Colinjb Posted 26 March, 2013 Share Posted 26 March, 2013 A critical World Cup qualifier. Montenegro, considering the size of the nation really have progressed astonishingly. The venue for the game tonight is the 12,000 capacity Podgorica Arena. A real cauldron. Group H is currently as follows: Montenegro, 5 Played, 4 Won, Drawn 1, Lost 0, 13 points ---------------------------------------------------------- England, 5 Played, 3 Won, 2 Drawn, Lost 0, 11 points Ukraine, 4 played, 1 won, 2 drawn, 1 lost, 5 points Poland, 4 played, 1 won, 2 drawn, 1 lost, 5 points Moldova, 5 played, 1 won, 1 drawn, 3 lost, 4 points San Marino, 5 played, 0 won, 0 drawn, 5 lost, 0 points An utterly key game.... and I can see Montenegro winning. Saint_clark Posted 26 March, 2013 Share Posted 26 March, 2013 I actually think playing the likes of Cleverly and Milner instead of Lampard and Young is the right thing to do. It'll be a scrappy game, everyone's really up for it.
Crab Lungs Posted 26 March, 2013 Share Posted 26 March, 2013 01 Hart = Had a wobbly season but still one of the best in the world. 02 Johnson = Overrated, average. Walker is better. 03 Cole = Still doing a steady job, though it'd be nice to phase Baines in for the WC. 05 Lescott = Meh. Average to decent CB, no more. 06 Smalling = Meh, but has potential. 04 Gerrard = Lost his legs, average midfielder. Lost his dynamism. 07 Milner = Hard-working, yes. International class? Absolutely not. Would rather Leon Britton. 08 Carrick = Half-decent defensive midfielder. 11 Cleverley = Utterly, abysmally average. 09 Welbeck = One goal in the PL all season. Say's it all, really. Lower PL player at best. 10 Rooney = Evidently has talent but is not a "top" player. I predict we'll be outplayed by yet another small international team but somehow win or draw and everything will be ok again.

It'll be a scrappy game, everyone's really up for it. You're joking, right! those two are crap, and that Welbeck, if this is our best eleven, then we would be best served, staying at home, to save the embarrassment imho. John Boy Saint Posted 26 March, 2013 Share Posted 26 March, 2013 They do move the ball well going forwards, but then when you are a small nation you pick your team from the best of what is available not just from 4 teams. Pinball goal that has been on the cards for a while.

Crab Lungs Posted 26 March, 2013 Share Posted 26 March, 2013 Montenegro has a smaller population than Birmingham and they're far better than us as a team. As someone said above, they pick the best available to them, not just from the four most favoured big clubs. We, on the other hand, continue to pick tried-and-tested losers and overrated youngsters. This video sums it all up. "The New Paul Scholes" Jack Rodwell. Watch his first touches for his deflected goal versus the Azeri U21 side. Yes, THE AZERI U21 side. His first touch sums up everything that's wrong with football in this country. Look at the players we've capped recently.... Livermore, Henderson, Shelvey, Cleverley... are they really dynamic, creative midfielders who can unlock a defence? Look at who we've got upfront. Danny Welbeck, 1 goal all season in the Premier League. Look at our midfield tonight. Cleverley... overrated beyond all recognition, Milner, uninspiring and uncreative, Gerrard "hollywood baller" and lost his legs. I love my country and want them to qualify for tournaments but we really don't deserve it playing this crap all the time.
dubai_phil Posted 26 March, 2013 Share Posted 26 March, 2013 Gerrard should have scored 3 in the last 5 mins, they faded very badly AFTER the change. Should have tweaked it earlier ROy, you'd have got the 3 points mate
Doctoroncall Posted 26 March, 2013 Share Posted 26 March, 2013 Well England have been shít for 84 minutes of this match. Conceding possession so easily and never in control of the match. Something I'm sure Roy said he was addressing.

Whitey Grandad Posted 26 March, 2013 Share Posted 26 March, 2013 Poor all round, very poor. If I can see what needs to be done from the other side of Europe why can't Woy? Players like Cleverley, Welbeck, Milner are nothing to be feared.
Wade Garrett Posted 26 March, 2013 Share Posted 26 March, 2013 To be fair to Milner, he was one of our better players tonight. Welbeck, Gerrard, Johnson, Lescott, Carrick and Cleverley were garbage. Cole average, and Rooney hardly touched the ball in the second half. Hodgson did nothing to counter the tactical changes his opposite number made. He just stuck his head in the sand and hoped for the best.

My grandma would do better. At least the know they get a handbag round the lughole at half time. To answer your question, yes, 'Arry would do better. I dont care about the England team because of Woy, his predecessors, the FA, the Beckham circus and the Golden (ha, ha) Generation. I would love England to sit on top of the world in football. I am sick to death of seeing the same old players selected because of who they are and who they play for, totally ignoring in-form alternatives.
