Scot Sinclair

Yep, think this would be a decent signing, the sort of pacey direct player that we probably lack, or at least lack in numbers.

Don't think we pay him £70k a week though, get it down to £40 -45k and get Man City to pay the rest, pretty sure they are doing the same thing with Johnson at Sunderland.

There is a point to sign a LB to sit on the bench. If Shaw was out ofr say 3 months at one point Fox isn't good enough to cover.

Its a myth you can't sign players to be squad players - if they are better than the current squad player, ie Fox, then why not?

Same with Richardson. I would look to bring in someone better than him.

Agree with much of what you say. Personally for me:

1. GK or Boruc

2. Player to play in the attacking mid 3 ie Coutinho type.

3. Top CB

3. Cover full backs for both sides

4. Striker

5. Young developing central midfielder

As good as Shaw is its dangerous to rely on a 17 year old as your only decent player in that position. His body is still developing and youngsters do tend to have dips in form as they establish themselves. We also wouldn't want to burn him out. I'd look to bring someone in either on loan or an experienced player as a squad player.

Would be a very good signing I reckon. As others have said, he's young, British and hungry for football. £6m is a good price, £70k a week is a joke considering how little football he has played recently. Plenty of time for him to develop and get better as a player too.

Who would you prefer people?

Sinclair or Lens?

Probably around the same amount of money for both of them in term of transfer fees and wages.

Lens football-wise for me, but not to sure about his mentality...

Not seen enough of Lens to decide. Sinclair more proven in the Prem and is also 'homegrown.

Wold you go as far as to say signing him would be a real statement of intent?

dunno, but if you want to attract the top players the only way to do it these days is to offer them massive wages. Is he worth £70k a week to us?

I double checked and I was wrong about Sinclair not getting into the side towards the end of last season. He started the last 6 games and most of the others as well. Not sure where I got that idea from.

Personally I'd be happy to see some pace added to the side and wide left is a position we have been particularly weak when Lallana has been injured.

Bit worried about Scott Sinclair's "big time" mentality due to him signing for City for the short-term cash at the possible expense of his longer-term career, but it's understandable, and there's no doubting he's a decent top flight player who will have a big upside if he's prepared to put the work in.

Little bit of a risky one though, but having his brother here already might not hurt our chances.
