supporting Saints when I was a student at Southampton.
Olallana Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 So a bit of who did you vote for and why? For me Clyne today. Stopped pretty much everything on his side and very involved going forward. We have some crazy good young fullbacks.....
thornhill_saints Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 Charlie, on Sky said we where fantastic, brilliant team to watch... deserved the win..
thornhill_saints Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 And I agree as I was there in the Northam :-) loving it
RobM Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 6 points that we were not expected to take. Needed as well, 28 points and I'd be ****ting it. This is the most important thing above all else for me. This is 6-points that we weren't expected to win, which will be the difference come the end of the season. In fact, throw in Man City and it's even better.
trousers Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 So a bit of who did you vote for and why? For me Clyne today. Stopped pretty much everything on his side and very involved going forward. We have some crazy good young fullbacks..... Yoshida for me. Had a massive game in centre defence - smothered most Chelsea attacking moves
Jimmy_D Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 (edited) I make that the current Premier League Champions, the current League Cup holders, the current FA Cup Holders, and the current Champions League holders (as well as the beaten FA Cup Finalists) we've put away at St Mary's this season. St Mary's, Graveyard of Champions. Brilliant perfomance, two absolutely magical goals. Felt like we were struggling and tired the last 20, but we held out, and retook control for the last 5, when it looked like Chelsea had run out of ideas. J-Rod MotM for me. Edited 30 March, 2013 by Jimmy_D JPTCount spotted that we'd beaten the League Cup Winners as well :)
badgerx16 Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 We have some crazy good young fullbacks..... I liked the moment near the end when Luke pulled JWP away from a confrontation to calm him down. We absolutely MUST keep him at SMS for the next few seasons.

Olallana Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 Yoshida for me. Had a massive game in centre defence - smothered most Chelsea attacking moves He would have been my 2nd choice.....(damn we need to be able to pick 3 players to get a fair valuation in these polls)

Ohio Saint Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 From a Chelsea forum....."Very, very poor from everybody and we lose quite deservedly. It says a lot about our squad that we can't get a draw from Southampton." Um, yes you can mate, you got a draw from us at HOME!
trousers Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 I liked the moment near the end when Luke pulled JWP away from a confrontation to calm him down. We absolutely MUST keep him at SMS for the next few seasons. Although good to see JWP isn't afraid of mixing it up with the footballing glitterati
SNSUN Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 Huge, important win. Ecstatic. I still think anyone from 10th down could still go down. A high points total needed, defitinitely 40 points or more, to avoid relegation IMO.
trousers Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 Charlie Nicholas: "Make no mistake, when it works this Southampton side is a class act"
Jimmy_D Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 didnt liverpool win the league cup...? Ooh! Good catch!
Foxstone Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 Steve Claridge on Final Score: "There's no way Southampton are going down. Under this new fella they are a different proposition" I like Claridge - Fair and honest as a pundit (if not as a player ;0) ) Great performance, I honestly think we have a solid foundation to build on for next season and establish ourselves as a top half Prem side !
badgerx16 Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 if Stoke were to take a hammering tomorrow we could even move up again. Any Everton win (this evening ) moves us up to 12th.
Dalek2003 Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 I am going on a run of bad predictions. Wrong again today !
Dr. Kucho Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 So a bit of who did you vote for and why? For me Clyne today. Stopped pretty much everything on his side and very involved going forward. We have some crazy good young fullbacks..... Was a hard choice between Lambert, Yoshida, Clyne, Jrod and Shaw. Went for Lambert because of the goal and for being amazing. Its going to be tough trying to keep hold of Clyne over the summer.
trousers Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 Benitez couldn't bring himself to praise Saints in his post match interview
St Chalet Posted 30 March, 2013 Author Posted 30 March, 2013 Its going to be tough trying to keep hold of Clyne over the summer. Not really Club: "Hi, we'd like to buy Nat Clyne" Cortese Henchman "Do you want to sleep with the fishes"? Club "Err no, we'll leave that to the Pompey lot"
Dalek2003 Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 Does anyone why Boruc was substituted at HT ? Credit to KD, did really well in the 2nd half !
trousers Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 Garth Crooks saying Chelsea didn't prepare themselves for how good a side they were playing. Top man
St Chalet Posted 30 March, 2013 Author Posted 30 March, 2013 Benitez couldn't bring himself to praise Saints in his post match interview He has no class, him and Chelsea deserve eachother.

Bobbyboy Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 Was a hard choice between Lambert, Yoshida, Clyne, Jrod and Shaw. Went for Lambert because of the goal and for being amazing. Its going to be tough trying to keep hold of Clyne over the summer. Actually I'd add Cork to that list also. Thought he did well with a point to prove against his old club, did a lot of the hard work deep midfield.
Saint Garrett Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 I am going on a run of bad predictions. Wrong again today ! Shock. And here I was thinking we were going for a yoyo strategy...!
Saint Without a Halo Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 if Stoke were to take a hammering tomorrow we could even move up again. Stoke playing now at Everton 1-0 for Everton moves us up to 12th!
Dr. Kucho Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 Garth Crooks saying Chelsea didn't prepare themselves for how good a side they were playing. Top man Has Lawro commented on our win?
Dalek2003 Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 You're forgiven Superstition requires me to carry on with my grim forecasts !
Viking Warrior Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 Radio 5 live taters said Davis was the best player on the pitch amd ran the show
trousers Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 Has Lawro commented on our win? He's not on Final Score. Assume he'll be on MotD later?
Hedgehog Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 http://www.caughtoffside.com/2013/03/30/video-southampton-2-1-chelsea-premier-league-highlights/ Goals are on here unless they have been taken down
Piran Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 So sad that I was unable to get there today. Had to give my ticket to a mate. By the way, how did John Terry - Captain, Leader, Legend - get on against our front men?
Gorgiesaint Posted 30 March, 2013 Posted 30 March, 2013 and Everton go 1-0 up on Stoke... up to 12th we go (for now)
