Liverpool Build Up Thread

Think we have a chance against this lot next week. They don't play the long ball so our high pressing game should work. Definitely going to struggle against Suarez though.

Boruc; Clyne Fonte Yoshi Shaw; Cork Morgan; Punch Gaston JRod; Lambert

Davis Forren JWP Davis Guly Lallana Mayuka

I m really worried right now. We really should have had at least 4 pts from the QPR and Norwich games and obviously got just he one. With Liverpool up next and then Chelsea, on paper we should get nothing, making the prev two games all the more important. Now I feel that we are probably more under pressure which in a way may make it easier with regards to expectation but from a fans point view.

Knowing us we will probably get 4pts from the next two games.

Who to play?? No idea now.

Tough game, to be fair to Rogers he has got them playing quite consistently lately and they seem to have a nice balance about them.

Sturridge has made a big difference to their final 3rd play and they have much more cutting edge now, and obviously in Suarez they have one of the best players in Europe. I remember when he hit that hat-trick for Ajax all those years ago at SMS, you could tell he was off to big things!

They do play the same as us though, very rarely do they launch it long. They play in triangles and play neat 1-2's between the likes of Gerrard, Lucas and Allen. Defensively I'd still say they're a bit suspect though, so hopefully we can actually test them with some decent deliveries for a change. (Someone, please, take Gaston to the side and advise that the whole point of a set piece is to beat the first man)

Goes without question that we'll need Clyne back for this one, as his pace will be pretty important as I can see them breaking on us quite a few times. Would pop Maya back at CB alongside Fonte and obviously keep Shaw at LB.

I think the rest of the team I'd keep the same. The attack should cause them problems, but we just need someone else to start popping up consistently scoring goals - and Lallana needs to start hitting shots cleanly!

Won't be easy, but this is one I'd say we can win if we play as we can and Liverpool are slightly off. Quite looking forward to it to be honest.

Constructive comment again from you chewy. I don't think your store is high enough to make too many comments like that LOL

And your 4500 comments of utter sh1te give you more 'store'? You're almost funny. Lets test your theory ... If we lose 5-0 at home to Liverpool I will concede you were right all along ...

I think we will get rolled over on this one. 5-0 to the Pool.

You don't actually like Saints do you mate?

I rarely post but always notice you predict a loss, and slag of the team/management most of the time.

He's just one of the many wums that now run this site. I'd say just ignore them, but it's getting harder as there are so many now.

Struggle to have decent debates here these days. Full of sly/sarcastic comments aimed to catch posters out for ''bites''.

Suarez's movement will cause us so many problems.

It will indeed. He's terrorised defences all season, so won't be any different for us. Best hope is probably to try and goad him to show the ill-discipline that blights his game.

It's why I hardly post mate - you're ignored unless you're views are polarised to the extremes

Dalek doesnt always get the right score, but is spot on (95%) with the outcome i.e saints to W,D,L

Spot on, as in nearly always wrong?

Sorry to say but we are due a downer. Saints 0 Everton 4 and Saints crashing down to reality.

Local game for me, I can't see us getting anything from this game. Norwich 2 Saints 0

I can see us winning this one, a hard game but Saints 2 QPR 0

I think we will struggle against the Geordies. Newcastle 2-0 Saints. Back in the mire.

Man City -Not expecting much from this game. If we can keep our losing margin down to 4 goals, we will have done well.

Wigan - Sorry, but I think we are going to get smacked in the head today. A shambolic 3-0 defeat for the Saints sees us spinning into the bottom 3

We will be lucky to get any thing from this match, in fact I think we will be taught a lesson Manure 7 - Saints 1

Two results correct out of seven is pretty impressive and he was even closer with the scores.

I'd drop Gaston, far too much showboating and plain refuses to play the easy ball. We ballsed up so many opportunities to counter in the second half yesterday by not playing the simple out ball to the right man.

-------------Boruc

Clyne - Fonte - Yoshi - Shaw

--------Cork ---- Morgan

Lallana ---- Davis ---- Rodriguez

------------Lambert

Davis will offer so much more defensively than Ramirez, and is much better at keeping possession and finding a man wearing the same coloured shirt. Lallana will start ahead of Puncheon, although I really can't see what Puncheon has done to be so out of the picture. JWP coming on was a strange one yesterday, we could've done with punch running at them for the last 15 yesterday.

Ramirez was better than Lallana. I think both him and punch are better players. Lallana us a championship player.

It was a prediction I made, not a debate. Anyway, an inform Liverpool could easily put 5 past us.

Well it would be nice if he could rediscovered his goal scoring touch sometime soon, and it's obviously much harder for Adam to reclaim his customary 'best player on the pitch' status considering the standards in this division. But every manager he's played for have consistently selected him when fit.

For what's worth, methinks that's still the right call.

Some strange posts going on here. Lallana a championship player? Come on, as I have posted before he takes time to get back to his best following an injury. Season in season out he is our best player, people are quick to forget how good he as been. If we look back to the first few months he was outstanding and Neville talked about him being possible England player. Losing heavily at home is unlikely. I think we will be up for this and it will be close. Yes we could lose but get a grip people let's have some more confidence in the team.

Lallana decent and has been superb for us. However I just don't really find him effective at this level. His shooting is woeful and he seems to want to do far too much sometimes before he gets the ball in. he also offers very little cover to the full back. I just feel that at the moment Jrod, Gaston and Punch offer more than him.

Exactly four posts it took for this to degenerate into a slanging match, with personal insults thrown in!

One post less than it took a troll to ruin it - it's not possible to have a sensible discussion on here, unless you think a 5-0 home defeat is in the slightest bit likely. I'm not sure we've ever lost at home by that scoreline in the 30+ years I've followed saints.

It has gotten worse as all of the trolls and WUM's now realise they can't survive on their own so have started backing each other up to stop real posters from making a sensible contribution to the forum.

They forget that most of us have more to do in our lives than big ourselves up on an internet forum which is why many of us refuse to be drawn into a pointless argument - another reason why they have started teaming up so they can have someone to talk to in their clearly empty lives.

I suspect I am not alone in not being bothered anymore as it is no fun reading 99 posts of garbage to get to the 1 decent and genuine post.

I will leave the asylum to the lunatics as visiting this forum now diminishes my enjoyment of Saints instead of enhancing it.

Good luck to the rest of you.

Agree it's frustrating and getting difficult to ignore. Mods need to do something about it, because the decent posters will just stop. Can certainly see some people cancelling memberships because of it. It's getting to the point that if you put them all on ignore, there isn't actually that much on here.

I'd drop gaston and go for a front line of

Punch-JRod-Lallana

Lambert.

Still fancy us for our home games.

I'd probably drop al instead, and have lambert behind j-rod. Gaston was pretty good yesterday, and I'd expect there to be more space for him against Liverpool who will want to attack

This but with Punch for Lallana for me. Get the feeling Tino isn't a huge fan of Davis though. He can feel hard done by at the moment. Time to drop Ramirez.

Liverpool will play out from the back so our pressing game could work if the team are on it. I fancy getting something from either this or the Chelsea game.

Hopefully Suarez will get sent off today or injured, Liverpool are about half the team without him.

They are a team in decline, destined for midtable obscurity for the next generation. They have cart horses likes Henderson and Downing who woldnt get anywhere near our team. We sign all the players they want to sign. They have A washed up Steven Gerrard and a goofy, diving racist up front. together with shouldering the weight of expectation of the most deluded fans in the land and its going to be easy. We are on the up and in red hot form compared to the rest of the division. 24 shots at goal yesterday and 21 against QPR is proof of this. I can't see anything other than a landslide victory in one of the most one sided top flight games in the history of association Soccerball.

Not sure how you came to that conclusion.

And Liverpool are hardly a team in decline? Probably the 2nd biggest club in the country, who play some cracking football and have one of the best players in the world in Suarez playing for them as much as I despise the bloke.

We are unstoppable. The Southampton juggernaut is moving into 4th gear. Suarez is over rated, short, weak and lazy. They are struggling and only beat teams below them in the league. We've beaten Man City, they haven't. All together now "you're just a small town in Everton"
