Sharp to Forest

He's barely played since Davies took over so unconvinced they'll make it permanent despite this article.

He has started one game, that was Davies's first, and he took him off. Has been on the bench since then so hasn't started a game for a month.

Would be surprised if this was true given that.

yes you are right it was. Did his goals not ensure our promotion which was worth £90 odd million over 4 years? so yes blinding bit of business.

quite right wild-saint..

Billy came into that small, but almost unique list of players who played few games but scored invaluable goals ...in the second half of a season.

Well worth the money-even if he never plays again... (if pressed I could probably give you a list to prove it ).

Really why?

IMO....because I don't believe it's in his nature...and besides Forest need Billy more than we do...and so it's a seller's market.

If Billy goes for anything less than his * original fee, there will be a part-ex, or something of the sort.

If I'm wrong, we can discuss it after the deal has been done.

£1 Million! Thought we would of saved an awful lot more as we have spent money on ****e or nothing at all, if we go down will that be classed as good business?

Given that people have been going on and on about the fact we've spent £30m+ on transfers this season, I think to come out with a £1m profit at the end of 6 months is f*cking brilliant! Nicola has done a great job on the financial side of things.

Don't bother Dave, only name required is Jon Forte (aka Jonno Quick).

Jonno was certainly quick in scoring when he came on against MKD and the rest is history. A brief cameo that ended up in a 90 million pay day!

Whatever we paid for JF/JQ he was the bargain of all time ...

Why? We're not getting rid of Jayrod anytime soon and with this useless numpty seemingly a favourite under MP and a regular starter, Billy won't be getting a look-in if he comes back.

Is that the same useless numpty that last year finished on more goals than the worldclass Billy Sharp?

Apples and oranges mate. Not only was Billy not a regular starter last year but provided so much more than just goals. Jayrod does f**k all, not to mention his two league goals were both lucky, one a rebound that fell in his path, the other a strange defender/goalkeeper mixup. Sorry I don't rate the lad, never have, never will and maintain that the £7m we paid for him is one of the biggest farces in this club's history, it's laughable to say the least.

Ok, you are entitled to your opinion...

I for one think that we in two years time will look back thinking those £7m was a bargain.

I don't believe for a second we'd agree to definitely sell any top Championship standard players for as long as we're in danger of being in the Championship next season.

As for the Mirror, have they got anything right yet ?

I think that makes two of us Olallana,

True.Jay Rod took time to settle after the summer, (but he's surely wasn't alone there). Of late, he's looked a totally different player, and just because he hasn't been on the score sheet (not alone there either) it's hard to criticise him because of that.

Rickie is (and rightly so) the key man ...and Jay Rod will need to wait till his time comes before we get a chance to see him perform in the " Rickie-role "

Looking back 10-12 years, I recall that a certain J. Beattie was being touted as a waste of space after his £1 million signing and it took almost three seasons before we saw the " best of Beattie "

in all honesty, the player who most concerns me on the " lack of goals " category is Adam Lallana. I'd join many others in praising his skill and bravery but his goals / shots tally.... must be appalling.

I recall the home game v.Wigan.. .where he had enough shots to win three games.. and yet we lost 0-2.

Criticism of players shouldn't be levelled at the player. He only signs the contract (whether it's a free, or £12 million)... the people to aim comments at are those who scouted / signed them.

As for Billy (this thread is about him - after all ). Looking at last seasons stats.... he DAJFU when it was most needed, and if only for that was worth every penny ..and more.

If he can do the same for Forest .or any other club, he'll be worth the investment. IF we do sell him (as seems likely ) .....hope we get a % of his next sale-on..it might amount to something.

  • 1 month later...

So with Forest's season now over, can Poch now call on Billy's services or is it the case that because we didn't include him in our 25, we can't use now. Or does it depend on whether you've used up your full complement of 25 and can add others, if not? Could do with his poachers instinct at the mo, given our lack of goals in the last 4 games. Mayuka hasn't looked that likely IMO.

Much as I like Billy, fact is he hasn't scored for 3 months, has not even made the starting XI for Forest recently and has only netted 11 times in the Championship this season in total. Technically he may be eligible if MP wanted him, but seems unlikely based on form.

He can't be registered for our squad, but he wouldn't improve it anyway. Not good enough.

Think you'll find that actually he could be, as we have at least one unused place. Unless de Ridder got the only spare place when he returned from Bolton. But its hypothetical anyway, he really is not good enough sadly.

I thought he was supposed to be good enough for the premier league?

he's nothing more than an average championship player - dead wood to us

I don't agree. He only got a brief substitution appearance for us in the Premiership at the beginning of the season so we will never really know, and we certainly can't guess that he would not have made a decent Premiership player on that basis. We do know he was top scorer during the pre-season, and he would have been a darn better player than the disappointing Mayuka, who was unwisely brought in so Sharp had to go. Sharp might be as slow as Lambert, but what a goal poacher he was! He would have not scuffed as many shots as we have done in our last three matches. It's a shame that we never saw him pairing upfront with JayRod who had the pace to provide him the service imho.

Some say he only scored 10 goals last year in the Championship's but he had been out with injury for half the season, and this year he seems to have fallen out with numpty Davis and is not getting starts. He has had a disappointing year (it's a tough game) and I can only wish him well. If we are relegated we would be better off with him in the squad that Mayuka.

Insight is not your strongest suit is it? I'd back Adam Lallana's opinion over yours any day of the week and probably on most things not just Rodriguez. This is the PL by the way of reminder since your fruit bowl appears to be jumbled up!
