Dalek2003 Posted 12 March, 2013 Share Posted 12 March, 2013 Why do you bother ? IMO you are spot on, but nobody here wants to hear it now because you are just being a troll or a miserable c*nt, and nobody will want to hear your shouts of frustration about seeing it coming over the summer because then you are just being an attention-seeking told-you-so. I've largely given up entering heavy debates on here, because it always goes in the same abusive direction. Here, here. I was lambasted for pointing out our lethargic, complacent and misguided transfer business over the summer.

The Kraken Posted 12 March, 2013 Share Posted 12 March, 2013 Astori? Compared to the pursuit of Ramirez, a half-hearted approach. If we'd have really wanted him and rolled up the red carpet for him as we did with Ramirez (and paid the exorbitant wages and singing fee being demanded) then I think we definitely could have got him. As it was we were never truly in the running.
Saint Garrett Posted 12 March, 2013 Share Posted 12 March, 2013 It was rumoured all along that we wanted a 'marquee' attacking signing. That signing was Gaston. Has he been worth £12m for what he has contributed so far ? No probably not, but he may well do. You take that transfer fee away and the rest of our players were all done on the cheap. Although J-Rod's transfer fee was inflated I bet his wages are relatively low. I also doubt his fee was £6m straight up, it'll all be related with add ons anyway. I've always said we could have done better with what we spent but I also think we could have done much worse.
Olallana Posted 12 March, 2013 Share Posted 12 March, 2013 Absolutely no one has said we didn't have the money, no one. you made that bit up as you're clearly struggling. I can quite easily find quotes like "people will chant Ooohh Gaston Ramirez", a player we have broken the bank for..... Source? The BVI loan thread, (in which you by the way stated for sure that the club was not debt free, but thats not the OP now)

Please stop guessing about the Rodriguez transfer, and appreciate that some people know better than you do about it. It was a £7M deal, largely all up front. Saint Garrett Posted 12 March, 2013 Share Posted 12 March, 2013 (edited) Can't your mates mate who told you Adam Johnson is on £125k a week at Sunderland do some digging for you? £120k. And no, surprisingly he's not mates with Jay Rodriguez as well as Andrew Davies. Edited 12 March, 2013 by Saint Garrett
Barry Sanchez Posted 12 March, 2013 Author Share Posted 12 March, 2013 But we shouldn't have the EXPECTATION that they will be. It takes time. Maya was woeful at Arsenal, Gaston has been in and out and away generally been awful. Clyne and Boruc are first choice because they have little competition, and J-Rod has improved shed loads under MP. Time we didn't have as with the squad we were always going to struggle, do you see now? The light that is of truth?
lloydie Posted 13 March, 2013 Share Posted 13 March, 2013 Loads of promoted teams have been in this scrap before. Noteably from this season Reading who won the league and finished above us last year are now below us. Second point, we are not in the relegation spots currently, so our current situation is just dandy. I will be chuffed if we finish here. End of.
