St Lej Posted 25 February, 2013 Share Posted 25 February, 2013 Starting to get sucked into the relegation battle. From what I remember their run in is the hardest of any team in the bottom half aswell. Battered tonight for the majority of the game, yet Big Sam reckons they were "fantastic". BBC stats would suggest they were anything but. I still think they will just about scrape it, as they probably only need 7-8 more points, but they won't want to lose their next 2 or 3 games. pingwing Posted 25 February, 2013 Share Posted 25 February, 2013 3 points ahead of us and look clueless now their easy run of games is over. Couldn't stand the smug motd people going West Ham are safe after we lost 4-1 at theirs. Bought terribly and its really starting to catch up with them, especially since that loss against Villa. Tokyo-Saint Posted 25 February, 2013 Share Posted 25 February, 2013 They've got stoke up next, which I think the BBC gets to show as part of their 6 nations coverage. They could easily outhoof them and get 3 points, that would probably take them out of it. On the other hand, lose the next couple and they will be in all sorts of trouble. Saint Garrett Posted 25 February, 2013 Share Posted 25 February, 2013 They'll be ok I think, lucky they picked up points at the start of the season. They are poor though but don't think the teams at the bottom are good enough to overhaul them. They only need probably 2 wins.

They still need their recent bad run to continue for another few games until they're in any real danger, and any win in the next 3 games probably keeps them just about out of trouble. Still, if West Ham are in trouble, does this mean Man Utd are beginning to look over their shoulders aswell?

Minsk Posted 26 February, 2013 Share Posted 26 February, 2013 I watched the match last night. If it hadn't been for Jaaskelainen there would have been a rugby score. Having said that though, it did take another late Bale wonder strike to seal the win. I think, unfortunately, they will be safe - I just hope we finish above them. Agree that they will probably be safe. But, brilliant though Bale's winner was, I could not believe how much time and space they gave him to line up the shot. Of all the players to stand off......doh
saints-cris Posted 26 February, 2013 Share Posted 26 February, 2013 They'll probably be safe, but they really arent that good. They were embarassingly sh*te at Villa, yet Big Sam thought they were really good somehow. A couple of bad results and they're in trouble, but they'll just about be okay. Doctoroncall Posted 26 February, 2013 Share Posted 26 February, 2013 Interesting times for them, with BFS fighting for a new contract as well. When it was known Strachan was leaving I'm sure the team didn't respond we'll to it. Maybe it'll be the same for them, but to expect 4 teams to overtake them is a big ask. Kingsbridge Saint Posted 26 February, 2013 Share Posted 26 February, 2013 Like west Brom they are benefiting from a Dolly start and media fawning. The reality is that they are going to finish below us and close to the bottom three, if not in it. Talentless bunch.
FloatingbridgeSaint Posted 26 February, 2013 Share Posted 26 February, 2013 Is a weird thing, up until this season I had nothing against Wet Spam or their BFS however, at the start of this season when they were on a decent run & we were getting battered I had loads of so called mates suddenly come out of the closet as WH supporters & giving it large. In fact some of them were quite rude when basking in their glory. I just quietly repeated to them that like the season before, it is a long season & anything can happen. Funny now they are on what some refer to as a barren spell, that all these earlier "mates" have gone very quiet indeed. Which makes results like last night make me very happy as it still keeps them within touching distance. However, my opinion of WH supporters especially here in Kent is that a lot of them seem to have inherited the old Millwall tagline of "no one likes us & we don't care". Weird. Saint Garrett Posted 26 February, 2013 Share Posted 26 February, 2013 They don't like the fact they're a long ball side but actually successful with it. (Relatively speaking!) I got loads of abuse from west ham fans at the start of the season, telling me they're so so much better than us. Simply not true. They're a poor side and the neutral doesn't like teams who play sh!t football. Hence the 'noone likes us' line. I would love it if they went down despite being pretty sure they won't! Would be great to see Allardyces face on the final day and watch them suffer next season. They're still in £100m odd of debt and expect the taxpayer to pay for their new stadium. Also I won't forget the West Ham fan who I met on the train to upton park this season. Telling me how they're a bigger club than spurs and he was saying how they'd finish in European places above them this season. Deluded bunch. West ham players turned their backs to close down the new man, and within 5seconds the ball had left bales foot. Who new, west ham don't have eyes in the back of their heads. At the end of the day, the spammers are better than the bottom 4, and that is all it takes.... because they really are tripe. QPR, VILLA, READING for sure. We have a group message chat on watsapp, a large deal of it is used for **** ripping the unfortunate Aston Villa supporting member ... I.e, its a Krul world when they played newcastle and he was making some great saves. Now, as part of this banter, a few weeks ago, i mentioned to one member, that he better watch out, as Saints are coming for west ham... he then responded with "if saints or Villa finish above west ham... I will eat my hat!" Rest assured, we are piling on the banter, asking him what particular delicacies he likes etc etc.... in short, a win for us and a loss for them next weekend will place him in an unfortuate position, and come the end of the season, i fully expect to see him presented with a hat! Olallana Posted 26 February, 2013 Share Posted 26 February, 2013 West (Hoof T)ham are a terrible team with a bunch of whiners, both players and fans. They are too decent at home to go down now with the points they have got early in the season but away they are truely an awful awful side. Never had any problems with them before last year but maybe because we were rivals then I changed my mind, and of course.....have never been a fan of BFS teams and the way they play hoofball.....Sry, I mean football.. In fairness, they were facing him when he got up, facing him when he got the ball, facing him as he took two touches and facing him when he realised no one had closed him down and went for it. They had plenty of time to deny him space. Ok he might have still got the shot away but it was poor defending

They are on awful run, but there are enough teams who had a much worse start that will not be able to overtake them. We have to play them of course, 3 points would help and may put us above them. Manure are safe from relegation by the way. WE lost our chance to win the league a couple of weeks ago, but 2nd is still possible LOL

Lallana's Left Peg Posted 26 February, 2013 Share Posted 26 February, 2013 Hate Allardyce more than West Ham. I think it is a decent club and always found the fans to be a good laugh. They aren't stupid fans, the vast majority know what Allardyce is like and lets not forget the endless booing last season. This season started well but they are tailing off fast. You can tolerate and compromise if it is getting results, but you lose patience as a fan if the muck you are being served up no longer gets results. pingwing Posted 26 February, 2013 Share Posted 26 February, 2013 Thought the highest we can finish is 4th now !? We would need to score 28 goals to beat Chelsea's goal difference to finish 4th (assuming 11 clean sheets and EVERY other league game is a draw)
melmacian_saint Posted 26 February, 2013 Share Posted 26 February, 2013 Also I think people haven't realized the kind of trouble we could be if we don't win (I mean, 3 points) on Saturday. I know a number of people have been saying that "oh it's QPR" ; "we won't go down", but getting into the trouble is 50% of a drop disaster. Anything else could leave us either a point away of the drop zone or effectively in/out of it on goal difference. Worse, should Arry be Houdini as he once was called, if QPR manage a shock win then that's them back into life, causing even more mayhem in the drop area. All of this as we get in to the decisive third of the season (so not even the last month where anything can be too little too late). Effectively, Saturday is about either storing the calculator or effectively turning it on. More than any other, this one really is a relegation 6-pointer. Dare I say, a first match-ball.
