david in sweden Posted 29 March, 2013 Share Posted 29 March, 2013 ...a rather unusual item is the article in the Daily Star where MP (apparantly) praises the talents of Fernando Torres and suggests that the move to Chelsea has ruined his career... OK it maybe a bit of psychological PR, but there a deep vein of admiration running through his comments about the expensive Chelsea " drop out." Just how long Chelsea will continue to subsidize Torres' poor performances is uncertain, but if they decide to cut their losses and sell him off.....where might he go then ? Could it be that there is more than a passing interest in Torres at SMS ?... and that one day he might perhaps move to ........(NO! NO! I'm not going to say it )

Saint Without a Halo Posted 29 March, 2013 Share Posted 29 March, 2013 This has probably been fabricated from his pre match conference when asked about Torres lack of form at Chelsea he said something along the lines of Torres seemed happy at Liverpool and played well there maybe the atmosphere at Chelsea was different! The Kraken Posted 29 March, 2013 Share Posted 29 March, 2013 And as the article says, having played against him. Wow. Its almost as if a newspaper article has been created following a pre-game press conference.

Noodles34 Posted 29 March, 2013 Share Posted 29 March, 2013 even though Torres is clearly pants now, it makes me laugh when the op suggests he might come here! What is it with the people on here, did they not learn from the Michael Owen saga? We are still a small time club that no WC player is going to come to, end of. KelvinsRightGlove Posted 29 March, 2013 Share Posted 29 March, 2013 I almost feel sorry for Torres. I really liked him, for a while I really thought him and Drogba were the best two strikers in the world. He was simply unplayable. Something happened that just seemed to change him, it's almost like in Space Jam when those alien things stole all the basketball players ability (yes, clearly it was injury). It's a shame to see him struggle, and fair play to the bloke, he does still try hard, his luck just seems to have completely deserted him. I reckon he will end up in a lesser league on huge money soon, Dubai, Russia, China, States or something like that. Struggle to see many European sides taking him, for what he would cost. However......if you ask the question I'd say the very idea that a player of his status..... would join a club like SFC ...in the bottom 6 ....then the obvious answer - NO ! (not a chance). BUT, strange things happen in the world of football, and my generation recalls a certain European Footballer of the Year... signing for Saints in 1980 .....and the footballing world was shocked. Would a deal like this EVER be considered...not by me, but it might depend ....on how anxious Chelsea are to get a new LB ?.......Who knows ?
