I like your optimism :)

Quick question (unrelated to above) did you guys watch the QPR game?

Yup. I also watched the Man City game. One result doesnt suddenly make us a sh!t side. And they have very little pace and thats what seems to hurt us the most. I don't think they're great despite being a very hardworking side. All comes down to whether we take our chances or not.

i have a gut feeling for a 2-0 win. i also had a gut feeling we would lose against QPR so hopefully my gut instinct proves correct again. however if we play lallana, puncheon and ramirez behind lambert we wont win. need jrod in there to offer pace and make those runs into the channel to free up lambert.

boruc

clyne

fonte

yoshida

shaw

cork

morgan

puncheon

lallana

jrod

lambert

subs - davis, richardson, forren, davis, ramirez, rowe, mayuka

No defenders or the two midfielders likely to sit in front of them (Cork or Schneiderlin) in the clip. May be fair to assume the majority of their work this week has been away from the rest of the group and been pretty intense...

thought I saw Cork in the gaggle of midfielders and attackers, not Davis though so could be nothing.

When is press conf. for this game?

Today.

Lallana trained as have all other injured players.

@SouthamptonFC: Pochettino: "I try to analyse things objectively, and I think the team has deserved more than one win from these last six games." #saintsfc

@SouthamptonFC: Pochettino: "For me, the @premierleague is one of the most competitive leagues in the world. I'd never underestimate it." #saintsfc

@SouthamptonFC: MP: "There's a reality in front of us in terms of the points we have. We need as many as possible to avoid a relegation fight." #saintsfc

@SouthamptonFC: MP: "The team can play good and attractive football, and the closest way to getting more victories is on the path that we're on." #saintsfc

I actually went Glasgow and believe me you I was so optimistic it was flooding from my ears. My nipper however said he had a 'bad feeling about this one'. We lost didn't we?

http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/article/165/8544492/norwich-value-on-crunch-saturday

When I began researching this game, I did so expecting to confirm a suspicion that the prices are correct in making Norwich marginal favourites in a hard-to-call contest on the grounds that they're at home. However, closer inspection reveals information which I think makes the hosts worth a good bet at close to 6/4. For all the praise Southampton have received both before and since the departure of Nigel Adkins, they're won just two of their last 13 games in all competitions.

That one of those was a superb 3-1 dismissal of current Premier League title holders Manchester City explains the media admiration for a side whose overall form doesn't entitle them to be just 2/1 to win at Norwich. Of particular concern to supporters must be Saturday's defeat to QPR, but the concession of four goals to Newcastle prior to that also rates a worry and Norwich have enough about them to contain easy-on-the-eye Southampton before pouncing for three points. The Canaries have played 11 Premier League games at Carrow Road since losing 5-2 to Liverpool in September, and they've won six of them.

Yes, most came during a fine winter run but a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Everton last time could provide the platform for another. In addition, even when they've failed to win Norwich have still impressed, with narrow defeats to the likes of Chelsea and Man City plus a draw with Spurs. Put simply, over the last three months if you'd backed Norwich in games like this you'd be well in front and there's no reason not to do so at the price.

Verdict: Norwich 2 Southampton 0

A return for Davis in place of Ramirez is a no-brainer for me. Hopefully Shaw will be back to full fitness; we need a fox-less 90 minutes.

For the back four, I hope Hooiveld isn't out for too long. Yoshida and Jos had built a good partnership, Jos's bravery ahead of Fonte's culture would have served us well last saturday, I can see Norwich playing in a similar style, trying to pick us off on the break.

A point would be valuable, a win utterly sensational. I predict 1-1.

Hooiveld should be in for Yoshida if anyone.

Maybe we shouldn't be favourites to win on our current form, but by that same form, I certainly wouldn't rate Norwich as having enough to contain us to nil.

You do realize very very few fans share that sentiment don't you? He's not extraordinary, certainly not world class, but a fine, solid, dependable, premier league level centre half.

I could say the same to you.

If you think Yoshida is a fine centre half, I fear for you, you're just on an wind up anyway.

is holt out for this one? was expecting the main board to be flooded with threads comparing him with our rickie as is customary before a Norwich game

anyway am predicting us to go in front in the first ten minutes before we suffer our fade out and concede just before half time. dominate for large periods during the second half before inevitably conceding an unlucky goal in the last ten minutes. story of our season. boruc clyne yoshi fonte shaw in defense, Morgan and cork sitting in front of them and rickie up top. as for the attacking 3 behind rickie, have no idea who to play as they continue to blow hot and cold throughout games. 2-1 norwich

No point, Lambert is far better.

Can't see past a home win, this is the 3 points that will all but see Norwich safe probably - they'll be well up for it. We struggled against 'so called' shyte QPR last time out - so can't see us going to Carrow Road and getting anything.

Then I must be on a wind up too. Yoshida has been excellent for us this year, really grown into his role well. Not a perfect defender but my first name at centre back.

Lightweight, poor distribution for me.

But hey, ho, i'd love to be proved wrong from now.

You're kind of seeing the same player as me. I think he's got better and has grown into the side, but his game I feel will always have some pretty big flaws - i.e physicality and distribution.

In terms of Reading the game he's probably the best we've got, but IMO he's someone we need to upgrade on in the summer if we want to really push on. (obviously, dependent if we stay up)

Pretty much this.

He looks fine sometimes, but looks very fragile a fair amount of the time too.
