dubai_phil Posted 24 March, 2013 Share Posted 24 March, 2013 OK this was on FB today think it needs some discussion before http://www.popmatters.com/pm/post/167625-r.e.m.s-losing-my-religion-in-a-major-key-video/ When I first noticed that something professing to be R.E.M.‘s “Losing My Religion” in a major key was making the rounds on the Internet, I assumed it was some sort of joke at the expense of “Shiny Happy People”. Not so. In fact, it’s a digitally reworked recording of the iconic song by a Vimeo account called Major Scaled, which has given similar treatment to songs by Metallica, the Doors, and a few others. If you’ve heard the original song, it sounds—well, weird, upbeat, and more than a little off. You don’t have to be a music theory expert to spot the difference. And if you haven’t heard the original song? I’m not sure there’s anyone alive who can share that perspective. http://vimeo.com/57685359 The Doors below is just WRONG Any other Crimes against music remixes or strange new technology attempts you've come across? dubai_phil Posted 24 March, 2013 Author Share Posted 24 March, 2013 Reading the many comments. The Dude who had (more time than Tokyo Bearsy & Turks) on his hands has taken a very simple music fact and shown up the difference between Major & Minor keys. ROFL at the Metallica sounding almost Mumford esque on another of his projects
Pugwash Posted 24 March, 2013 Share Posted 24 March, 2013 Perfect illustrations of the principle that: Just because you CAN do something, it doesn't mean you SHOULD.
