Who will go down?

Apart from we were losing every week and shipping goals left right and centre under NA and not looking like getting results. We are playing well and the better side the majority of the time under MP and as long as we can start hitting the back of the net and taking our chances then theres no reason why we should change. If Lallana could hit the target from 10 yards at an open goal we would have won yesterday.

For six out of seven games we've been saying the same thing. Wake up and smell the coffee it is not working! Surely you know the phrase "easier said than done"?

Reading bottom, then QPR, then one of Wigan, Villa, us or one of the teams pundits currently say are safe, like Sunderland or West Ham. Our form is rubbish so I'm tempted to say US, but the Saint in me says it'll be Villa, who have risked a lot on youngsters that haven't delivered consistantly this season.

9 0-0's gives us 37 points. Think that would be enough personally.

Have you also taken into consideration the likelihood of that happening?

Whats your point. It's obviously not going to happen, you said about 0-0s. A point a game will probably keep us up. Atleast our defence isn't a complete sieve like it was under Adkins.

I mentioned waking into the real world which you seem to of missed. My point again is that playing the way we do in our remaining fixtures mean we will concede to better attacking sides and not score enough as we've proved incapable of doing. This leads to losses, which leads to relegation. MP has two choices 1) keep playing the same way and hope luck falls our way (not that it can't, but you know...) OR 2) finally wake up to his horrendous playing style and tactics and realize it is not doing us any good, make drastic changes immediately. Yes the key word there is drastic.

Why would we make drastic changes when we've still got something to lose?! Maybe if we were in QPR's position it would be worth making drastic changes, but we're doing alright and the better side in the majority of the games we are playing in, just not getting the goals, it will come have PATIENCE.

don't bother with him, he's obviously worked himself up into a negative frenzy and sees everything Saints through a depressingly pessimistic prism. Not worth even debating with him if he can't see that we're playing well.

Do you not understand that not taking chances is not necessarily the managers fault. You can make drastic changes, which can jus as easily lead to creating much less chances.

It would be far more concerning if the team was creating nothing.

Now change those damp nappies and man up.

At the moment the 'worse' three sides are Reading / Villa / QPR, QPR have potential to get a bit better, Villa limited opportunity to get better, Reading very little chance of getting better.

Newcastle and Sunderland both look mediocre, Sunderland haven't been very good for a while and their time might have come no obvious signs where they are going to improve. Newcastle have a lot of injuries and Thursday footie to contend with but they do have the players to get out of it.

I don't think Norwich or Wigan will go down, Stoke aren't even in the mix, all three have decent managers and a method that accumulates points. Ditto Saints, injuries are obviously key for us, but we have shown that our first X1 can compete and pick up points, but major question marks over squad depth.

Who will change their teams in the window? Depends who can afford new players AND who can attract new players of the required standard. Would think Newcastle and QPR fit that descriptor and would like to think we will try to strengthen, particularly if we are not cast adrift at that stage.

If I had to pick now I would go for

18 Sunderland

19 Villa

20 Reading

15 Saints!

I'll stick with my prediction from November, it still looks as good as anything else.

Know I just said this on another thread, but am I right in thinking villa and Wigan meet on the last day?

If they are both still in amongst it, this could help us.

Unless both need only a draw to stay up perhaps.

Obviously. We're also going down but that's not necessarily because we're a bad side. ;)

Just a thought, could Sunderland be finding the bad form at the wrong time?. Only got 30 points, need a win a against Norwich next week as they have Man Utd, Chelsea and the derby at Newcastle to follow.

2 draws and 4 defeats from the last six and hardly a tough run of fixtures, QPR, Fulham, West Brom, Arsenal, Reading, Swansea.

We're going down? Based on what?

How long has it been since we were in the bottom 3? Despite us being awful, our manager being useless, our tactics horrendous & our chairman being a baby eating egomaniac.

If all the teams below us are so great, why is it they are still yet to reel us in?

Please inform me of this oh wise oracle.

Two reasons:

1) Joe Hart

2) Gareth Barry

Without the two above reasons EVERYBODY on here would join me in calling MP a useless muppet.

1) that would still make the game 1-1.

2) we would still be 2 points above relegation if we drew, or 1 if we lost.

It's also a silly argument.

IF Gazza didn't drop changers v Norwich & Swansea we'd be 8 points from safety.

If Kelvin didn't drop that cross onto Berba's feet we would have an extra two points and be 6 points clear.

This could go on either way, pretty much infinitely.

I also didn't realise you had become the voice of the saints fan base, I missed that clearly.

They may have overspent on their squad but so have we.

Our wage bill is £28 million, QPR's for this season will be close to £80 million. 6th highest in the league.

Add in their £45 million transfer spend they will have spent over £125 million to be bottom of the league.

why? If they stay up it's because they've deserved to. The same for us if we go down

Surely not? They've thrown money at players in January and played **** all season just to win it now? And we've been a massively respectable team who've played well against giants, everyone loves us... I agree with giving up on football if QPR stay up and we don't. (Jokes obvs, but **** if they do...)

Saints, Reading and Wigan.

I'd put my house on it that we won't stay up.

Said before the season even started that we hadn't brought in enough quality players and that we'll go down. Nothing I've seen of us play so far has changed my mind.

How much is your house worth? I'm really tempted by this bet offer.

I guess i mean we as a club have come along way very quickly, with some of our players (and NC) being along for the whole ride, and having done bloody well in the great scheme of things. Personally I think right now, more than ever is when we need to have some balls and stand together behind the team rather than being so negative. NA was all about together as one... so I think now is the moment to try and be postive and hope that this group of players (who havent let us down so far and have shown great heart) can do the business at this key point. COYR.... I know we are all Saints but some posters have recently been too heavy on the moaning imo.

Fair point. If we do go down, let's not hit the panic button or go into meltdown, but learn from our mistakes and this time plan properly over the summer for the new season.

If we all continue with our current firm from last 8 games, projected points with one game to go...

Stoke 37

West ham 40

Newcastle 46

Norwich 41

Sunderland 38

Saints 35

Aston villa 35

Wigan 30

Reading 33

QPR 33

So everyone continues as per last 8 form we will be two points clear going into last game.

Home to Stoke who will be 2 points ahead!

My season long prediction, and will stick with it... We will be safe before last weekend.

Reckon bottom 3 still most likely

Lol, you hadn't thought that through had you?!

Not one set of fans below would rather their chances to ours

Sorry that was the wrong post about the only reason we are not in bottom 3 i tried to quote

I've been thinking the same. It seems O'Neil is missing his right hand man. They have only a few easy games - Norwich, us and Stoke at home, otherwise some tough fixtures, perhaps Villa away could be seen as an opportunity, but they have been losing some easy games so have the players got a fight in them?

They won't go down with Adam Johnson he is amazing, we should have bought him this summer.

A decent player, not sure how much game time he's had this season and I don't think he's a player that can dig in for a relegation fight but I expect I've missed something in your comment from the way you have phrased it.

qpr last three games are newcastle, arsenal and liverpool, not sure which order, but that is a big ask to get points from,

since start of the season, for some reason ive always thought its been between us and sunderland who will take the third spot, that our away game with them will be the decider

fingers crossed we are triumphant

More than Ramirez, who cost more, has played less, scored less and has less asssits.

I so hope I am wrong, but unless we start picking up a few wins soon then I do fear for our survival. We can write off the next two games against Liverpool and Chelsea and then we face a must-win against Reading. If we were to lose that game, then we would be in serious trouble. Of our last six games, forget Tottenham away - that leaves us to pick up points from West Ham, Swansea (A), West Brom, Sunderland (A) and Stoke. We have to try and get at 12 points from those games or we may just shoot ourselves in the foot. COYS!
