action man Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 i may be wrong but i heard the pub they put us all in last year outside the station has been demolished ,wondered what will now be the "away pub"
Reggie Dunlop Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 When you come out of the station walk down the road and I think it is either the 2nd or 3rd turning on the left walk up that road and there's a pub on the right hand side greyfriars road called the gateway http://www.reading-irish-pub.co.uk/
SuperMikey Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 O'Neills has gone eh? Oh dear. There's a Yates and a few Wetherspoons just around the corner from the station so I don't think it's too much of a big deal. Plenty of pubs in town really.
Saint Garrett Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 Not sure they'll be many open before the game? Isn't it a 12:30 kick off? And ground isn't in town is it?!
Berkshire Saint Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 Not sure they'll be many open before the game? Isn't it a 12:30 kick off? And ground isn't in town is it?! There's a couple of Wetherspoons within a 5/10 minute walk of the station that will probably be open. Ground's about 3 miles outside of town.
Saint Garrett Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 Ah sweet. Only been reading once before and that was about ten years ago.
Hamilton Saint Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 Why would you be reading in a pub? I'd rather be drinking!
SuperMikey Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 Ah sweet. Only been reading once before and that was about ten years ago. That puts you ahead of 99% of Reading fans in that you actually went to Elm Park...or was it when they were at the Mad Stad? Or, thinking about it, maybe it wasn't football related.
aintforever Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 This place is good if you like beer http://www.nagsheadreading.com
Saint137 Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 Reading has loads of great pubs, one of the few good things about the town. Problem is none of them are near the stadium which is a 30 minute walk from town. Other than the Harvesters near the ground there are a couple a short walk the other side of the M4 in Three Mile Cross - The Farriers and The Swan. Might be worth a look if you're driving.
Saint137 Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 Pretty sure that the Three Guineas is still open (that's the one attached to the station). It's a listed building so doubt it's been demolished.

Can't wait for next week.
St Chalet Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 Pretty sure that the Three Guineas is still open (that's the one attached to the station). It's a listed building so doubt it's been demolished. It is still there.
Bucks Saint Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 It is still there. Sadly. Could do with being knocked down. And rebuilt of course

The OB were hot on stopping Saints fans walking into the the town from the Three Guineas but we got lucky.
The Kraken Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 The one by the station was a complete w*nker-magnet. As we got there last season, one young scroat was being thrown out for under-age drinking, and then got arrested after he spat in the face of the bouncer. His pr*ck mates were then giving it the large one from a safe distance. We had a couple of Reading fans with us and managed to talk our way into one of the "home" pubs (which actually had about 25% Saints fans inside anyway).
Shroppie Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 Should have a win win on this. Will have a home ticket (going with Reading season ticket holder friend) but with Saints season ticket too, so hopefully can get in anywhere.
saints_is_the_south Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 Went to The Bugle on Friar Street last season. Decent little boozer, only a few minutes walk from the station.
Joe Kirkup Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 As it is only 10 mins from me I drink in Reading regularly. If you're an ale man then 3Bs in the Town Hall is the place. One of the few places nowdays who know how to keep an ale. They usually have 4 on the go and continually rotate them so you never know what to expect.
