S-Clarke Posted 1 March, 2013 Posted 1 March, 2013 Ah, didn't expect this - so good news. I think in the long-term we will upgrade on Puncheon, but he's been pretty important for us this year and over the next 4 seasons will remain a valuable member of the squad I imagine.
Islander Posted 1 March, 2013 Posted 1 March, 2013 @SouthamptonFC: Punch: "It's a weight off my mind, so now I can look to the long-term future..... Not the first time he's said that recently.
SuperSAINT Posted 1 March, 2013 Posted 1 March, 2013 Ah, didn't expect this - so good news. I think in the long-term we will upgrade on Puncheon, but he's been pretty important for us this year and over the next 4 seasons will remain a valuable member of the squad I imagine. Agreed. His versatility is quite useful.
eelpie Posted 1 March, 2013 Posted 1 March, 2013 Outstanding news. I have always believed in Jason and his ability. Unlike the majority I was able to understand what he was going thru and his struggle with his demons and necessity to achieve and prove his football talent. I can only rejoice and celebrate that he's gone out and proved his worst enemies wrong. He can only get better and better This. It was beginning to look like we were going to lose Punch, so it''s like a new signing. He has been a very important team member this season.
lordswoodsaints Posted 1 March, 2013 Posted 1 March, 2013 Great news, really pleased that the boy has turned his life around and the club has recognized it and rewarded him.
ottery st mary Posted 1 March, 2013 Posted 1 March, 2013 Very good news.. Personally think he has a lot more to come and will produce many more top class displays.. Punch set them alight tomorrow..
mitch01 Posted 1 March, 2013 Posted 1 March, 2013 He has put in some great performances this season, but I'm still not sure that he is the long-term solution for our right wing. Would be delighted to be proven wrong, just as he has proven me wrong this season so far, but he and Davis are the two players in our first team who I still have reservations about. Definitely deserves his chance with this new contract though.
BlakeySFC Posted 1 March, 2013 Posted 1 March, 2013 (edited) Never realised till recently that many players wear diapers to deal with calls of nature. Guess he'll also have an "addon" clause to receve red and white striped diapers before each game, You mean Red and White Nappies? If you're British/English, use English words. If you're American/Canadian fair enough. Edited 1 March, 2013 by BlakeySFC
Viking Warrior Posted 1 March, 2013 Posted 1 March, 2013 I remember all the negativity about punch just goes to show that players can be great servants of the club . Gascons the next on the conveyor belt
angelman Posted 1 March, 2013 Posted 1 March, 2013 Glad that he seems to be on the straight and narrow. It was so close to all going wrong, and it's nice to see that people take on board "pride before a fall" and sort out their differences. I've been really impressed with him this season and it's a "shame" that the midfield is a little crowded now and he might not start.
Saint Garrett Posted 1 March, 2013 Posted 1 March, 2013 Just hope now he's got his contract he doesn't do a 'saga' on us. Got a big part to play for us over the next few weeks. Probably our best wide option at the moment
pingwing Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 So long as my "sort those horrible teeth out" clause was in he can stay.
Ohio Saint Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 I don't think his attitude will change with his new job security. That aspect seemed pretty darned low on his agenda in the past, why would that change now? I totally respect how he changed things around for himself, and I don't believe for a second that he is motivated by stabalizing influences. I think he will improve even more.
Under Weststand Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 Well a year ago I would have been happy if he'd left, but hats off to Puncheon for this amazing turn around. He seems to have suddenly realised he needed to buckle down, changed his attitude & become a very good team player. Good news he's signed a new deal today. Just need a goal or two to celebrate tomorrow please Jason.
Dig Dig Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 did he sign the contract in his jeans? Yea with his hands in his pockets FFS
Dig Dig Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 He's got the contract. Time to relaaaaaax! Looks to me that his poor attitude has returned after the comfort of a 3 year deal. Instead of going to the gym to do extra work which would benefit the high press, he's straight on COD. Pochettino should have him train with the kids and loan him to Blackpool or someone for a while.

I think in the long-term we will upgrade on Puncheon, but he's been pretty important for us this year and over the next 4 seasons will remain a valuable member of the squad I imagine. Even if we do replace him, he's worth a fair bit now so we can make a decent amount of money selling him on.

Isn't that battlefield 3?
ottery st mary Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 Come on Punch....Top game today and a couple of goals to celebrate.. COYS
eelpie Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 So long as my "sort those horrible teeth out" clause was in he can stay. No, they frighten the pants off the opposition. He should laugh more often when he surges towards goal.
eelpie Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 He's got the contract. Time to relaaaaaax! Is that the new Saints logo he's wearing?
Window Cleaner Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 hutch jr. says it's black ops 2, whatever that is. do they have halftime in black ops nowadays then. Typical
sotonist Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 He's got the contract. Time to relaaaaaax! maybe he can afford some cable management now. seriously.
david in sweden Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 Superb news and full credit to him for pulling himself back from the edge, took a lot of guts and I admire him for that. AGREED ..and perhaps a few more goals will convince everyone it was a good decision.
RobM Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 Looks to me that his poor attitude has returned after the comfort of a 3 year deal. Instead of going to the gym to do extra work which would benefit the high press, he's straight on COD. Pochettino should have him train with the kids and loan him to Blackpool or someone for a while. Not only that, he's so lazy and unmotivated he hasn't bothered to take the tag off his new chair. Unacceptable.
Edmonton Saint Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 Waste of money giving Treacle toes a new contract. Lacks pace, lacks composure and lacks a footballing brain. Their has to be a better RM than Puncheon next season.
Sheaf Saint Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 Today's performance reminds me of how Saganowski looked brilliant up until he got a permanent contract then couldn't be bothered to turn up afterwards.
S-Clarke Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 Let's hope today's performance isn't a sign of what's to come. He was absolutely horrific.
Wiggles31 Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 To single him out is harsh in a performance where everyone was god awful.
S-Clarke Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 To single him out is harsh in a performance where everyone was god awful. Fair point. Even Lambert was a disaster today. I feel the breath of Roger on my neck already...
dubai_phil Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 Such a Saga show. Not helped by SRL being owned by Samba. But very poor and very worrying.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 Negative: very poor today Positive: cant play that bad again
david in sweden Posted 2 March, 2013 Posted 2 March, 2013 I really didn't expect him to be offered a new contract as I thought they had " someone " else up their sleeve for next season. JP has been almost invisible in some recent games. At the tail end of last year he was playing wide on the right, but now he seems to have dropped deeper and hardly get a touch.
