Too good to go down

We are not too good to go down. Same as when HR took over in Prem and everyone said the same.

We are now deep trouble.

Today was crap, pedestrian, casual, predictable. Just like our manager on the touchline. No passion whatsoever.

We just floated balls in their half, why?

We were so weak today.

On that display, we are good to go down.

Sort it.

I don't really understand why anybody actually thought that we were too good to go down - we've been scraping around the bottom of the league all season. No change to the last 10 years that we last spent in the Premier League.

I'm sensing 5 replies along the lines of "obvious troll is obvious" before this thread gets locked. Sorry mate it's the way the forum is these days.

Difference. You post anything and everything negative to get a response. Here you go enjoy the limelight.

We have lost a game at home in the Premier League, end of. We had an off day, but every does at some point, where just nothing works for you and works perfectly for the opposition. The fact that it is QPR, a side below us in the table, and Harry is the manager, makes it feel that much worse. 3 weeks ago we were saying how good everything was, but this is football and it changes so quickly and there is really no point in being negative about things.

As Nigel would say, draw a blue line under it and move onto the next one.

Not sure what ten years you mean as but we weren't involved in a relegation tussle between the 1998 great escape and our relegation under Droopy six seasons later. Between those points solid mid table.

Until the Luggy/Wiggers/Droopy debacle we had become an established mid table team. It's only under the Cortese regime where we have reverted to our early/mid nineties role of being perrennial relegation strugglers.

Perrennial relegation strugllers under Cortese?

This is after all our first season back after a double promotion. Three and a half years ago when Cortese came in we had a team that probably just about matched Pompeys current one, Two and a half years years ago we had at best a mid table championship team in league 1 today we have the makings of a future Premiership team. We are in the process of building a solid team and it is not unnatural to stuggle first season back after two rapid promotions. Keep the faith there are worse teams than us in this league and we will only improve!

That news paper article about QPR in Dubai seemed to have the opposite effect that many on here thought. Seemed to me they were fired up to prove a point.

I'm convinced we'll beat Norwich next week, its the Liverpool game that worries me.

I don't think all that many SFC fans will wake up this morning thinking that we're 'too good to go down' - any that do think that need to take a reality check methinks. But as desperately mediocre as we certainly were yesterday, it is also manifestly true that we can - on our day - play some pretty good football too.

I'm as bitterly disappointed as any on here that the truth is that we are just not consistently good enough to pull away from the relegation zone. However as long as we bring our 'A' game to the party, then we can still hope that we have a decent chance of survival - only time can tell of course.

I think the true reason we're suffering now is not because of our current form, but rather because we were so disastrously unprepared for the demands of this division when the season commenced. We may, or may not, get away with it this time, but surely the next time we waste large amounts of money on players who fail to justify that level of expenditure, or even worse, retain too many lower league players while spending good money on signings who are not even considered good enough to force their way into the first team ... well we're bound to pay the ultimate price for those errors aren't we.

"Too good to go down" is a nonsense expression !

Generally speaking, teams that play better football will get better results over a season, however, three teams will be relegated come what may and they will be less good than the others !

Effective football comes in different guises, some (WHU, Stoke?) play direct, others (Swansea, WBA ?) a neat passing game, but eventually those who are least effective will go down !

Not rocket science !!

I actually think we will do well there. Liverpool play a passing game and so we will know how to pressure them. Long-balls forward to Lambert could also prove more effective as Lambert is bigger than Agger and may only have to scrap with Srktel.

And if the QPR defeat has something good to it is that the players have now put themselves under pressure to perform and so I believe we will be highly motivated for this one and Chelsea regardless of the Norwich result.

These days? Do you miss the good old days? How far back are we going? Jan? Maybe even December? Which was your favourite good old day?

Before we get too carried away, yesterday's other results went our way - Reading losing 3-1 and Wigan 4-0. If Villa slip up tomorrow we will not be any closer to the relegation zone than before the week-end.

QPR played us well yesterday, they sat back, invited us on and we couldn't do much in their box (or just outside it) to create more than one goal. They were clearly happy to leave with a point, but as soon as they scored I think they realised that they might even leave with all 3.

We need to put this game behind us and concentrate on our next game!

Harry was playing mind games saying that.. He hopes we think that so come complacent for the last 10 games.

It was crap performance against a team fighting for their lives. It's not the first time we have come unstuck against a physical bottom of the league team.

That last sentence might be one of the most pathetic you have made the last few months, and God knows there is competition for that spot.....

The league position doesn't lie!!!

It's all about scoring goals not how you play!!!!!!

On the day it's eleven versus eleven!!!!!!!!!!

We're only as good as our last game!!!!!!!!!!!!
