SuperMikey Posted 26 March, 2013 Posted 26 March, 2013 Wouldn't be surprised if he went for Dean Hammond. Sweepstake on when he signs Johnno Quick?
Super_Saint Posted 26 March, 2013 Posted 26 March, 2013 Kelvin Davis - Not getting games under us, and as good of a servant as he has been I can see him making a move. Top keeper for a Championship side. Danny Fox - With Shaw here, he is never going to earn his first team spot. Not good enough for this league but can do a job in the Championship. Frazer Richardson - Same as above (Clyne) Billy Sharp - Clearly not wanted here. If a club snaps up Le Fondre this summer it wouldn't surprise me if Sharp was his replacement. Richard Chaplow - An asset to any Championship club. Can really see Adkins going for him.
Matthew Le God Posted 26 March, 2013 Posted 26 March, 2013 Kelvin Davis - Not getting games under us, and as good of a servant as he has been I can see him making a move. Top keeper for a Championship side. 19 days ago he signed a new 3-year deal at Saints.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 26 March, 2013 Posted 26 March, 2013 Well that's that then. Players under contract never move on do they. It's not like Lee Barnard signed a contract only never to play again is it?
Super_Saint Posted 26 March, 2013 Posted 26 March, 2013 19 days ago he signed a new 3-year deal at Saints. Yes I know this, and I'm sure you're aware that Reading can still pay a fee for him. As far as I know, Reading have had issues with their Keepers this season, so it wouldn't surprise me if Adkins put in a bid.
Turkish Posted 26 March, 2013 Posted 26 March, 2013 Yes I know this, and I'm sure you're aware that Reading can still pay a fee for him. As far as I know, Reading have had issues with their Keepers this season, so it wouldn't surprise me if Adkins put in a bid. They've already got two keepers better than Davis.
Window Cleaner Posted 26 March, 2013 Posted 26 March, 2013 They've already got two keepers better than Davis. didn't make any difference at Saints though did it
david in sweden Posted 26 March, 2013 Posted 26 March, 2013 They've already got two keepers better than Davis. you're not be the only person to think that Turkish, but NA thought KD was good enough for the Prem. in August.....I wonder if he's changed his mind......or ?
Olallana Posted 26 March, 2013 Posted 26 March, 2013 If he was going in for a keeper it would probably be Gazza since he rates him and MP does not seem to do that based on the questions he got on a press conference not long ago....(dont remember which pre game conference it was).
lordswoodsaints Posted 26 March, 2013 Posted 26 March, 2013 I think his unhealthy fixation with guly could see him in a Reading shirt next season.
Saint Garrett Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 http://hobnob.royals.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=118260 Lallana is understood to be unsettled and was very keen on Adkins style. He IMHO be a great coup and maybe easier to get than we think Luke Shaw please.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 Shaw and Lambert have already been in discussions - source: Turk's insider
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 (edited) Shaw and Lambert have already been in discussions - source: Turk's insider Yup, Lambert signed a contract recently. This is what players do when they want to move away. Edited 27 March, 2013 by KelvinsRightGlove
Tokyo-Saint Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 Don't blame me blame Turks and Vman who keep PMing me with insider knowledge - along with the guy who does the St Mary's tours.
Olallana Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 They are talking about Sharp. Do we know if getting him out on loan was a Adkins or a Committee´s decision?
Appy Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 Not Fox, no way. (Hopes Reading fans read this post and are fooled we will miss him)
Saint Garrett Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 If they went down, they could do a lot worse than Hammond, Sharp and Fox. I would say Richardson as well, but Gunter is already better than him.
Charlie Wayman Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 Of course he can't sign anybody until July so not much point in speculating wildly. Whoever is released here may be targets but let's wait until our retention list is published first.
Miltonroader07 Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 I was thinking maybe Sharp, Hammond, Chaplow and Jos could all be contenders to go. Good call Bridgey..
david in sweden Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 (edited) Considering he never picked him here, that is highly unlikely. correct of course, but he loved having him on the bench ..about 20-odd sub. apps last season ..and then there was THAT goal v. Reading ...(who knows?). Whichever way you look at it, it'd be strange if he DIDN'T look to some of our playing staff- especially as there are likely to be so many on the move in the summer.... The9 Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 you're not be the only person to think that Turkish, but NA thought KD was good enough for the Prem. in August.....I wonder if he's changed his mind......or ? ...or he's going to unretire and put on the gloves himself? It's not like it would affect his ability to manage from the bench...
The9 Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 Yup, Lambert signed a contract recently. This is what players do when they want to move away. It's what clubs do when they want to get a better price for players... sometimes...
bender Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 Some of us are assuming were definitely staying up and Reading not. We are highly likely to lose at home to Chelsea on Saturday and if we then lose to Reading which could happen given the spice of the occasion, it'll all be doom and gloom on here again.

It will be doom and gloom if we lose to Reading, but odds are still that we'll still stay up and Reading won't. Even if what you say happens we'll still be 5 points ahead of Reading - unless they also beat Arsenal away, which I wouldn't say was one of Adkins' strengths.
Appy Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 They've already got two keepers better than Davis. Exactly, McCarthy is an excellent keeper especially.
Saint Garrett Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 Exactly, McCarthy is an excellent keeper especially. Yer, I've heard Chelsea are after him from a mate...might be ******** though...
Turkish Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 Yer, I've heard Chelsea are after him from a mate...might be ******** though... Is it the same mate who told you Sunderland are paying Adam Johnson £125k a week?
Saint IOW Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 Why Jos ?? I think he has looked good at the back lately any player will score own goals if the ball gets blasted at him from 4 yards out Pooch must think he is good enough he has picked him enough
Saint Garrett Posted 28 March, 2013 Posted 28 March, 2013 Is it the same mate who told you Sunderland are paying Adam Johnson £125k a week? Nope.
david in sweden Posted 29 March, 2013 Posted 29 March, 2013 Why Jos ?? I think he has looked good at the back lately any player will score own goals if the ball gets blasted at him from 4 yards out Pooch must think he is good enough he has picked him enough I agree, but sadly none of Jos' " own-goals " looked anywhere as good as Gareth Barry's, a very deft side-footed effort.
Matthew Le God Posted 31 March, 2013 Posted 31 March, 2013 Probably the first of many stories like this... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/reading-transfer-news-nigel-adkins-1795631?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

david in sweden Posted 5 April, 2013 Posted 5 April, 2013 ]He should know what we paid[/b]. Offer that and we got a deal. Although, even knowing that .......and expecting to pay the same.... is something else. When Billy came to Saints, he was Donny's only hope of survival.....after he left, they went down like a lead balloon. Thankfully, Billy did AJFU at the end of the season (8 goals in 8 games)...just at the (right) point in time when Rickie was having a relatively dry spell. However, after signing Jay Rod ..NA didn't see him as a part of the new line-up, but his loan-out to Forest has proven a success. will he go?..almost certainly, but I'd be looking for Cortese to negotiate a sizeable profit on a transfer deal.
