Saint-Armstrong Posted 9 March, 2013 Share Posted 9 March, 2013 Boruc was phenomenal - he saved us the game We should have won that game It was not a penalty, now looking at it on the screens it shows me it is never a penalty at all The ball was heading out We should have had a penalty for a Luke Shaw being fouled at the other end I feel Today we regained our fighting spirit that was missing against QPR When the team has that spirit, we play a lot better and did play well today I think we are on the right path, but we really need to be more clinical The attackers aren't finishing enough right now I think Lambert and Rodriguez have characteristics that compliment eachother, and they have a good future together We have to focus on our own games, we have to win and get results QPR, Aston Villa and Reading have to win their games too to get in front of us But we need to start scoring more and winning more games

The Kraken Posted 9 March, 2013 Share Posted 9 March, 2013 Not much to argue with there. Actually, there is IMO. "Luke Shaw foul". I assume by Snodgrass. Clearly outside the area, and barely any contact (though I think it was just enough for a foul, but not to go to ground). "The ball was heading out". Utterly irrelevant to whether it was a foul inside the area or not. "Lambert and Rodriguez together". I actually couldn't disagree more. And Boruc made an amazing save, really hats off there. But he had little else to do all game; had we lost that game there would be some serious finger-pointing going on right now. Lallana poor, Ramirez poor, our most productive midfielder kept on the bench for all but 5 minutes.

Lambert is too much of a workhorse, does great work but as Lallana cannot score easy goals his work will always go to waste. I'd personally turf Lallana right out of it, put SRL in his place and let JRod be the front man.

Don't get me wrong he's still worth nowhere near £7m, but he's gone from being p*ss-poor under Adkins to being merely mediocre/average under MP. I never said he was great today, just generally over the past several games he's gone from being a league one forward under Adkins to being a championship forward under MP. Still not prem level and I'm not convinced he ever will be. Why we got rid of Billy to replace him with this dross and lose £7m in the process is beyond me. He's got better, I'll obviously agree with that (though it was a fairly low benchmark to begin with). I agree with the rest of your assessment though; £7M plus the £12M for Ramirez was rather wasted IMO. But there we go.

Kind of the point I was making, along with the issue of singing on fees, wages, bonus payments etc. the simple 'we could have bought x instead for the same amount (or in 110 per saints case x +y+ z)' is, and always will be b0llocks. Bless our players for not being able to string a pass together on a terrible pitch. It shouldn't be allowed, really. Our artisans should only be allowed to show their grace on bowling green type pitches. Shame on the Premier League for allowing today's farce to go ahead and make our experts look so average; it's just not on.

You definitely missed the point, apology accepted. My point was: even if the pitch was sh*t, it's no excuse for the various misplaced passes and averageness we saw from some of our players (Lallana and Ramirez especially). And player in the 70s and 80s would have dreamed of playing on a pitch as good as today. Rarely heard them complaining about lack of fatigue and misplaced passes. Or maybe it's the lunatic fans that do ... Sorry, are you suggesting they both played really well? Just so I know; I can't work it out. If Gaston played really well, why was he (according to the commentators I watched) rightly taken off? Why did the radio summary I heard say he played "poorly"? Did MP make an error here? If Ramirez and Lallana massively contributed to setting up 15 chances, the manager must be wrong and so must the commentators for criticising Ramirez's performance? Surely? If you could clarify that, that would be great. I though Ramirez was well below par and so was Lallana; but I'd be happy to to hear the other point of view of how they actually played brilliantly, and I'm just too stupid to appreciate it.
