SAINTS 1 QPR 2 >> Reaction

Looked like it was going to be a 3 or 4 nil win after 20 mins. It would have been an easy win if saints had got a goal then

We got our goal out of nothing and then the crowd were silent for the rest of the game bar the minute after the goal. not a relegation 6 pointer atmosphere at all.

Samba was MOTM for me, he had Lambert in his pocket all game.

And like clockwork, out of the woodwork you come.

Swansea showed how to play through QPR...we wellied up in the air upto the man mountain Samba...nice. Play round him on the floor and he turns like a oil tanker.

Unlike Swansea, we have no pace in the team to do that - Jrod showed a bit of mobility but it was the exception.

Gutted about today, the team looked disjointed, too much passing the ball and going nowhere, but looking at the table newcastle and sunderland still in our sites, norwhich and w ham not much better off. think relegation still involves 7 - 8 teams.

Pinocchio was the name given by the Espanyol fans......... Its not an insult, just his nickname in Spain

I am good with that. It just seemed a bit insulting without it being put in to that context.

Also apologies to Chewy for having a rational balanced view.

Ok im not going to go overboard but it seems like the manager has no plan b.

Im not saying he wont eventually come up with one and his managerial talent may be wonderful but look how long it took NA to start getting the tactical balance right for the opposition?

Surely today is the kind of thing that points out the terrible timing of replacing the manager at such a crucial point of the season?

I know it's very easy to talk in hypatheticals but, in my opinion, we would have been better off points wise with NA still in charge. If he wasnt going to be NC's man going forward post season would've been the time, give Poch time to deal with this kind of stuff.

Fonte just gone on about how we dominated the game. Well we dominated possession Jose but we didn't look like scoring for the entire second half.

We have lost the cutting edge we had under Adkins. The blade's not as sharp any more, for all the positives of the pressing game etc.

What happened to our short pass and move game? Playing in little triangles - looks as though that has been completely abandoned???

What happened to - don't make a pass unless you are sure it will reach our player - caress the ball???? Big Sam is the king at what we tried to do today so why didn't we make a bid for him to come and manage here if this is the direction we moving in??

We had no plan B under Adkins. Snuff Lambert out and we're in trouble. Today was almost a carbon copy of the Sunderland performance and result.

I don't understand how we've gone back to playing the way we did at the beginning of the season, I thought those days were behind us. That peculiar game at Newcastle knocked all the confidence out of the team, today's outcome was so predictable, we never looked like scoring and when QPR got the odd chance they were always going to take it. The pressing game that got so much praise after Man City has alerted other teams and it's so easy to counter it.

Start of the season, true. But we had looked to have turned a corner (for the most part!) before NA was sacked, agreed?

Lambert drifted and interchanged well with Punch and Al to create space with clyne and shaw getting beyond defenders.

I posted in the post match thread in the game we lost at LR. I would have posted today no matter what. Check yourself if you dont believe me.

You'll still go down. Whether we join you is open to debate.

Poor result but thankfully it hasn't cost us too much, besides West Ham winning. We need to sort this out - relegation is a very real possibility, it has been all season, so let's get survival out of the way before we start looking at "10th place" as a recent thread had it. I said in the pre-match thread I was nervous about this game and so it proved. It will give us an almighty kick up the arse - but that's effectively one of our easiest games gone by with a defeat.

Would I have taken a point before the game? No, the win was gettable. I'd have taken it on 80 minutes though!

Still, I'd rather our position than QPR's...

It annoys me when people get on Fox's back all the time, but he was f*cking sh!t today. Constantly out of position and leaving players unmarked. Rickie, Gaston, Cork, Punch and Morgan all had to fill in for him when he got caught out by going for a wander. F*cking get rid.

Not sure - Sunderland did a job on Lambert and the rest of the team stuttered. Doesnt matter who's in charge - we go hot and cold depending on Lambert's performance. Can you think of a time we played well when Lambert wasn't getting joy whether under NA or MP?

Go to the qpr forum and I bet they're all creaming themselves over Samba's performance rather than any other aspect of the game.

Team selection was appalling considering Fonté was back. Didn't even have decent backups on the bench. Rarely seen Riiky and some others making such poor passing. I can't see this experiment going much further. Reid has a lot to answer for, as he's be the one responsible for bringing Pochettino over. He was over in Barcelona on several occasions last summer. At the time we thought he was scouting players. Obviously not. Saints will never be a force in football until we bring in someone of less dubious experience and achievements.

Gutted after realising that Pochettino hasn't a clue :(

If it is any consolation, it seems as if Wigan are going to get thrashed (barring a second half liverpool collapse0, so that will get us off the hook for another week. Still 3 points above the relegation zone.

Still got to hope Villa lose as well.

True we often rely on Lambert but we have had good games without him on form.

Either way I had/have more faith that NA could've turned todays result around then MP.

Sure QPR were effective at what they did and Samba should've meant us playing a different game ... either way cant help but feel we've gone backwards.

We were poor overall but Boruc only touched the ball with his hands twice when he picked them out of the net so it was a bit of a freaky result - ultimately two mistakes cost us badly and as much as it grates me to say it, Bagpuss got his tactics right to negate us

If Lambert is that easily marked out of a game I don't want to see him anywhere near an England shirt.

Rodriguez was easily our best player when he came on. Schneiderlin had his usual outstanding tackles, but passing was way off from him and the rest of the midfield.

Beating the Champions of England doesn't guarantee safety and losing to the bottom of the league doesn't guarantee relegation. I'm a long way off bedwetting yet.

Did you see the way we came out second half after half-time? It was like we were just going to walk it and QPR would lie down

Rubbish tactics, JWP a holding midfielder when 1-2 down why not Davis who has looked decent lately?

Jay Rods pace against Hill and Samba yet he stays out wide left...why not start him against 2 of the slowest defenders in the Prem...shocking day at the office for the manager and his team of assistants.

Peed off, but livid? No, been a fan for too many years to go mental about us messing up - it's always happened and probably always will.

And ... When the seasons ended we will be staying up and qpr won't.

This and I was saying it before the jan window that we need a quality foward to help Ricky, someone that takes at least 60 / 70 % of his chances.

We were pedestrian at times and the players looked tired. This MP fella obviously has no Plan B, and furthermore doesn't even know what his best team is. Oh for the love of Nigel! At least when we are back in the Championship we will have JRod and Billy up front. Filling the other 9 positions will keep Cortese busy. Serves him right.

Bad day at the office, Fox utter ****e why we continue to play him god knows clearly isn't capable of playing football at this level. Ramirez gives the ball away way to much passing needs to step up and his crossing ability is awful. Rickie Lambert was ineffective today was marked out of the game. Puncheon hardly had a look in the whole pressing tactic we are playing at the moment is leaving us terribly exposed at the back when we go forward teams are starting to suss us out.

Positives from today J Rod look bright when he came on and showed good pace and movement
