UpweySaint Posted 18 March, 2013 Share Posted 18 March, 2013 Fair enough; I've only really seen him in European games and other TV games but I've been very impressed. I knew he was quick, but didn't realise quite how rapid he is. On TalkSport on my drive home today Adrian Durham (who was at St. Mary's on Saturday) made a point of saying how good Shaw and Clyne were, and that he wouldn't mind seeing them given a chance with England. Mmm you are right on his day he can be a real threat going foward and is a proper speed merchant up and down the channels. Still though even if he was first choice clyne's versatility of being able to play on either side would do his prospects of making a future squad no harm even if he isnt first choice
mitch01 Posted 18 March, 2013 Share Posted 18 March, 2013 I'd be amazed if Cork ever plays for England. He's a great player for us, but I'm not sure he is comfortable enough on the ball for international football. A great player without the ball, just a good one with it. mitch01 Posted 18 March, 2013 Share Posted 18 March, 2013 Surely that's only relevant if there are lots of CMs better on the ball than him? He's a better player than Henderson, Barry is often shown up badly, Gerrard everywhere but the centre of the pitch and I haven't seen much of Livermore but he didn't seem to have to do much to win a cap. Thats true, players have done less and got England caps. That doesn't necessarily mean Cork has merited one, though. That said, Cork has looked far more accomplished in this league than I thought he would at the start of the season. We really have looked a different team since he came back from injury in November.
