spyinthesky Posted 24 March, 2013 Posted 24 March, 2013 I was fortunate to be invited to a private dinner at Beaulieu House recently and, on leaving, saw a Saints scarf on the coat rack On enquiring with the House Keeper who it belonged to was informed 'Lord Montague' Presume it would be one of the younger members of the family not 'THE' Lord of the Manor. Nevertheless supporting the Saints didn't really seem to fit in with the family surroundings. Set me wondering if there were any other 'Unexpected' Saints fans. Tiff Neadell comes to mind as I assumed he would be too tied up in Motor Sport to follow the Beautiful Game. The Chairman of Selfridges was another than somehow didn't fit the mould in my mind
UpweySaint Posted 24 March, 2013 Posted 24 March, 2013 Our most famous fans, Craig David and Lucy Pinder surely?
ottery st mary Posted 24 March, 2013 Posted 24 March, 2013 Sir Alex Ferguson has become a fan of the mighty Saints... He now wants to buy half our side.

VectisSaint Posted 24 March, 2013 Posted 24 March, 2013 On enquiring with the House Keeper who it belonged to was informed 'Lord Montague' Presume it would be one of the younger members of the family not 'THE' Lord of the Manor. If you were told it belonged to Lord Montague then it wouldn't be one of the younger members of the family. There is only one Lord Montagu (note spelling these days), you don't get junior lords. One Lord Montagu, there's only one Lord Montagu.
SaintRobbie Posted 24 March, 2013 Posted 24 March, 2013 Alan Titchmarsh MBE is of course a man of the red and white cloth.
The Kraken Posted 24 March, 2013 Posted 24 March, 2013 HRH Queen Elizabeth. Such a staunch Saints fan that she has refused to attend a Wembley Cup final since our victory in 1976.
Greenridge Posted 24 March, 2013 Posted 24 March, 2013 Iwan Thomas, drummer from Coldplay He was an athlete surely? Mind you he has got the busiest agent out there so maybe he's had a career change?
Reggie Dunlop Posted 24 March, 2013 Posted 24 March, 2013 Back to when we were in premiership before, saw the chef James Martin a few times in the chapel stand
John Boy Saint Posted 24 March, 2013 Posted 24 March, 2013 Recall Claire Balding being seen a couple of times under the Itchen a few years back, having a half time smoko when you could do such a thing.
Lambert1979 Posted 24 March, 2013 Posted 24 March, 2013 I vividly remember Iwan Thomas being asked if he supported us on question of sport years ago and him saying something along the lines of "no they're rubbish", suddenly we got to the FA cup final and he's "lifelong fan, Iwan Thomas"
The Kraken Posted 24 March, 2013 Posted 24 March, 2013 I vividly remember Iwan Thomas being asked if he supported us on question of sport years ago and him saying something along the lines of "no they're rubbish", suddenly we got to the FA cup final and he's "lifelong fan, Iwan Thomas" He started out (and still is) a Spurs fan. His bio here: http://www.speakersassociates.com/Iwan-Thomas-MBE.aspx lists his work for the Saints Foundation but says he's a Tottenham fan.
Tony F Posted 24 March, 2013 Posted 24 March, 2013 Lord Mawhinney according to his speech at the end-of-season dinner last May
Miltonaggro Posted 24 March, 2013 Posted 24 March, 2013 Ray Allen and Lord Charles were Saints fans. Being an aristocratic puppet I was shocked to see a ZDS cup final scarf and Feasters hot dog in Lord Charles' suitcase...
SaintRobbie Posted 24 March, 2013 Posted 24 March, 2013 Recall Claire Balding being seen a couple of times under the Itchen a few years back, having a half time smoko when you could do such a thing. Far too much opportunity for use of innuendo in this statement.
Pat from Poole Posted 24 March, 2013 Posted 24 March, 2013 That guy on the panel on Question Time on Thursday night. Mark Littlewood. Was wearing a Saints tie. Was very right-wing in his outlook.
alehouseboys Posted 25 March, 2013 Posted 25 March, 2013 Tiff Neadell comes to mind as I assumed he would be too tied up in Motor Sport to follow the Beautiful Game. Even more surprising that he originally comes from Havant - as well as Roger Black also from that neck of the woods. Alan Titchmarsh MBE is of course a man of the red and white cloth. Never heard that before and I think he's even been seen down the road. Exiled Yorkshireman. Iwan Thomas, drummer Spurs fan, got a liking for Saints when he moved to Hampshire and got pally with Le Tiss. Back to when we were in premiership before, saw the chef James Martin a few times in the chapel stand Another exiled Yorkie who lives in Winchester. Probably just fancied a day out.
Fuengirola Saint Posted 25 March, 2013 Posted 25 March, 2013 That guy on the panel on Question Time on Thursday night. Mark Littlewood. Was wearing a Saints tie. Was very right-wing in his outlook. Yeah, i saw that ,what a chunt
St Matty Posted 25 March, 2013 Posted 25 March, 2013 Iwan Thomas, drummer from Coldplay Surely you mean Will Champion. ST holder.
Saint J 77 Posted 25 March, 2013 Posted 25 March, 2013 Lord Mawhinney according to his speech at the end-of-season dinner last May Even though he fu"ked us over
The9 Posted 25 March, 2013 Posted 25 March, 2013 Surely you mean Will Champion. ST holder. What he means is to put a semi-colon and not a comma. I'm shocked that everyone is suddenly so interested in correct grammar on here.
Bucks Saint Posted 25 March, 2013 Posted 25 March, 2013 Gavyn Davies. Ex Goldman Sachs, ex BBC chairman and still very much minted
Redondo Saint Posted 25 March, 2013 Posted 25 March, 2013 I vividly remember Iwan Thomas being asked if he supported us on question of sport years ago and him saying something along the lines of "no they're rubbish", suddenly we got to the FA cup final and he's "lifelong fan, Iwan Thomas" We used to drink in The Osborne pre-game in the Dell days and he was often there, so would suggest he is a long time fan.
Miltonaggro Posted 25 March, 2013 Posted 25 March, 2013 Yeah, i saw that ,what a chunt[/quote Wish I'd seen it, he sounds a right bell end...
Trumush Posted 25 March, 2013 Posted 25 March, 2013 Claire's brother Andrew ( Racehorse Trainer ) is also a fan. Cant remember whether it was their father Ian or uncle Toby who was a Saints Director back in the 50's,60's Recall Claire Balding being seen a couple of times under the Itchen a few years back, having a half time smoko when you could do such a thing.
maysie Posted 25 March, 2013 Posted 25 March, 2013 That guy on the panel on Question Time on Thursday night. Mark Littlewood. Was wearing a Saints tie. Was very right-wing in his outlook. I think that was Barry Sanchez
SaintBobby Posted 26 March, 2013 Posted 26 March, 2013 That guy on the panel on Question Time on Thursday night. Mark Littlewood. Was wearing a Saints tie. Was very right-wing in his outlook. He was on the money. What part of what he said did you (or others) disagree with?
St Matty Posted 26 March, 2013 Posted 26 March, 2013 What he means is to put a semi-colon and not a comma. I'm shocked that everyone is suddenly so interested in correct grammar on here. ha ha, I see what you mean - I wasn't being a grammar Nazi - honestly.
Noodles34 Posted 26 March, 2013 Posted 26 March, 2013 how often does this thread come up, every fukin 3 months or so, why? No one had mentioned that old turncoat dog Fiona Phillips yet either. One that people wont be aware of is Robert Mugabe, apparently got a liking for Saints went he went on a jolly with Mobutu, and they caught a game (Sainst v Liverpool - the channon goal one) on some dodgy African channel - True Story.
Wade Garrett Posted 26 March, 2013 Posted 26 March, 2013 Peter Noone from Hermans Hermits once headbutted Noddy Holder because he said that Wolves were better than Saints. He also gave John Lennon a Chinese burn, because he thought Ian St John was a better player than Terry Paine.

mcjwills Posted 26 March, 2013 Posted 26 March, 2013 Lord Mawhinney according to his speech at the end-of-season dinner last May Even though he fu"ked us over But if he's had not we would not be where we are today, everything that happened has lead us to where we are today, his fu"cking us over gave us the chance to rebuild and bond without too much pressure.
SuperMikey Posted 26 March, 2013 Posted 26 March, 2013 Rob Da Bank Was completely sozzled in The Alex after the Cov game last season. Good bloke!
St Chalet Posted 26 March, 2013 Posted 26 March, 2013 If the FL hadn't of screwed us over every club in the league would have emulated our structure. We ran out of money, and ultimately we got the -10 the following season because we managed to get relegated under our own steam. ****s like Mike Wilde put us where we were, nobody else.
Wes Tender Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 ****s like Mike Wilde put us where we were, nobody else. ****s like Lowe, Askham, Richards, Dulieu, etc, then Lowe and Wilde together, you mean? And how long does that list have to be before the "nobody else" begins to look a bit silly?
Saint J 77 Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 (edited) But if he's had not we would not be where we are today, everything that happened has lead us to where we are today, his fu"cking us over gave us the chance to rebuild and bond without too much pressure. I agree we needed to have a start fresh. Administration and the take over would of still happened though. Plus he seemed to do it with a smile on his face in the Sky sports interview at the time. We were very fortunate with our take over too, it could have got much worse after administration, no on knew at the time what it would bring. Edited 27 March, 2013 by Saint J 77
Barry Sanchez Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 Darth Vader, he was ofter seen in the under East in the 80's,.
Whitey Grandad Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 Darth Vader, he was ofter seen in the under East in the 80's,. Makes sense. That would have been the dark side.
Ohio Saint Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 Footy pundit Matt Le Tissier seems to like us.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 Footy pundit Matt Le Tissier seems to like us. Spurs fan
VectisSaint Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 Don't know if anyone watched the Spike Milligan documentary on ITV on Monday night. I've always been a Milligna fan (hence my avatar), and of course my admiration for him was compounded years ago when he famously put Portsmouth in Room 101, because he hated the place. But I never really gave it any thought that he may have had some Saints interest, after all why would he. He was Irish, born in India, lived in London. BUT, and here's my point, in the said documentary, there was a brief part where it showed a picture (black and white) of Spike wearing a woolly football hat, we're talking 1970s era I would think, and it definitely said "SAINT" on the side - the angle of the photo meant that the final S would have been hidden. So, did Spike actually have some connection with Saints?

VectisSaint Posted 27 March, 2013 Posted 27 March, 2013 (edited) Classic, thanks Waggy. Seems like Sellers ought to have been a Saints fan as well. Even if he was born a Skate. Edited 27 March, 2013 by VectisSaint
