I said from his first season that Morgan was going to be a class act. I said in league one he'll eventually be our most important player. I said in the championship he'll probably end up at a top four club. Now we're in the prem' i can't help but think that not only will he go on to play at a top four club he'll also captain France at some point.

But then again i don't base my judgements on a computer game or the old kick and rush of the past.

The one seems entirely dependant on the other, he's not even on Deschamps radar just now. Deschamps = big club, big club, big club. This is a throwback to 1998, they were nearly all playing in Italy, Juventus,AC Milan etc etc.

I'd imagine he is very much on Deschamps radar, just as every other French player in the premier league is. If you think the French scouts don't watch their players in the top flights abroad then i think you'll be very surprised.

I do however agree he'll have to move to a top four club to do it, but i think that the chances of that happening in the next couple of seasons is actually very high.

No if you read the translation of the L'Equipe article that I put up yesterday he says he's had no pre-convocation whatsoever.

That means that he's not on the radar, not being watched and Deschamps and his staff don't give a toss about a player playing for some club they've hardly even heard of. Steed Malbranque however, yes he must be about 104 by now, is on the pre-convocation list (about 40 odd players) just because he plays for Lyon. And as French clubs go Lyon is big. On the latest list there are players from PSG,Marseille,Lyon,Juventus,Real Madrid, Spurs (just LLoris) Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Man U, Man City and Newcastle (cos they were in the side before they went there). Deschamps and his people have no time for also rans. If you're not playing european football you won't get into a Deschamp EDF.

Anyone got Morgan vs cleverly stats to hand? Against Montenegro tonight he (cleverly) is playing like a ballbag.

And hart (who I still rate highly) just let the ball through his legs again a la rickie.

Thanks, that's not what I asked though, was interested in a stats comparison... not that stats are the be all and end all as someone will no doubt point out. Weird that i have to caveat a post on a forum... hey ho.

Anyway replacing a **** player with a better player generally means your team will be improved assuming they play the same position and can play for the country in question. Just my view. And it's right.

I think a while back he dismissed opting to play for England anyway.

So last night Pogba got sent off and Cabaye and Matuidi picked up yellow cards again meaning they will all be suspended for the next WC qualifier in Septmber. Don't know if that will change Deschamps mule headedness though we shall see if there are any friendlies before then.

Interviewed in France Football, Schneiderlin also explained how he was on the receiving end of a bad tackle when the two sides met last April at St Mary's.

'The first thing they told me when I arrived [from Strasbourg] was to never go there [Portsmouth]. Nathan Dyer and a few others had had problems in a night club there,' he said.

'I have played in this derby - it's pure hatred. Everyone talks only of it all year. Last season in the return game [at St Mary's in April 2012] Luke Varney launched himself into a knee-high tackle after just six minutes. I had to go off with a bruise on my left knee and a hole in my right. I was out for three weeks.

'But they went down and we won promotion. At the final match of the season our fans displayed a banner which said:"Who's laughing now?"'
