Hedgehog Posted 17 March, 2013 Posted 17 March, 2013 Perhaps i missed it, but they did a table on MOTD2 and top midfield players goal scoring in premier league. No Matty!!
Jonnyboy Posted 18 March, 2013 Posted 18 March, 2013 I was going to post both of the above. BBC bias again.
Super_Saint Posted 18 March, 2013 Posted 18 March, 2013 Saw that, are they classing MLT as a forward or something? ****ing ****s.
Trader Posted 18 March, 2013 Posted 18 March, 2013 It's because he works for Sky. As far as the BBC is concerned he never existed.
adrian lord Posted 18 March, 2013 Posted 18 March, 2013 It's the BBC and the Illuminati in cahoots against us again, Alan Hansen is really a giant lizard thing.
a1ex2001 Posted 19 March, 2013 Posted 19 March, 2013 Saw that, are they classing MLT as a forward or something? ****ing ****s. Lets be honest he was never really a midfielder that was just really convenient when picking a fantasy football team! He was a forward as is dempsey.
dellboypete Posted 19 March, 2013 Posted 19 March, 2013 He was midfield when we attacked as he couldn't keep up with play and a striker when we were defending as he couldn't get back quick enough!! What a legend - I still talk about him to anyone vaguely interested in football
The Flying Finn Posted 19 March, 2013 Posted 19 March, 2013 Lets be honest he was never really a midfielder that was just really convenient when picking a fantasy football team! He was a forward as is dempsey. By that same logic (which I do not disagree with) then so is Ronaldo. And he was in the list
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 19 March, 2013 Posted 19 March, 2013 It's a tough one I think. Players like Matty, Tim Cahill, Ronaldo, and even Lampard are often classed as Midfielders, but really, they aren't. Perhaps Lampard to a lesser extent, but they rarely do little midfield duties, let alone the defensive duties of a midfielder. All still very good goalscoring options from deeper positions.
acersaint Posted 19 March, 2013 Posted 19 March, 2013 I thought MLT had the record for the first midfielder to score 100 premiership goals
a1ex2001 Posted 20 March, 2013 Posted 20 March, 2013 It's a tough one I think. Lampard really doesn't fit in the forwards list I'd put him firmly as a midfielder like Scholes or Gerrard. The others you name are much more in the forward category Cahill often played more as a second forward and Ronaldo played where ever the hell he liked! We all love MLT and rightly so but he was never a midfielder!
