Fabio better than Luke Shaw

It may be a biased opinion but.... really?

The point is Fabio has the same set of core skills as Luke Shaw and going after Shaw could be a waste of time, energy and money. Despite the height, he's arguably quicker, better on the ball, fitter and just as effective going forward.

Fabio has a history at United and proven experience of having played in a top Premier League side under the pressure which comes for any player representing United.

The only way his brother Rafael developed into arguably the best right back in the world, is through being thrown in at the deep end at United time and time again in big games and high pressure situations.

One of the worst articles I've ever read.

Big clubs really do believe their own hype, don't they? We've had Liverpool fans describe Jordan Henderson as "world class" and now we've got this strange news piece telling us Rafael is one of the best, if not the best right-back in the world and Fabio is better than Luke Shaw.

Yes, I know a few got a bit carried away with Kelvin's nPC form but this truly is crap. This is exactly why the likes of Cleverley get in the England squad. Overrated massively, but at a "big club.

It's early days, but I've not seen anyone come from the academy who has looked as "complete" as Luke Shaw, including Bale. (Not saying Shaw will be better or is the finished article but for his age, he's shown unbelievably maturity).

If I remember back we used to grumble that Bale was'nt as a good a defender as he might be on this forum

Name one...

Well, his stupid free kick straight to Suarez, his clearance straight to Johnson leading to their goal, his clearance straight to Park v Qpr, getting skinned for Keneyne's goal vs Stoke.

Not all those have cost us points but potentially goals.

Great player but defensively nowhere near perfect. Anyone who thinks his defensive work is without fault is just naive. IMO of course.

Of course he's not going to be perfect, he's 17. It just seems he's that much more comfortable in this league than possibly any of the other defenders, maybe Clyne too but I agree with your point.

Somebody tell Shaw to crouch down in post match interviews. If the only reason any club would want him is because he's tall I say we spread the word he's essentially shirefolk and rather useless at football!

I didn't realise he was 6' 1". I also didn't realise one of his middle names was Hoare. Thanks Wikipedia!

There have been quite a few to be fair. Still quality player though.

He should have done better by getting back to attempt a challenge for Liverpool's goal last week. When the ball got cleared by Rodriquez (I think it was) he got caught wandering up field, then when the ball was hit back in quickly he wasn't in position to try to challenge for the ball from Sturridge and one other. Not saying he definitely would have stopped the goal but could've made it harder for the player to get that first shot away which deflected into Coutinho's path.

Making mistakes now and then, but would have him over Fabio any day.

Good article, I just hope that Red Nose shares their opinion on their boy Fabio.

Shaw is no way 'good enough' for them ;)

Yeh Rafael best right back in the world made me laugh. Shaw isn't perfect but he's better than Fabio by a lot.

Fabio isn't even a regular for QPR, Troare gets in a head of him and he's terrible.

But like Morgan I'm quite happy for the big clubs and their fans to undrerate our players.

Yeah, the problem is though that the people who actually matter in football DO rate our players, so expect a few bids for key figures in the summers of 2013 and 2014 at least! I want Shaw to stay with us for his whole career, and with the right treatment and progress I don't see why he wouldn't.

Because he will want to play at the highest level which won't be happening anytime soon, like all players he will want to test himself at the business end of the league, in the Champions league and internationally. I can see him getting international caps while a Saints player but the other two are not going to happen oh and dodn't mention the circa 100K a week he could earn at oneof the big boys that we can't match!

Realistically we can't keep him here for his whole career unless he has a Le Tiss level of loyalty or doesn't quite turn out to be the top player we think he's going to be. I reckon however if we are playing premiership football with the good finances we should be able to keep these players until they are about 22-23, rather than them leaving at 17/18 as they have done previously. Some of these youngster have rushed off to the bigger clubs and not done so well, look at Bale for example. Hopefully we will get a couple of seasons of them as top palyers before they move when they are ready for the next step up.

We might get the odd loyal fellow that wants to stay here longer but most will leave for the bright lights of the champions league and £100k a week.

The errors were in direct response to someone challenging someone else to "name a goal-costing mistake", not much more to it than that. FWIW, 6 different goals were mentioned.
