Who will go down?

Going to be very tight, interesting for the neutral. I've said all season I think we will stay up, I still think we will, just. Though I will confess to being more worried now than at any other point.

Fuming about QPR, think twitchy is somehow going pull it off.

I'll plump for reading, Wigan, Villa.

Though I'll probably be wrong.

18. QPR

19. Wigan

20. Reading

Not very creative, but looking at the fixtures, that's how I see it. I can see Sunderland getting sucked right into it, but I don't see the bottom sides making up enough points to catch them. I think 15th-17th will be Villa, Saints and Sunderland in no particular order, and not ahead of 18th by much.

Having looked at the fixtures, QPR will stay up. Wigan/stoke at home plus trips to villa and reading.

we have 5 home games (liverpool/chelsea/wham/wbrom/stoke) and 4 away games (Reading/swansea/spurs/sunderland)

If we can pick up 8 points (2 wins from 3 winable home games and 2 points elsewhere) will leave us on 36 points, a total which I think will keep us up.

Interestingly enough, we're the only one of the 5 down there at the moment who only have 1 of the other lot left to play. Whether that helps us or not, only time will tell

Wigan - are experienced at pulling out of this, and with momentum etc from a cup run, will probably escape

Villa - after yesterday, their next game I think is home to QPR, doubt they will be as obliging as we were against them

So for me its , sad to say, but us, and Reading. Plus one other hopefully QPR.

Perhaps Sunderland, but how long will their dire form continue ? Probably until they play us up there.

I think villa playing qpr next week is really helpful - both have picked up confidence, and one will have it smashed almost immediately. Would like it to be qpr, but think it more likely to be villa. A point does nothing for either.

Oh, and wigans game in hand is at citeh so should be an irrelevance.

I am quite worried for us now. Wigan normally start their top six form about now and the win yesterday could be the beginning of that. Villa and QPR both have a bit of confidence at the moment. Reading are the only ones who i am certain will go down although i am sure we will help them with 3 points in a few weeks.

Reading

Saints

Villa. not in any order.

Hopefully QPR, Reading and Villa but I've got a nasty feeling we may get sucked in.

What will pee a lot of our fans off will be that if we go down a lot of it will have been self inflicted.

Overall we've played some great entertaining football but the failure to address the defence quickly and the inexplicable decision not to play Boruc regularly until half the season had gone may cost us dearly.

We spent on up and coming talent but you need to survive first and foremost and it's in the balance.

Funny (?) thing is that Everton fans said the same thing yesterday morning:rolleyes:

Sorry, I forgot to pick my three,

QPR,

Reading,

Us or Villa

why? If they stay up it's because they've deserved to. The same for us if we go down

No they don't. It's rubbish clubs like this with their massive overspending that is ruining our game. Plus they have a mercenary manager who only does well by spending a billion pounds everywhere he goes, needs about 20 coaches with him because he is actually a thick **** who IMO couldn't manage a **** up in a brewery. QPR are all that's wrong with football.

Reading will finish bottom

Can't decide about the other two spots. I have said all along I think that Wigan will stay up and Villa will go down, but they're not looking in a bad place after yesterdays win. And beginning to think that QPR might sneak out of it. I also think we will stay up. Will certainly be very tight and there will be lots of changes in positions between now and the end of the season.

Will go with:

Saints

Wigan

------------

QPR

Villa

Reading

I honestly don't know other than I don't think Reading will get 6 more points than us.

It is all made worse by the thought of having to watch via stream or, at least, keep an eye on Wigan's midweek games while they play catch up.

They only have 1 game in hand, which is away to Man City. Think we can stop worrying about that one.

Chelsea 0-1 QPR ???

I seriously believe we can stay up, miraculously. Reading, Villa, QPR for me. It will go to the last day with both Wigan and us surviving.

MP still has to go though. Survival won't change my mind about this muppet.

So could most teams last year when their game in hand was against a Man U team cruising for the league title but expected to be prudent as City were increasing their (eventually confirmed) threat. Wigan were also further away from safety than QPR are now...didn't mean much. Around this time last year if I recall correctly too.

Reading for me is the only one ticking the box so far, but hopefully no surprises in their very own Tourmalet of away days at OT and SB. Hopefully Villa will bring a halt to QPR's burst through the table, even if temporary. The 33-group will probably do it the dirty way with scruffy 1-0 wins in the middle of a series of draws. Newcastle will steer away by beating most if not all of the lowly rivals they play against. Wigan will burst to life as usual and get some momentum going to pull away even if it takes them to the last day.

In the end, I think it'll be 2 dreaded places fought between us, Villa, Sunderland, Wigan and QPR. Given our lack of edge, I fear for us under pressure from the need to get results. Hopefully we'll come out alive.

Also, if we go down (knock on wood), I suspect it'll be because of the goals we didn't score, rather than those we may yet concede. It almost always is the case. Just like conceding 4 when scoring 3 wasn't good, 0-0 draws or conceding 8 in 10 games won't see us through.

Saints Reading Wigan, unless we can sort out the final 3rd part of our game we're down. Drastic changes are needed but we don't have depth.

No, we just need to start putting the ball in the back of the net. Drastic changes aren't needed at all.

This is another of those increasing popular threads that pose a question that no one can answer - none bloody knows!

What I do know for sure is that after our first ten games this season, if you had offered me 16th place now, 3 points above the relegation zone with our fate still very much in our own hands ... well I'd had taken that from you in a 'New York Minute' as the saying has it.

As for those Lilly Livered types who are writing our chances off already - get a grip!

This whole idea of 'keep playing the way we do, results will come' is so absurd even Nigel came to terms with how silly it was after WBA that he completely revamped our game and sparked our season into life. If MP does not realize he has to change something based on recent performances then he truly is a muppet and is only taking us in one direction - down.

How are you not a football manager? You're insights are truly dazzling.

Adders didn't really change a great deal post WBA, apart from swapping Fox with Shaw and Corks return to fitness.

I'd suggest this is far from 'drastic', as you put it.

Apart from we were losing every week and shipping goals left right and centre under NA and not looking like getting results. We are playing well and the better side the majority of the time under MP and as long as we can start hitting the back of the net and taking our chances then theres no reason why we should change. If Lallana could hit the target from 10 yards at an open goal we would have won yesterday.

Wigan were superb against Everton yesterday, but like City against us Everton looked like they thought they could just turn up.

I doubt City will be as complacent again but you never know. Wigan seem to range from Woeful to Wonderful. it will be interesting to see whether the FA cup is an inspiration or a distraction to them.

Think Reading are down, they are defending poorly and have some very tough games. QPR have an easier run in but I don't think they can score enough. Villa are still all over the place but have the goals.

We need a point a game I reckon, we have 5 home games, 3 are winnable especially West Ham and Stoke who are two of the worst away teams around. We can beat West Brom at home as well, also Sunderland and Reading are beatable away.

Our hardest game is Spurs away, if we can bring out the Man City game levels we can cause problems against Chelsea and Liverpool.

QPR, Reading and Wigan for me.
