Dr Who? Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Chelsea h - lose (they seem to have a good record at SMS Reading a - draw (as we can never seem to beat them) West Ham h - win Swansea a - lose WBA h - win Spurs a - lose Sunderland a - draw Stoke h - win 11 points from the next 9...... Safe!
Jonnyboy Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Roy Hodgson should come watch our games more often!
sussexsaint Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Erm... Just looked and we are only 3 points away from 10th, didn't realise how close its all got mid table !
Jonnyboy Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Villa fans must be even happier than us today. Huge result for them.
VectisSaint Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Got my prediction wrong again ! Never, find that very hard to believe.
Jonnyboy Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Roy Hodgson should come watch our games more often! About 6 players trying to get a call up I reckon.
Convict Colony Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 The reason we lost the game is this. Southampton were excellent and played better than us. Well done Saints and bad day at the office for the reds. Noone needs to get sacked or sold. Sometimes in football you get beat. It's just that our poor start to the season has left us needing the impossible. http://forums.liverpoolfc.com/threads/334192-Southampton-Liverpool-POST-MATCH-THREAD?p=8823986#post8823986 Only time i check someone else forum is after a win.
Saints boy in Leeds Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 J-rod is getting better and better every week. He looks more than capable of playing through the middle,a lot of people wrote him off as £7mill flop but if the last few games are anything to go buy we may of done a very good bit of business Good shout, may make up for the signing of Gaston, I think we all hope GR will be a lot better next season if he stays, well done to all !!
Dazza82 Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 That game could of been out of sight if we took our chances in the first half Lallana's finishing is awful, he needs to work on that
Dalek2003 Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Cracking result, lots of good performances, Setanta had Lallana mom and I had to agree. Worth mentioning Boruc. Did not need to perform heroics but looked consitantly solid and made all the right decisions when called up. God ive missed having a keeper we could rely on! Humble pie for me im afraid as I doubted if he still had it but he's showed form temporary class permanent. Boruc exudes confidence. He looks like the world class goalkeeper that is his reputation.
Window Cleaner Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Great win Saints! Could have scored more imo. at least we scored 3, seeing as our problem has been failing to score at all of late we should be content with 3. Still reckon scoring early is what counts.
Dr Who? Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Anyone fancy top 10??? No, even with my predicted 11 points, taking us to 42 points. This would be 9th if we took all the points today! But there is a gap between 9th and 10th...... But no.
Window Cleaner Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Boruc exudes confidence. He looks like the world class goalkeeper that is his reputation. and the back-pass is always an option if the defenders are in trouble, counts for a lot.
VectisSaint Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Erm... Just looked and we are only 3 points away from 10th, didn't realise how close its all got mid table ! Careful, the intelligensia on here confirmed that 10th is impossible for us. You will be shot down for even considering that 10th might be within reach once the trolls catch on.
DG Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Really pleased for the manager and players, hopefully there'll be a bit less pressure going into April and we can climb further up the league and have a meaningless last day for a change.
lloydie Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Anyone fancy top 10??? Ha! I wish, not like you to be optimistic is it?! I'd love us to finish 10th, however we do have to acknowledge that quite a number of the teams between us and 10th (IE:all of them) have a game or two in hand so that'll spread the distance out a tad more than it looks, currently. Although it looks good, currently! PS: have you developed a fetish for posting league tables today?!
UpweySaint Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Boruc exudes confidence. He looks like the world class goalkeeper that is his reputation. You can tell the defence have faith in him, often when things looked edgy they would pass it back to him and he'd clear it effectively.
Dalek2003 Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Villa fans must be even happier than us today. Huge result for them. I think QPR will find it hard to climb to safety now. Probably knocked the stuffing out of them. Still think Reading will go down. Anyone think that Slumberland or Norwich to be pulled into it ?
Window Cleaner Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 No, even with my predicted 11 points, taking us to 42 points. This would be 9th if we took all the points today! But there is a gap between 9th and 10th...... But no. too many teams with too many games in hand make 10th a bit of a pipe dream.
sussexsaint Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 QPR look gone! Couldn't happen to a nicer chap. That implosion will be fun to watch.
Olallana Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 If (and I say IF) we finish 10th you know what it would sound like here... yeah yeah, top half.....still bottom of that half.....
Dalek2003 Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Chelsea h - lose (they seem to have a good record at SMS Reading a - draw (as we can never seem to beat them) West Ham h - win Swansea a - lose WBA h - win Spurs a - lose Sunderland a - draw Stoke h - win 11 points from the next 9...... Safe! They would be brilliant results !
Window Cleaner Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 PS: have you developed a fetish for posting league tables today?! better that than slagging off the team and the manager
Window Cleaner Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 New contract please will take big money though
sussexsaint Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 will take big money though We will have 90 million at least
captainchris Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Hope the MP slaters, can now ferk off. Well yes but if he picks Fox again I will have major doubts!
Glasgow_Saint Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 will take big money though How much to buy a better keeper though?
Dr Who? Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 They would be brilliant results ! Yeah, I just looked at that, but have us to win 3 on the spin at home, but I think we will be safe by the last game, and maybe draw or lose another at home.... But think we can get enough out of those games overall.
Baird of the land Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Felt absurdly confident of the 3 points against Liverpool given the recent form. Thought they were a team that would be ripe for the taking if we applied ourselves. Very happy to see it come to pass. Hopefully we can push on and guarantee safety.
mitch01 Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Delighted. Chelsea won't have it easy next time out!
DrZuess1979 the 2nd Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Jesus felt quietly confident about this game ,for some reason ( un like qpr game) What a performance !! JRod - was not convinced at the beginning of the season ( what do I know ) Spider - the best central mid in the prem IMO easy Well done saints!!!
Dr Who? Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Also I think after this evenings game, Reading will pretty much be gone! So just the 3rd from bottom place..... ..... So tight. If Wigan only get a point or 2 out of there next 2 home to Newcastle and Norwich, they are gone as well. If they get more....it's anyone, the fixtures are all pretty much the same mixed bag.
Chewy Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 probably an 8 nil spanking for us. No, only 5-0. We just about avoided it. What a fantastic result and performance. Still work to be done to ensure we stay up, but that must give confidence to even the biggest bed wetters.
pap Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 This fixture was huge for me when I lived in Southampton. It takes on extra significance when the missus is a scouser and one of the kids is an LFC fan. I thought we got battered in the away game. Liverpool hit the woodwork twice, iirc - the eventual scoreline really didn't reflect their dominance in the game. There can be no complaints about the scoreline today. Sat and watched the whole spectacle with ms pap, who is now not talking to me. This suits my "**** about for the rest of the day and read glowing appraisals of Saints' performance" agenda quite well. Excellent result, and if I may suggest, perhaps the best illustration of how MP differs from NA. The team had zero respect for Liverpool today, believed in victory from the start and as they often do when everything clicks, made an in-form team look ordinary.

The final paragraph sums it up for me, but we do perhaps need to pay more respect to teams at the bottom of the table! Great result and really surprised me.
Window Cleaner Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 How much to buy a better keeper though? 2 million £...according to Adkins if only he'd got that right from the outset.
Viking Warrior Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Saggy chops on sky what a tosser how the hell we went behind . It's your fault arry lad . He's annoyed saints won . I get the impression he wanted us to drop in the bottom 4
Jimmy_D Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 That felt like a better performance than Man City! First half we were untouchable, 4-0 wouldn't have been unfair at half time.
Doctoroncall Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Yeah, I just looked at that, but have us to win 3 on the spin at home, but I think we will be safe by the last game, and maybe draw or lose another at home.... But think we can get enough out of those games overall. But there again Swansea and Reading away maybe games we can win, so 11 points in 8 games isn't so bad a prediction.
Toomer Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 At home now with a cup of tea great all round performance £34.00 better off had £2.00 on Morgan for first goal at 18-1 paid out £36.00 so just for that he gets my vote for MOM.
trousers Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 On my way back from the game. Had a sense of inevitability when Liverpool got a goal back but a well deserved win in the end. Went with a Liverpool supporter who said we wanted it so much more than Liverpool and that we should have scored 5 or 6. Happy days. Jrod or Boruc my MotM.
OldNick Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 If there's any justice the next England squad will feature Clyne, Shaw, Cork and Lallana. Please no
saintfully Posted 16 March, 2013 Posted 16 March, 2013 Boruc - new hero. Unrestrained gurning expressions whilst Suarez pis.sed him about before his yellow. Special mentions to Clyne, Shaw and Jose for coming on and meeting the challenge. Lallana MOTM because he sometimes takes the pis.s too - albeit with his feet. Wish he could shoot though. Remember when he got his first goals in the championship, long before we got relegated? He could shoot then!
