Patrick Bateman Posted 7 March, 2013 Share Posted 7 March, 2013 Buckler's Hard Beaulieu (village and motor museum/house/abbey) Brockenhurst Christchurch or further afield the Jurassic Coast Winchester (Cathedral, Round Table etc.) Tudor House (in Southampton - depending where you live, go on the Hythe Ferry) Exbury Gardens The historic dockyard (I know it's down there, but it is the only place I've EVER been there and it's good) Loads of places to take them too. Americans love Oxford - maybe nip on there on the train from Southampton Central/Parkway - direct on Cross Country.
scotty Posted 7 March, 2013 Share Posted 7 March, 2013 My American friend loved Bath and the Cotswolds - Bourton on the Water, Winchester and generally older towns My mrs went on a weekend trip to Bourton on the water last year with my neighbour's mrs, they both came back raving about the place. Redondo Saint Posted 7 March, 2013 Share Posted 7 March, 2013 Took my American Mrs and her Dad to many places but suggest these are always impressive to our 'cousins'; Portsmouth - Victory, dockyard Southampton - old walls Deffo' Tudor House now with WW2 stuff. New Forest Bath Stonehenge Plymouth Jolly Sailor Winchester A lot depend on their age. If they are young you could be fooked!!
cambsaint Posted 7 March, 2013 Share Posted 7 March, 2013 If you do take them to see The Victory and The Mary Rose, and perhaps you should then The Still and West in Old Portsmouth always used to be an excellent place to drink and eat good fish and chips. I last went there a decade or so ago when my late father was still healthy, but it still looks good on Google. When I was at Uni in 1970, we watched The Forrestall come into Portsmouth Harbour while drinking there-Awesome!!
