Where is he, hasn't been in the squad yet???

Oh, really? I don't think anyone has noticed.

And he has been in the squad, just not made an appearance.

Think we've established it was a pointless signing.

Must have got injured on Friday then as was on the training video on Thursday night ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

probably training with some sort of injury. MP said we had Shaw as our main concern injury wise but that there were others not 100%. Clyne looked as if he was nowhere near total fitness as well.

People said that 3 months after we signed Boruc (including me actually).

Forren's only been here 6-7 weeks.

Both Niemi and Svensson had to wait for quite a while to get their chances after being signed. And if you think it's bad to be stuck behind Hooiveld waiting for your chance, Killer didn't get a game until Paul Williams was injured.

No need to judge the signing yet, Those two both worked out well enough.

Williams played very well for us.

Hood up on my Anorak,

Niemi hardly had to wait anytime at all, Lowe had signed him on 23rd August 2002 when Strachan was, I believe, eyeing up some Polish nipper called Boruc. Strachan knew very little about Antti and was a little miffed.

Paul Jones had dropped another clanger or 2 against possibly Derby away so Niemi was brought in for the Charlton match on the 21st September 2002 where he got MOTM probably for the blinding save he was not naturally meant to reach from a free kick heading in at the very top left hand corner of the goal. Just Less than a calendar month after being at the club.

So far with this Forren bloke it seems very strange that he ducked out of the Liverpool trial to sign for us makes me think both him and his agent knew he was faulty goods which a trial would have exposed so opted for the easy option and signed for Saints and their quirky transfer committee.

I look forward to being proved wrong.

Hood down Anorak off.

:p

Injured ?..injured ? Just getting out on the pitch and running around a bit doesn't mean the player is fit ..or, that he isn't still injured.

A lot of players go out and " do a bit" despite not being 100%. (I noticed that 'arry keeps quoting that Bobby Zamora isn't properly fit, but he still comes off the bench from time to time)

When Fonte was out earlier in the season, he looked terrible the first few games back, and Lallana doesn't look upto even it after a recent spell out. Likewise Ramirez doesn't last the whole 90 so often.

Although not my favourite " football expert " - Alan Shearer was quoted sometime ago as saying .." there's a lot of difference between being " fit enough to play " .. and being " match-fit " .

Forran might be short of fitness / injured, but still go to training.

He might not be match fit, but he is certainly not injured.

you might well be correct, but not playing may be down to many other reasons that the manager hasn't shared with us.

I watched the Norwegian compilation of his play downloaded onto U-TUBE ..after he signed, and he definitely looked short of a bit of pace, certainly for the Prem. Hope I'm wrong.

He did look like he positioned himself well though Davie, and had a calm authority about himself.

Positioning and reading the game is his maine features, and those are qualities we are quite short of in defense. Look at QPRs first goal. Fox does EVERYTHING wrong. Fails to fall back when it's obvious that Faurlin will pass it long, fails to put pressure on the man with the ball, fails to stop the ball from going in goal.

Out of interest what position did he play in?

(The forum screams PLEASE let it be Left Back anything is better than Fox)......

It was prob CB which means Maya/Clyne possibly moving around -

Left-sided CB.

He's played what 45 minutes of football in 3 months?

It's essentially like he's turned up in July for the first pre-season freindly last night.

I reckon he'll need another 2-3 games to get sharp.

Well why has it taken him so long to get a game for the Under 21s if he has been in such need of match practice?

Didn't Norway have a winter break, so may have lost a lot of sharpness because of that? Just guessing here.

Their season actually finished in December, so we're probably having to put him through some sort of mini-preseason.

Although I'd have expected to see a bit more of him so far. £4m is a hell of a lot to shell out on a single player, then not play him, when we're just above the relegation zone.

We also could say the same about Mayuka! Now that signing goes deep into the realms of bizarre.

He is nowhere near fit enough for a first team game.

However, his distribution from the back was brilliant - some lovely through balls to midfielders moving 'between the lines'.

Can't ever see him being a quick player anyway and he'll have to rely on his reading of the game more often than not, but we can feel confident that when he has the ball not only will he make the right decision with it he'll also start some attacks for us.

But that high defensive line...

This is more the point surely , he is not suited to the tactic we are currently flogging, hence his absence
