KelvinsRightGlove Posted 14 March, 2013 Share Posted 14 March, 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21780628 Christ! Looks like Wenger would have some pals if he was on here. First time this has failed to happen in not far off 20 years!! Talk about a knee-jerk. English clubs have dominated over the past decade, much to the annoyance of Blatter & Platini. One poor season hardly makes it the end of the world!
skintsaint Posted 14 March, 2013 Share Posted 14 March, 2013 He said it to make himself feel better. You're right, its been a crap season for English clubs in the CL...but still a number left in the Euro cup. If it happens again next year then maybe...just maybe you can start to question it! Exactly. There must have been, 8ish English finalists since 2005? Can any other nation match that?

Indeed, I wonder how many years of failure it would take to lose our 4th Champions League space...
Turkish Posted 14 March, 2013 Share Posted 14 March, 2013 He's got a point to be fair. How many of you lot have been banging on about how "average" the premier league has been this season? Man United are double digits clear at the top and this side is no where near as good as the United teams of the past, the Arsenal side 00-04 and the Chelsea sides throughout that time. The premier league may have got richer but you cant say the standard of football has improved.

They were just exceptionally unlucky to meet Real in the last 16. That game should have been a final or a semi final really...

I think to some extent other teams have gotten better. I don't think we would be as low down the table with our squad now, in the season we went down. skintsaint Posted 14 March, 2013 Share Posted 14 March, 2013 as said before...maybe its an off year....if it becomes regular then maybe we should be worried?
Crab Lungs Posted 14 March, 2013 Share Posted 14 March, 2013 Nothing to be worried about yet, IMO. That said, I admire everything Wenger has done in the English game but the past two-three years he's just become a completely miserable bastard... and I think that' reflecting on his teams overall seasonal performances tbh.
