Wiggles31 Posted 3 March, 2013 Share Posted 3 March, 2013 According to the Sunday People. Our most weak position if Shaw is out. Thought MP said he wouldn't be raiding his old club?
Andre Posted 3 March, 2013 Share Posted 3 March, 2013 Don't want anyone to take over from Shaw, I say Targett becomes our back-up LB so we don't have to splash out and buy another benchwarmer.
Avenue Saint Posted 3 March, 2013 Share Posted 3 March, 2013 Definitely need a fit and able ready to go replacement for shaw when unavailable. Danny fox is having such a negative impact whenever he's in the lineup it's almost unreal.
Window Cleaner Posted 3 March, 2013 Share Posted 3 March, 2013 Understandable, if we buy a really good LB we can move Shaw forward into LM where I think he'll do very, very well, just like Bale. Lallana sold off cos he's not the future, don't think he's made the step up at all..

captainchris Posted 3 March, 2013 Share Posted 3 March, 2013 The Sunday people know left back is a huge weekness of ours when shaw is out, opposition fans know, their managers know but we continue to play Fox! We get what we deserve ! It's a scandal that we persevere with a left back that is not up to it... Potty seems to take so long to learn lessons... dubai_phil Posted 3 March, 2013 Share Posted 3 March, 2013 **** off. WC has made a fair point. My beef with AL this season had been that when he gets near the box in a shooting opportunity he needs to take two touches - the chance is gone. We discussed this on Saturday in the pub as it was something he did at Newcastle. Yesterday he did actually let fly without a touch (and the ball screamed away towards the corner flag) JRod in a similar position bang bounce goal. The discussion in the pub was that AL did not do that in the nPc or L1 so why now when he is at a higher level does he feel the need to do it? Is it a confidence issue or a coaching flaw or is he simply not good enough? Start of the season? He was taking 2 touches. Before he got injured he was taking one touch. In the style we are playing (and under NA) Rickie pulls away making space in the box. Need midfielders with composure on the ball who can score goals or make a telling final ball - neither AL nor Puncheon were able to do that yesterday. So WC made a valid point. I also think he is wrong of course
Saint Garrett Posted 3 March, 2013 Share Posted 3 March, 2013 Lallana has been very frustrating this season for me. Talented footballer yes, and great servant for us. But his decision making seems to be a lot lower standard than that he's playing at.

Shaw doesn't seem 100% yet after his injuries.....and of course we want to see our youngsters coming on, but it's hardly the time to debut a youngster when we are struggling to keep a clean sheet. If we were mid-table and wanted to experiment - then OK, but we need experience.....Does anyone know if Alvarez is OOC and able to sign now ..or ? Andre Posted 3 March, 2013 Share Posted 3 March, 2013 Either way, it's not the ****ing transfer window anyway, so it makes no difference. We've got to make do.
UpweySaint Posted 3 March, 2013 Share Posted 3 March, 2013 Targett was training was the first team this week, don't be too surprised to see him on the bench if Shaw isnt fit.
Andre Posted 3 March, 2013 Share Posted 3 March, 2013 I mean... even Yoshida or Clyne is better at LB, with Hooiveld at CB or Richardson at RB respectively, than having Fox in the team, surely? Although then it leaves us weaker in the centre, as Yoshi has been brilliant, and I guess that's more important.

Window Cleaner Posted 3 March, 2013 Share Posted 3 March, 2013 surely ANYONE can sign at any time (regardless of the window) - if they're OOC ?....Boruc did. Indeed, as long as we have space in our 25 (which I think we do) we can sign unattached players at any point. Think the FA takes a dim view of players becoming suddenly "unattached" by mutual consent though.

patred44 Posted 3 March, 2013 Share Posted 3 March, 2013 but he is not unattached, he has a contract until June2013..he can talk to us, he can even sign a precontractrual contract..but he can't come here till the end of June. note..he has not been able to get into the first team since Poncho got fired..and even then he had only made 14 appearances including 8 times as sub. There when Franny scored Posted 3 March, 2013 Share Posted 3 March, 2013 For all the hatred and bile aimed at Fox, I thought Shaw was very poor when he came on, both going forward and defending, and it was his fault for the second goal, not Yoshida. Maybe we should have switched to Frazer-Clyne after Fox went off but Clyne looked about a quarter fit as well. Think it was all hands to the pumps yesterday, too many ongoing injuries being carried over from game to game.

Sorry I keep making the same point but he clearly was not match fit. He had taken a knock, he was a doubt and he didnt look 100%. True though he was culpable for the second goal. IOWSaintDaz Posted 3 March, 2013 Share Posted 3 March, 2013 I'd be concerned about the RB position if I were Mo Po as Clyne has looked awful in the last 2 games, If we go after a replacement LB then Shaw will be leaving the club for certain, Fox was played yesterday only because he was not 100%

For me Richardson would only get a start if Clyne and Cork both had 2 broken legs and then it would be a 50/50 decision. Our squad depth is poor, we seem to be reliant on the same group of players for every game 100% or not. These are young players and they must be getting pretty sh@gged out by now. We are paying the price for the brilliant performances from Boxing Day onward.

We are paying the price for the brilliant performances from Boxing Day onward. It shouldn't really be a problem. We only seem to play a few games each month this season. Personally I don't think Richardson is all that vadodara and he is better than Clyne at bombing onto the bye-line to wip in crosses to Lambert. Regarding left back, we do have a problem - do we buy a new first choice LB, and allow Shaw to develop slowly. Or try and find someone better than Fox, but is happy to be an under-study to a 17 year old kid. Can't think there are too many players that fit into that bracket. Wiggles31 Posted 3 March, 2013 Author Share Posted 3 March, 2013 I think we need to all remember Shaw is only 17. We don't want to burn him out and he has already had a couple I knocks so we do need to be careful. Fox ain't good enough and it was his atrocious positioning once again allowing Remy to get goal side for their first. First position we need to fill in the summer nonaggression which league we are in.
UpweySaint Posted 3 March, 2013 Share Posted 3 March, 2013 What's frazer done wrong? Looked perfectly competent when called upon this season for me at least as competent as others in the squad. Arguably Clyne is a v exciting talent but I wouldn't be concerned seeing Frazer on the teamsheet.
