anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 "Redknapp refuses to admit survival is beyond even he, but the eight-point gap between his side and 17th looks all but unassailable, even with N****wo Kanu brought in on a free transfer and £120,000 a week." lol
Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 Jesus, I hope it's a bit more comfortable than that!
Turkish Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 Even on the last day according to them there will still be 4 teams we can catch, a win for us and a win in the Villa or Wigan game and we would over take one of them as well. Still think we'll be mathmatically safe by then, probably by being 1-2 points clear of both Villa and Wigan.
tajjuk Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 Hmmn they give far too much credit to Wigan and Villa to me, can't see Wigan suddenly pick up 13 points from 8 games.
pingwing Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 Well that's nice of them, not quite sure how we start throwing it away come Swansea away to then drop like a stone but hey opinions are like arse holes everyone has one.
SuperMikey Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 Well that's nice of them, not quite sure how we start throwing it away come Swansea away to then drop like a stone but hey opinions are like arse holes everyone has one. Aaaaand breathe...

Well tbf t's pretty hard predicting every game between now and the end of the season! All a bit of fun though!
OttawaSaint Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 Hope! QPR beat Reading to give themselves the slimmest of chances of dodging the drop – while mathematically relegating the Royals and their manager, Michael Appleton. Adkins to get the sack then and Appy gets his 4 team of the season...
Mowgli Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 If they are correct with us rising to 12th after beating West Ham I don't really see us sliding back down after that tbh.
obelisk Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 What with Wigan gaining points with dodgy tackles, handballs and cosy refs, while Saints seem to enjoy throwing away points from winning positions I can actually believe it will be tighter than we hope.
Graffito Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 I did the BBC predictor and had us finishing 10th. Perhaps a bit optimistic but I think we'll finish higher than 442 does. I see that 5 of Stoke's last eight are against sides below them. You can look at this either way. That this gives them an easier run. On the other hand should they lose some of those games they could be dragged right into it. They play Sunderland, Norwich, QPR, Villa as well as Saints. Their other games are against Everton, Manu and Tottenham. Could our final game of the season be a crucial one but not, as 442 see it, for us, but for Stoke? I had them staying up, just, but their recent form is not good.
Pugwash Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 Absolute bowlocks! We don't wear red-and-white shirts.
Window Cleaner Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 (edited) Looks like total bolloaks. I'd wager a lot (well at least 50p) that neither Wigan nor Villa end up with 40 points. Edited 28 March, 2013 by Window Cleaner
pingwing Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 Well tbf t's pretty hard predicting every game between now and the end of the season! All a bit of fun though! Yeah I know really, need to find some not too serious smiles on here (or remember to put the facepalm in more)
Dr Who? Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 Who would stay up IF we only draw on the last day? Same goal difference, and points.
scotty Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 They have us finishing 17th. Is Dalek involved with this lot?
benjii Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 Looks like total bolloaks. I'd wager a lot (well at least 50p) that neither Wigan nor Villa end up with 40 points. Agree entirely and there is hardly any chance they both will IMO. Both of them average 1 point per match so far this season, giving Wigan the benefit of the doubt and assuming they win their game in hand. They also have to play each other which means one of them would need to get 9 or 10 points from 7 games to finish on 40. I still think 35 points and a decent GD may be enough to stay up. 38 should definitely do it. I can't see Reading or QPR getting more than 35 (they may not even get close) and they both have poor goal differences. Wigan's form over the season so far would put them on 35 points come season end with a poor GD. Villa's would put them on 38 points. Sunderland would be heading for 39 on season's form but with key players injured and a hard run-in it is quite reasonable to expect them to finish with less than that. Basically, I reckon two more wins and a couple of draws will be plenty for us. I think we will win four more games and get a draw though so will probably finish well clear of it.

I agree with the first bit, not quite sure why you think we'll win 4 of our last 8 when we've only won 7 all season though.
Window Cleaner Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 The numerous attempts at gags show that it wasn't meant to be a serious article. Right, I only looked at the final table tbh.
max_saints Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 it does look tight at the bottom half this season. if their prediction is anything to go by, the last relegation spot and 12th spot is only a difference of 3 points!
Turkish Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 Interesting it had us in a last day relegation scrap and finishing 17th, yet 2 points off 11th. I think there could be some reality in how tight it is down there. Already if Saints had closed out a couple of games they'd be pretty safe. Still time an fixtures to do that too, would be nice to finish top of the bottom half. The table would look a lot better if we'd managed to hold on away at Wigan.
Window Cleaner Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 The table would look a lot better if we'd managed to hold on away at Wigan. or at home to Swansea and Norwich not to mention Utd.
Window Cleaner Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 Stoke...Arsenal... In fact we're a Champion's League side that can't defend on occasions
yorkiesaint Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 when I did the bbc predictor a few weeks back it came out alarmingly similar to this, and ended in a final day win over stoke to secure survival, although I did predict a draw against liverpool. Get used to it folks! It's going to be tense at the finish.
raynesparksaint Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 The table would look a lot better if we'd managed to hold on away at Wigan. I think all the teams around us are cursing lost points in one game or another. We have dropped more than most, but I've never known it any different as a Saints fan... I only celebrate when we have a three-goal cushion.

We have dropped more than most, but I've never known it any different as a Saints fan... I only celebrate when we have a three-goal cushion. The point being that the Wigan game was the key one as if we'd have held onto our lead which we got 5 minutes from time we'd have been 13th and and 7 points clear of them rather than 16th and 4 points above them, We'd be almost safe.
brmbrm Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 I would take the final table, but NOT the way we get there. Very funny though "...despite a 10-minute cameo from Michael Owen in which he doesn’t touch the ball...."
lordswoodsaints Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 Far too uncomfortable for me,would prefer us to be safer than that before we play stoke.
pap Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 The point being that the Wigan game was the key one as if we'd have held onto our lead which we got 5 minutes from time we'd have been 13th and and 7 points clear of them rather than 16th and 4 points above them, We'd be almost safe. Really did feel like a loss, that one. After so much fkn hard work, too
jasonb Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 Really did feel like a loss, that one. After so much fkn hard work, too Yep. The support and the second half performance was superb... ManU-esque the way you felt we were going to score... Well ManU-esque right up until we shot ourselves in the bloody foot!!
Tamesaint Posted 31 March, 2013 Posted 31 March, 2013 That is us 3 pointsbetter than they predicted.... already.
CB Fry Posted 31 March, 2013 Posted 31 March, 2013 That is us 3 pointsbetter than they predicted.... already. .....you do realise that was a lighthearted pastiche article? But do have fun humourlessly "proving it wrong" for the rest of the season. Waah, waah sumwon said we woodent win. Waah wahh waaaaaah.

pap Posted 31 March, 2013 Posted 31 March, 2013 How old are you? CB Fry isn't happy unless he's trying to make someone else unhappy. It's all about making someone else look worse. My current theory is that he's pussy-whipped, and makes his contributions on here in between ironing sessions.
