Gemmel Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 Can't find anything else about this - Does anyone have any more information; Simon Peach @SimonPeach #SaintsFC captain Adam Lallana has been voted the second best young player in the Premier League by top-flight managers.
sandwichsaint Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 Good grief. The opinions of 'Premier League top-flight managers' versus the collective wisdom of a mongboard? There can only be one winner here surely?
Tokyo-Saint Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 He's 24, does that still count as being young for a footballer?
FMPR Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 So hes better than Sergio Aguero, Eden Hazard and Oscar then?
VectisSaint Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 He's 24, does that still count as being young for a footballer? I heard Ryan Giggs was top
Glasgow_Saint Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 alot of praise need to go to Adkins on this - he really did progress under his leadership imho
alpine_saint Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 Surprising that supposedly intelligent experienced officals have got carried away with the hype.
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 Surprising that supposedly intelligent experienced officals have got carried away with the hype. Surprising you know more than professionals who are paid to know about football in one of the best leagues in the world. I know which opinion I am more likely to listen to.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 So hes better than Sergio Aguero, Eden Hazard and Oscar then? Not our words, the words of the premier league managers and who are we to argue? Plus one of those other donkeys may have come first but let's face it, that place is probably taken by Shaw. Put that in your football manager database and smoke it.
Turkish Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 Turkish's head is exploding somewhere right now. why?
ant Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 We had years of watching Jermaine Wright, Lloyd James, Ryan Smith and co. We have a talented top flight player who has helped drag us up through the leagues and play in the premier league again, making the England squad...and all we get us comments like this. What a fcking shame. Hear, hear. It may be a slightly dubious honour but well done Adam all the same. It would be interesting to see how much more of an impact Lallana could have if we were able to wrap him in cotton wool for a season.
buctootim Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 Its a League Managers Association poll - ie not just the PLM but the other three as well. Perhaps the poll was just about players they had experience of playing against? and more lg1 and CC managers will have teams that played against Lallana than Eden Hazard.

There must be at least 15 players who are younger and better than Lallana, he's pushing 25 FFS. Like Bale,Wilshere, Morgan,Hazard,Sissoko and a shedload of others.
tajjuk Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 There must be at least 15 players who are younger and better than Lallana, he's pushing 25 FFS. Like Bale,Wilshere, Morgan,Hazard,Sissoko and a shedload of others. Bale is flavour of the month no doubt but this really is his first 'top' season, Wilshere has been injured for a long while, Hazard and Sissoko fairly new to the league. All better mind but as someone above said, lower league managers have probably seen a lot of Lallana in the flesh.
Gemmel Posted 12 March, 2013 Author Posted 12 March, 2013 I am guessing, but quite likely that "English" was part of the criteria
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 There must be at least 15 players who are younger and better than Lallana, he's pushing 25 FFS. Like Bale,Wilshere, Morgan,Hazard,Sissoko and a shedload of others. Sissoko? That is a laughable suggestion. He has made 6 domestic appearances for Newcastle. Someone cannot be judged on such a small amount of playing time (despite the nonsense this forum is flooded with). Undoubtedly a very talented player, but premature for such accolades just yet.
max_saints Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 more shockingly, Raheem sterling was top of that poll. granted he made an impact in his first few games but has faded off and was last seen playing against our under 21s
Window Cleaner Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 more shockingly, Raheem Sterling was top of that poll. granted he made an impact in his first few games but has faded off and was last seen playing against our under 21s Rogers saids he's sh@gged out. At least he's a "young player" not one pushing mid-career.
Crab Lungs Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 So hes better than Sergio Aguero, Eden Hazard and Oscar then? Maybe not, but he's better than Liam Walker, Jed Wallace and Ashley Harris.
Delboy Dave Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 Blatently English only players you dumb f*cks!
Window Cleaner Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 (edited) Blatently English only players you dumb f*cks! Better than Wilshere,Cleverley,Ox and Sturridge then, still far fetched. We're talking about a player who regularly fails to score open goals from 10 yds here. Plus he's nigh on 25. Bunch of knobbers voting for something they know sod all about as per usual. Wiggles31 Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 Fair play to Adam. He has been pivotal in our return to the PL. Suprised he came second but for god sake can we not be proud of our own player?! Some on here would moan if they won the lottery. Jesus.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 Fair play to Adam. He has been pivotal in our return to the PL. Suprised he came second but for god sake can we not be proud of our own player?! Some on here would moan if they won the lottery. Jesus. Well said that man ... ... and congratulations Adam. To be rated so very highly by as distinguished a group of voters as this is a feather in his cap that we should all be celebrating.
Saint Garrett Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 Odd thing is if he'd come 10th English player or something id be proud, but you can't help but think it's been voted by morons. Adam is a talented footballer and has played a huge part in our return to the prem, but 2nd best "young" player in the prem?! No chance.
Deano6 Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 Blatently English only players you dumb f*cks! Chelsea's Brazilian playmaker Oscar came third. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2292008/Michael-Laudrup-best-manager-Premier-League.html
redder freak Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 A lot of people on this board won't like this. One for the happy clappy's.
John Boy Saint Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 Steven Nzonzi 5th!! Ths poll must have been conducted at 23:30 in a Stag party venue!! None so queer as folk.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 Blatently English only players you dumb f*cks! Chelsea's Brazilian playmaker Oscar came third. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2292008/Michael-Laudrup-best-manager-Premier-League.html Lol - Dumb f*ck!
dubai_phil Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 So hes better than Sergio Aguero, Eden Hazard and Oscar then? yep, 'fraid so http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2292008/Michael-Laudrup-best-manager-Premier-League.html 18% of the vote Mind you he was 40 points behind the winner.... Raheem Stirling at the pool The other stats are interesting
Saint Garrett Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 NZonzi...very odd. I haven't seen much of him, but can't imagine he sees much of the ball in midfield playing for stoke.
Deano6 Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 Nzonzi also 5th in the best signing category - although bottom of the nominees in both, so may be more of an issue with the people who drew up the short list.
Turkish Posted 12 March, 2013 Posted 12 March, 2013 Lallana isn't even the second best young player at Saints FFS.
ExSt Peter Saint Posted 13 March, 2013 Posted 13 March, 2013 Well as he's captain at Saints people wouldn't even think of him as a young player in our very youthful team. If we were voting for that amongst our players, Luke Shaw would have to be first, with Ward-Prowse next most likely.
alpine_saint Posted 13 March, 2013 Posted 13 March, 2013 Lallana isn't even the second best young player at Saints FFS. Have to agree. Goes woefully absent when a man's performance is needed from him.
Roger Posted 13 March, 2013 Posted 13 March, 2013 Adkins adapted to life in the prem a lot better than Lallana. Was so poor last week it was untrue.

shirleysfc Posted 13 March, 2013 Posted 13 March, 2013 Adkins adapted to life in the prem a lot better than Lallana. Was so poor last week it was untrue. Yep, nearly as bad as Lambert.
Roger Posted 13 March, 2013 Posted 13 March, 2013 Yep, nearly as bad as Lambert. Hilarious only if you watch the game lambert although average by his standards was a lot better than Lallana and also, lambert has proved he can make the level before.
shirleysfc Posted 13 March, 2013 Posted 13 March, 2013 Hilarious only if you watch the game lambert although average by his standards was a lot better than Lallana and also, lambert has proved he can make the level before. Ok, so because he's proved it against some teams it's acceptable when he puts in half a shift against the likes of QPR and Norwich?
