Is this quite a regular thing? I'll be looking to play some weekend football again next year, and this looks right up my street... Sadly even if there was a open slot I couldn't make this one, but I'd be very interested in the future.

I generally play right back or right wing and I'd describe myself as somewhere between poor and average (I'd fit right in by the sounds of things).

Hoping it'll be more regular next season, playing games against other fans teams.

Looks like we wont have any problems getting the numbers together if we've got 2 teams for this one. We'll just have to get on other clubs message boards a good couple of weeks in advance so they've got long enough to get a team together.

There's a long-standing email list which other team managers are subscribed to, so that side of things is already sorted. This game would have been fine but for the fairly exceptional circumstances with their manager.

FWIW shirts are

If people want to know which colour shorts and socks they should try and bring if they can. (i.e. black shorts, red socks for home and navy/navy for away). I'm sure Steve won't give a toss if people don't match but I'll be bringing my kit OCDs. ;)

To whoever plays RM for the away team, I apologise in advance for the drooling mess who will be stood behind you. Unless it's Mike, he can p*ss off.

haha why thank you!

hahaha very probably but I will still enjoy watching you run...9 shirts ;)

You won't see me run. You'll also note I still haven't come back to play for your 7-a-side team at Wide Lane yet from about 4 years ago...

hahaha! Did think I was being optimistic with the running bit. Don't think you'd recognise any of the players now, only 2 of the originals left. Fairing slightly better it has to be said

I didn't realise you were still even playing tbh, and I didn't know any of them in the first place. Besides, it wasn't your lot that was the problem, it was the opposition.Took that one game for me to realise I wasn't fit enough and was too injured to be competitive, you just can't make the tiny balance adjustments you need to make when you're seized up and think your knee's going to go any time you change direction. I haven't got any younger or less injured. :(

To be honest I am now getting like that too, my head wants to carry on but body isn't agreeing. It takes longer to recover now too! Not fun! :(

Probably me at some point... :)

so who is going to decide start XI and subs etc for the away team? I nominate Minty :)

Steve has asked me to, but I'm sure it'll all fall into place nicely. :)

Good game, I enjoyed it

Just couldnt get a grip of that midfield, you had three in there which made it hard and all of them decent players

Remind me next time not to have a skinfull the night before aswell ;)

Enjoyed that... still don't know who exactly half of you were on the pitch, to put faces to 'names', btu enjoyed it nonetheless.

I was the one that made you cry!

Don't know but some of the shooting for the home team was comical.

I had my head in my hands a few times, perhaps I was right not to have a go with that freekick

I did hit the bar TBF... Ok ok play had stopped

The best bit had to be 3 home players all going for the same header and landing in a head on the floor.

I was the right sided CB for the away team in case anyone was wondering. The dodgy one in other words.

You couldnt have been that dodgy, you managed to keep us out of the net.

Special mention to Tim from a member of the home team BTW.

It was a good laugh, the three striker pileup a particular highlight, or Baj's (can we say goal ?) effort, would have been nice to put some forum names to faces though

Baj's 'goal' was brilliant. I'd just gone lunging in on Rabbit and looked up to see Baj tripping over the ball and falling into the net with it stuck between his legs. Unbelievable tekkers! Definitely offside though.

Number 8 home team, having switched allegiance before kick off.

I liked TT's quote when free on the edge of the box and asking for a pass "make an old man happy"

Ahh, was I right to call you Dave then ?

Half way through I thought sh!t what if its not Dave !!

Good game, enjoyed the run out, although am feeling it today! I was RB for the away side aka super sub
