brmbrm Posted 1 March, 2013 Share Posted 1 March, 2013 Yes, good read. (Bascially footy is not a business - its more than that. Oh well)

We conceded and we could not score.... and were vulnerable to counter attacks" - sounds familiar! BUT, taking the article as a whole, an interesting and overall encouraging read
Olallana Posted 1 March, 2013 Share Posted 1 March, 2013 Good read but I dont agree that Cortese has not shown patience with former managers, but that´s my opnion...
torsaint Posted 1 March, 2013 Share Posted 1 March, 2013 Not really enough to suggest he is a top manager.

stardustonmyfeet Posted 1 March, 2013 Share Posted 1 March, 2013 Lol that they had Gregory Vignal and he was crap. Robbie Fowler mentions him in his autobiography amongst a lot of criticism of Houllier, who signed him. Early on in Vignal's Liverpool career he was told that he was getting dropped from the squad because he had a virus. He reacted by bursting into tears in front of everyone in the dressing room. Fowler wasn't very impressed. I thought he did ok for us considering the situation of the club at the time.

positivepete Posted 1 March, 2013 Share Posted 1 March, 2013 My lad an I took in three matches in Barcelona and Madrid last weekend. We spent plenty of time chatting to fans of Rayo Vallecano, Athletico Madrid, Espanyol, and Barcelona. All rated Pochettino as a coach, and the Rayo fans were saying that he was there a few weeks ago.

Colinjb Posted 1 March, 2013 Share Posted 1 March, 2013 A great read. Enjoyed that. Interesting that the weaknesses described at Espanyol when things went wrong, vulnerability from set pieces, inability to hold possession also happened to us under Nigel Adkins during our poor patch. He must be here knowing that the main issue he experienced in his past role, lack of investment in the team, will not be a factor. His system needs a certain type of player, a certain degree of quality to work. If the players truly have that quality then we can look forward with optimism. positivepete Posted 1 March, 2013 Share Posted 1 March, 2013 Baptistao.....you heard it here first You are probably right, young, good work rate, learning the game fast since he has only just started in 11 a side. Rayo had an off day Sunday, but as an aside the fans were great, they kept singing the whole game. (Best fans in the world TM) Hope we are not after one of their centre halves, one was worse than Lomas. The other one scored an own goal then chipped the goalie from 40 yards for an immediate equaliser!
