Roger Posted 24 February, 2013 Share Posted 24 February, 2013 Why didnt he start considering recent form?
Matthew Le God Posted 24 February, 2013 Share Posted 24 February, 2013 Because Rodriguez and Davis have also been playing very well recently and Lallana is one of our best players and now fit after a long spell out with injury. Nice to have options and depth on the bench, not everyone can start.
Saint Garrett Posted 24 February, 2013 Share Posted 24 February, 2013 Rested maybe? To be fair he hasn't been great last few games apart from Man City. Maybe MP thought Lallana would be better? We missed him though, we went physical enough today and Punch can hold the ball up.
Thedelldays Posted 24 February, 2013 Share Posted 24 February, 2013 puncheon should not be dropped. he is the best of the players who play as the attacking 3 he will start next week IMO
Saint Garrett Posted 24 February, 2013 Share Posted 24 February, 2013 Was superb at QPR, so hopefully he can put in another top performance.

ToreSF Posted 24 February, 2013 Share Posted 24 February, 2013 Puncheon should definitely start against QPR. Would take off Rodriguez, who should be given credit for hard work, but he just doesn't seem to have a good plan with the ball.
Turkish Posted 24 February, 2013 Share Posted 24 February, 2013 I think puncheon is a better player than lallana, holds the ball better, more end product and tracks back better. I think he's probably more important to the way we play than Lambert too, odd decision to leave him out.

Sheff Saint Posted 24 February, 2013 Share Posted 24 February, 2013 Punch was dropped because in the last two away games he was **** and got hauled off at half time.
Turkish Posted 24 February, 2013 Share Posted 24 February, 2013 Lol, don't think so. He absolutely is, our system relys on wide men who can get up and down the flanks and rotate and press, something Puncheon does very well, Rodriguez is better at doing this than Lambert. Is definitely arguable Puncheon is more important in our system than Lambert.
Andy Durman Posted 24 February, 2013 Share Posted 24 February, 2013 puncheon should not be dropped. he is the best of the players who play as the attacking 3 he will start next week IMO I think MP has learnt alot about his squad today. We looked very dangerous once Puncheon came on. I think Punch will Start next week.

Dr Who? Posted 24 February, 2013 Share Posted 24 February, 2013 Just rotating a bit I think. He will be fresh to rip QPR apart!
austsaint Posted 24 February, 2013 Share Posted 24 February, 2013 We looked so much better when he came on today - lovely through ball for Gaston with his first touch.

Punch can be terrific on his day. Can also be gash and disappear. Can't say that about Lallana.

ottery st mary Posted 25 February, 2013 Share Posted 25 February, 2013 Puncheon in the side every time for me.. Very important player to us. Whatever peeps say about him...he is a tremendous footballer. Straight back in for QPR game.
Saint Garrett Posted 25 February, 2013 Share Posted 25 February, 2013 Yes you can. Lallana disappeared first half. Personally I think we suffered by forcing Lallana back in the team. He shouldn't have been there IMO.

Nice to have options and depth on the bench, not everyone can start. Personally I think Lallana has been one of our worst players this season. Most of the issues we have had at the LB position have been from him leaving the LB woefully exposed as he bombs forward and we've been far better when Puncheon or even Guly(!) have been playing instead of him. shurlock Posted 25 February, 2013 Share Posted 25 February, 2013 You can't say that about the golden boy on here Bradley. Started the season slowly but was in 'form' before his injury and doing a lot more defensive work.
rudi7s Posted 25 February, 2013 Share Posted 25 February, 2013 Lallana for me has to start. Showed his class in the pass/cross for Rickie's goal, most wide players would have hacked a cross in hoping for someone to get on the end of it. He also rinsed Santon moments later before clipping in a cross for RL to head wide, something j-rod can't provide, and Punch rarely does as he cuts inside a lot, or links up with Clyne. Punch - GR - Lallana should be the 3 attacking mf against QPR
