A decent pair of Italian leather brogues, fitted suit and tailored shirt and then ruins the whole effect by wearing a bench jacket over the top. Surely he should go for a dark grey or black double button number if he wants to be taken seriously as a top coach. I can't ever remember seeing mourinho, guardiola or Mancini in a bench coat. If he is serious about his ambitions he needs to express this in his choice of touch line clobber. What's the verdict saintsweb style gurus?

Wenger has obviously spoilt the look.

As for Pochettino, he should go the whole hog. Raid the Saintsfc store for all it's worth, only wear club merchandise. Live the brand, live the club. Saints bedding and lunchboxes, even branded pencil sharpeners. If he wants to be taken seriously in his attempts to adapt to life in england he must not leave any item untouched.

And yes, I even include the branded golf tees.

Good thread actually Turkish. What are peoples opinions on what a manager should wear on the touchline?

For me its a sharp suit and club tie. He's a manager and needs to put himself above his players, a good suit gives an air of authority. Managers that wear training gear look like coaches imo, and lower themselves to a matey level. And then there was Cloughie...

Its probably because the players have started high-fiving and embracing the manager and assistant when they score. You wouldn't want your favourite Armani ruined by grass stains and sweat, would you. And thats without even thinking about Punch ;)

It does ruin the look. For someone who dresses properly, it makes him come over a bit, well, Kingsland stand.

Personally I think he should sport a retro Mille Miglia.

I'd love to see a manager in one of those!! We may need to appoint Paulo Di Canio to fullfill this dream though.

I'd go for lederhosens and striped red and white pom pom hat. Not that I'd like it or anything, just think it would make him stand out as our Manager.

He should drop coat but adopt shorts like Owen Coyle. Get the respect in the same way I look on in awe when I see a 50 something estate kid in Tescos bearing his legs when it is two degrees outside.

Is Coyle still favourite to be next Arsenal manager btw?

I am so glad someone has brought up. Its been bothering me for a while. Generally his clothes arent bad Ive seen him in Smedley for casual and his suits arent bad. I think a genuine Crombie would complete the look.
