6 winnable games left for you and I think you only need to win 4 out of the remaining 9 or 3 wins and 2 draws. I think you'll probably win 3 and then maybe cause an upset somewhere along the way. Still think you'll see it out unless one of Villa or QPR go on an incredible run

FFS that was EXCRUCIATING! I may have topped myself if the penalty had gone in. Why can't we put chances away? Why? Why? Someone explain please.

When the shots at goal diagram was displayed all 7 of our shots were straight at the centre of the goal

There you go.

We've never really had a problem scoring over the course of the season, we're starting to look worryingly ineffective though. Deep deep in the mire when we should be pulling away. Decision isn't being justified.

I think the biggest reason for this is we hardly ever get the ball to the byline - whenever we have the ball put wide we always cut inside so defenders know they only have to defend the 18 yard box do can stay compact and don't get spread out enough to create space for the forwards, or and variety in cross angles for defenders to deal with

We are where we are because we deserve to be, down the bottom as we dont have good enough players, the question is why when smaller clubs without our supposed money not only survive but also flourish and also pick up silverware as well.

so, if we stay up, even if it is 17th, is that not success in our first season in the prem?

Good point today, had the chances to win it, need to be more ruthless

That was never a pen as the fat ***** fouled Shaw prior to that anyway!

Great save Boruc. On such incidents seasons turn. Let's hope that's the catalyst for some improvement in the coming weeks.

I too fancy us to get something out of both Liverpool and Chelski......

Glad to get a point at the end.

Boruc is my hero.

Not sure what was worse the ref or the weather.

Last few games we just hav'nt looked like we are going to score, despite having loads of possesion.

I'm looking forward to seeing he Liverpool match next week, where we will need to get some points.

Thought JRod had another cracking game.

I'm a big fan of Jay, but he was poor today. Static and a lack of movement, offered nothing other than some wild unctrolled shots.

Played well, dominated, couldn't score, story of our season really.

Shocking finishing and of all the eight shots we had on target they all bar one went in the centre of the goal according to stream stats.

Spider motm & what puzzles me is the penalty took over 3 minutes to sort out and yet the ref blew up on 93 mins 17 seconds, why?

Good performance to go there and really make Norwich look real poor. If only we could shoot......thought everyone put in a shift today, GR included - conditions weren't the best 2nd half and it showed as both teams grinded to a halt until fatty dived at the end.

Bring on Liverpool - we can do them at SMS.

We did enough to win that. On another day Gastons lob goes in, J-Rod scores at least 1, AL scores into an empty net......OR, Yoshida scores an own goal and we concede a last gasp penalty.

So can't complain about a point really.

AL is not ht eplayer he was though. And some strange subs today.

he is the only player we got that gets to the byline, which on another day could of got us a goal or two. not sure he was poor today, just lacked a bit of composure when finished. Rest of his game was ok at least.

don't see how anyone can argue the penalty call, clear push from shaw. if that were fox this forum would have gone into meltdown. poor poor finishing from both sides exemplified by holts penalty miss. draw was a fair result between two very poor teams in sh!t weather. and I think most of us are running out of patience for ramirez

Quality Boruc but the possession and shot stats show we dominated them. If we go down we won't look back on one game but all of them? Most points dropped from winning positions, should have won so many games but we are the least clinical side in the league.

2 saving tackles from yoshida, instinct of a cb playing at th but poor going forward.

What foes punch have to do to put Ramirez out of the side he is useless.

We made Norwich look very poor, had to rely on some last ditch action from Yoshida and Jos to ensure we didn't pay dearly for profligate finishing. Boruc the hero at the end, justly saving an undesevered Norwich Penalty.

A very good point to get, but it could have been so much better, and that is the key point of contention. Our play today was good but we couldn't have scored in a pre-paid brothel.

On the subject of the refereeing though, about a minute before the penalty there was the clearest foul you could imagine on Yoshi right down in the Norwich corner, right in front of the Lino - yet he flagged for a goal kick. :?

FWIW, I do think there was a slight push from Shaw inside the box but Holt was running away from the goal and went over far too easily. Can see why it was given but if that was Man U it would never have been, you can guarantee it.

Looked totally lost upfront despite numerous chances straight at their keeper every time, can't help feeling we'd be no worse off under Adkins we are certainly no better

Agreed. Bizarre choices today too; Clyne and Puncheon fit enough for the bench but not a run out. Lallana poor throughout but no change, Ramirez should have been taken off far earlier, he's just a wet fanny and a football pitch is no place for a wet fanny (as he's amply demonstrated on more than one occasion this season). Yoshida isnt a right back, and bringing on Guly and JWP towards the end spoke volumes for me.

Dominated posession quite well and thank God for the holy goalie, he got Luke Shaw out of jail; not sure what all the remonstrations were about, it was a foul.

It's odd that some people are saying that we should have won because Norwich were so poor. I think Norwich were poor because we made them look that way. They are above us in the league and the bookies, and probably most of us, had them favourites to win. That they didn't is testimony to the way we outplayed them for most of the game in atrocious conditions. Having said that, I don't know what's happened to our forwards. It used to be that we'd worry about the defence but could be confident that the forwards could outscore the opposition. Still, a point gained rather than 3 points lost, I think.

Actually that was the most effective I have seen him play away from home yet - in the first half anyway. The weather obviously got the better of him in the second half though.

Absolute embarassment, Norwich are so, so poor and we are even worse, a point simply isn't enough. Now watch us go beat Liverpool..

A slightly OTT reaction right there! It was generally an awful game, but it wasn't en embarrassment was it?

Played well but couldn't score. Lallana was poor and shouldn't have started. Gaston stood out first half, but needs to work on his corners, atrocious on the whole today., and tired in the second half despite having a few decent moments. Much better than he has been away from home recently.

Cork and Schneiderlin both fantastic again.

Not sure whats happened up front. We hadn't had a 0-0 since we were in L1 and under Pochettino we've had 2. Lambert was ok, but didn't ever really look like scoring. Been poor since Lallana came back in and took the armband off him.

J-Rod worked his balls off and had some good runs but didn't really look like scoring.

Didn't think Hooiveld played particularly well and thought we missed Clyne.

Yoshi covered well but he's just not a full back.

Our negative subs in the last 10 very nearly cost us. Invited pressure when we were on top.

Villa win, QPR win. Gap closes

Wrong. At the start of the day we were 3 points off the drop zone and now we're 4 off the drop zone.

Keep up.

Yep... phew.

But we deserved to win. Bad day for results around us. We needed 3 points today. Liverpool and Chelsea to come. 1 point out of a possible 9 IMHO and I can't see us contending for another point for two more games. Not looking good for MP. Not looking good at all.

Still at least we have Nigel Adkins on the payroll still for the Championship if it goes wrong! :)

The thing is we didn't deserve to. We should have won, but because we didn't create much despite all the possession, and because when we did create we missed, we didn't deserve to win. This would be ok if it wasn't happening every week.

Clattenburg is a rubbish ref, he had a shocker in the home game against Norwich and his decision making was poor again today. We played a decent game, but nothing more.

Have to say the matchday thread was depressing with certain posters trolling all through game. That brings me to another point, this place is becoming more depressing by the week. I read the forum as I don't live local and like to read reports from people who have been to the games (and some posts some good reports with interesting views) and who have heard news about the club that doesn't get put on the OS. However some (Barry Sanchez, Miltonroader, Dalek, 110 Saint etc) seem to think they have to post their ridiculous comments over and over again until someone reacts to them. Putting them on ignore solves only half the problem as others will quote them.

Rant over.

Back on topic,

Pleased with point we gained, thought we could of had more, but it wasn't to be today. Chelsea and Liverpool next and I can see us getting something from those 2 games, we play better against top clubs than we do against our rivals.

Guly was slated by some on here for his miss vs Stoke, according to the Guly haters it cost us the win so did Lallana's terrible miss today cost us the win?

Awful miss from him but not surprising. He has always been overrated here and I didn't even notice him on the pitch until that miss.

And how poor are Ramirez's corners? Can we ensure that he is never on corner duty again? Another unspectacular performance from our £12 million man.

It isn't a good point, regardless of what happened at the end. Norwich were poor and were there for the taking but we didn't take advantage. Liverpool and Chelsea up next at home.... :scared:

Clattenburg is an utter c*nt. That was an appalling decision. Hats off to Boruc, tho.

if someone said to me explain the referee 25 words or less. this is it....

closer to a gold mdal winning dive than a penalty..... we needed to do better with our chances.

nice save by boruc though

he bombed it down the line and got a cross in a couple of times i thought.

Very difficult for him to use his pace against defenders in such awful conditions today. That has been his best attribute recently so it's no surprise he wasn't as effective today. Needs to work on his shooting though - as does Lallana.

Looking at it objectively, Saints dominated the game and made Norwich look poor. The only thing missing was the end product. Our players just haven't got the quality in front of goal. Clearly, the conditions were awful, and, equally, so was the referee. That was never a penalty in a million years, and MP told him that very politely it would seem. But of course, we are still deep in the mire. Even QPR are catching up. It's going to be squeaky bum time. But, the performance today was good in my opinion, and we should take some encouragement from that. Even Ramirez got his finger out, but Guly was pretty anonymous unfortunately.

The problem with our attack is that our top goalscorer is too easily forced deep or wide to get the ball and as a result spends too much time with his back to goal. All our other attacking players have some combination of poor finishing & poor delivery and often spend too much time faffing about with the ball around the edge of the area allowing opposition defences to organise themselves.

If we do stay up, our attacking options are going to need a serious review if we genuinely want to push further up the table next season.
