Ashley Grute Posted 17 March, 2013 Share Posted 17 March, 2013 Anyone know what injury he picked up- haven't seen it anywhere.
farawaysaint Posted 17 March, 2013 Share Posted 17 March, 2013 Gash on his knee, didn't look too bad but he was obviously sore enough to not continue.
Chez Posted 17 March, 2013 Share Posted 17 March, 2013 as his number one fan I'm glad about that, but even I was surprised we started with him yesterday rather than Fonte. Big striker Jos, small striker Yoshida/Fonte.
Saint Martini Posted 17 March, 2013 Share Posted 17 March, 2013 He had a gash on his knee but I think he was pointing to his Achilles' heel which he apparently injured when Suarez clipped him trying to get to the ball.
Ashley Grute Posted 17 March, 2013 Author Share Posted 17 March, 2013 Good- not too bad then- would be useful to have him against players like Carroll and Jones.

Andre Posted 17 March, 2013 Share Posted 17 March, 2013 He'll be back, but Fonte played well when he came on and I never understood why he didn't start in the first place. Fonte to continue, Jos to be a good ol' sub again!
John Boy Saint Posted 17 March, 2013 Share Posted 17 March, 2013 Seemed a bit more than a gashed knee, from where I was sat facing him in the Chapel. The physio appeared to be checking his breathing feeling his chest. Unless he is queezy at the sight of blood.
Tony F Posted 17 March, 2013 Share Posted 17 March, 2013 I don't want to sound like a "Jos knocker" but I thought he started the match pretty poorly and was looking a liability. His injury and the subsequent introduction of Jose was a significant turning point in the match in my view. From that point on, I felt that the likelhood of a real mess-up in defence was much less than when Jos was on the pitch. I thought Jose and Maya had a good game - however our backs were AWESOME

How can that be a turning point when we had 80% possession in the first 20 minutes??

Who was the 2nd guy who was rushed on and feeling his pulse - was it the club doctor? I got the impression it was a chest problem also.
